One thing I missed in the video was uploading a video to Shopify, this is done in the same way as you would upload your product images but due to the larger file sizes of videos, they do take longer to upload.
Thank you, this is really helpful! Several questions: What is better in your opinion - uploading it directly to shopify or embedding it? Does uploading it affect the page load time negatively? What is the optimum size of the video file to upload keeping pageload time in mind
No problem. I haven't tested load time between the two so can't say and there isn't an optimum file size, the content of the video is more important than the size.
Adding video directly as a product media will effect the website loading speed? Will it make the site heavier if we add video with every product (50-60) along with images?
I haven't tested it out but it shouldn't have too much of an impact on load time, especially if you don't have them autoplay. Things like pop-ups have a much bigger impact on load time. As for the site as a whole, it will make the size of the site bigger as every page, media etc you add increases the site size but the size of your site doesn't really impact individual page speed.
@@EcommerceGold Thank you for your quick reply. The speed of the site i.e. the loading speed times is increased by adding the video directly on shopify store. On the other hand if we add the URL from you tube, it uses the you tube streaming option, so i guess the impact is there specially with more SKUs.
I've just tested the speed of a product page on my demo store, once with a video uploaded to Shopify and once with an embedded youtube video and the performance was exactly the same.
@@EcommerceGold well, that's good but it does depend on the size & quality of the video as well. Plus a website doesn't have a single product page, if it's done on say 50-60 products, results may differ. While looking for answers, I did ask the shopify help center & they confirm the same, it will effect the site speed ☹
If the video doesn't autoplay, then it only loads a thumbnail of the video, with the video only being pulled when it is played, so it doesn't have a big impact on site speed. Also browsers only load the page when a visitor lands, not the whole site, which is why different pages load at different speeds due to the elements on that page.
This instruction is so much better than Shopify's step by step instructions. Thank you for sharing! I do have a question... it appears that by default the sound is muted. I have to unmute to hear it. Is there a way to have it unmuted by default? Or did I do something wrong?
No worries, it is probably related to your theme why it is muted. I'd ask the developer or if it is one made by Shopify, ask in the community forum and someone will probably tell you what you need to do.
Thank you so much for clarifying❣ I've been struggling with this because the shopify help center did not have detail instructions it just says "add video URL" and obviously that did not work😂
Hi, a couple of questions re: the embed process. Can you choose the position the video will land on the page before you insert it and how do you delete an embedded video? I don't see where it is possible to delete one?
The embedded video will appear wherever you place it in the description and to delete it, go into the code editor for the description (it is the symbol and remove the code that begins with

hello i tried but it says i need to work with the theme coding even though i have 2.0 version
Hi, I'm not sure why it would be saying that.
Why do they make it so hard to upload a video to the product page...
It's not that hard, you just need to know how to do it.

some time can't find the Embed code, when I clicked share, No Embed

No problem and glad it was helpful. That’s something to do with your TH-cam settings, I can’t set them to be muted.
@@EcommerceGold My apologies, but I should of wrote that I uploaded the song directly to Shopify.
It’s a audio file. 😃

How do I do it to where its on just the one product page not every single product page
It shouldn't add it to every product page
the embedded video also gives youtube recommendations. How can remove that
You can’t, it’s something that happens with all TH-cam videos

Can I put autoplay video in product page
Depends on the video and where it is hosted but it isn't always to the easiest thing to do and some browsers won't autoplay however you set it up.
I love this video
Thank you 😊
I embedded a video but it won't resize on a mobile browser, so it looks a little funny when viewed that way. Anyone know how to remedy this?

How do you resize the video on a homepage or elsewhere on Shopify?
It requires additional code and best to speak to the theme developer as to how to do it with their theme
Thank you. But how to add my own video from my computer?
It's the same process as uploading a product image.
Video auto starts when I open the page, how I can turn it off?
That usually requires an autoplay tag to be added, so this might be theme related.
How can you add a video in a page or a blog post?
Use the insert video option where you enter the page/posts content
I found it when i right clicked the mouse button
How to play by itself ?
It requires code to be added and it depends on the theme you are using.
unclear how to upload video
You upload a video the same way you would an image
