Winter camping from an ATV in a canvas tent with a woodstove for 2 days was an awesome adventure. We got hit with a snowstorm on the first night, but before that, we cook pork chops, and beans for supper, on the woodstove. We explore the area, find an awesome half frozen waterfall to camp near. Cut up a bunch of firewood for the night, and settlle in for the night in the comfort of the canvas tent and woodstove. The next day we wake up to a bunch of fresh snow, cook up some delicious bacon, and explore more of the areas lakes and hills from our ATV's. We end up staying the whole 2nd day and finally get back to the truck at night.

I've been watching your vids for about 6 weeks.. They convinced me to do a winter solo over night this past week in the mountains of Utah w minimal supplies (a couple tarps, paracord, a boys axe, sleeping bag, and some food ..and of course a few IPAs).. It was cold (15degF), but following your advice and tactics.. I was able to stay warm and dry--even in the snow. I proved to myself that I could do something that my fam thinks is crazy! It was a blast.. I want to do 2 nights now.. Thank you for giving me a new passion!

fire place...( it works) if you heat the exhaust vent the smoke goes right up the exterior vent.......Paul

This is my favourite kind of camping , Atv camping all year round. It’s safer due to any emergency in the bush it makes it easier to get help. Also in the summer when forest fires happen after lightning storms makes it easier to escape a fire, And comfortable, and can cover a lot more ground to see the sights as you have shown us in this video, water fall and lake! So now we have something in common 😂, loved your adventure. Great stuff, nice to see another ATVer on line that does more then mud bogging and ripping up the ground! You might want to check out the rules in your area about atv on crown land and restrictions. Enjoy, great fun on the trails, stay safe on that thing. Maybe a safety video would be cool. You may save a few lives noting your popularity. yup wood hunting is easy with the quads. FYI, it’s easy to simply drag your logs to camp with the quads, just strap to the back rack or the hitch. I’ll check out your friend Chanel as well. Wow great fun!

Awe yes on the quad a person can Realy get far out into the woods where not many others go. Your sure right about that. The quads make noise but it sure would be expensive to run them non stop 24 hrs a day and into the night. They only hold so much gas so to the camp site , see the sights, fetch wood, help someone if needed then home. That’s about all the gas one can use up so that’s all the noise one could make.

Kitty, I've known two people who have been injured, my older brother broke a collarbone and 30 yrs. later his son was injured on a work site when it flipped and landed on top of him, neither one of them were horsing around, just something on the trail that they didn't see or see in time. My father lived in Alaska and told me stories about guys that got killed on these, one was on a lake that was frozen over solid, he went under at a spot where the ice just happened to be thin and so did the ATV, his body was not recovered until the lake thawed! It doesn't matter how safe you think you are accidents and certain situations can get you killed. Joe is new to this, all the people I mentioned had been riding for years, I worry about Joe on the ice and the trails mainly because the area and ATV are new to him! Please be super careful Joe, make sure you get real familiar with the ATV before you pick up the speed, you go out alone most of the time if it happens to flip and you end up under it you will not be able to move it. I've heard horror stories about these, please respect it...We all want you to be around for your family because we care about all of you!

16:30 Why don't you guys get 3,4, 5 trees, throw them in a pile trunks forward, throw a coupla rope loop wraps around the trunks, and drag 'em back to camp whole and buck 'em up there? Seems to me the time constrained activity was selecting, gathering, and returning the wood to camp! Bucking 'em up could then be done in the dark back at camp if necessary! My 2 cents. Eager to hear reasons that wouldn't be smart. (branches still attached to trees would be like shock absorbers and also maybe reduce the friction of the trunks) Always enjoy your vids. ATV's a great addition to "the kit".

I've got 2 Sportsmen 500's that I've used to plow my driveway for years and they work great, Polaris ATV's have great low gearing, make sure you always use 4 wheel drive and put it in low though. My brothers got a 570 and it's got plenty of power to do the job.

A few things that play into your decision: 1) where are you wanting to push the snow, My driveway makes it very hard to push the snow anywhere that a plow truck would be able to. 2) do you have a way of hauling the ATV around for more than just plowing 3) plowing with the ATV is fun for the first 15 minutes but my driveway takes an hour or so and when it’s really cold it kind of sucks. A truck would be much faster but it doesn’t have nearly the recreation value. Maybe these will help you in your decision.

Great video Joe. I really enjoyed it. Good luck with the ATV. Your really going to enjoy ATV'ing. It will take you places you could not reach on foot. Some of my favorite camping trips have been on my ATV. You can pack everything you need for one night or several. The 570 was a good choice. Plenty of power and it won't burn a lot of fuel. Welcome to the ATV world. Enjoy !

Be careful on that machine, Joe. I grew up on three wheels then they banned them and got onto four wheels, been riding since the mid 1980's a great way to get around but use caution. The next addition to the four wheeler is a small chainsaw, that too need moderate caution, and not something one would normally take on a canoe trip, but atv its a given.
