Hate to hear of his passing & this song I've lived & glad my wife is still around. 26 years & a good 10 to 12 of them where hell for her but I'm trying to make up for them every day.
I first heard this at the tender age of 13 and I was just learning to play the guitar then and so the first song I ever learned to play wrong that is was called Stoney by JJWalker and of course it came from this album and this song was on it too. I loved me both and still do to this day some 40 years later...
Aw Stoney. "We were so free then, just walking down the road, never really carin' where that ol highway go." One of his live versions ended with "This is for ol' Harold Stonebeck. Wherever he is tonight."
do you know the guitar cords. A minor cord run i think 🤔 e minor or b minor just learned snow bird "original" and the get go by Billy Joe Shaver. let me know if you know the real guitar cords.
Lived a few blocks west of the Poodle Dog my last (fifth) year of college in Austin in 1982-3 - on North Lamar was it, or was it north Burnett, & 45th +/-. Don't remember going into the place even once.
On Burnet. No longer active it appears. If you are nostalgic, you better visit soon as the area is being re-commercialized, and it will be scraped soon.
There's never another...I thank the good Lord I've been rolling with JJ in forever...❤
When I'm high and low, this song makes me smile and the day much better. When I'm drunk and happy, I get even more happy.
RIP JJ. You were outstanding and did it the way you wanyed
