Mary's first appearance on Dave's show. Not scheduled, she had been across the hall at Live-at-Five and dropped by to briefly chat with Dave. Taped July 11.
Mary Tyler Moore is one of the most gorgeous women ever to walk this planet. I met her once and she was the kindest most generous person and I love her show. Mary we miss you
If the definition of a successful life is having people say good things about you after you're gone, who can argue that Mary lived one of the most successful lives?
My all-time favourite film. Outstanding performances all around. Mary was amazing, cast against type by Robert Redford. The scene when Conrad erupts and storms upstairs, leading to the confrontation with Cal (D. Sutherland) is drama at its finest.
I love the way she just leaves as though she was literally stopping by the show as if it was Letterman's own house handbag over her shoulder and all, thought she was going to ask if he needed anything while she was down the street hahaha
MARY TYLER MOORE WAS WONDERFUL AND CLASSY AND BEAUTIFUL😍✨❤RIP,,, AMEN🙏🙏🙏🙏!!! DOES ANYONE HAPPEN TO KNOW WHAT SHE WAS PROMOTING/TALKING ABOUT ON "LIVE AT FIVE" BEFORE THIS APPEARANCE PLEASE?!! LOVED THAT SHOW TOO!!!
There's a clip from it on here on TH-cam, doing a musical #. Definitely a good laugh. Mary always said in later interviews, she had always wanted to do a variety show. But by that time they were on the way out and she had missed her chance.
That aquarium realization I’m presently having as a 46 y.o. erroneous thinking that others my around my age seem to look a decade older than me but the reality must surely be that It is those others that look a decade younger than me:(
@ 0:26 ............MTM.............. In response DL says "well we could probably get you a job as an intern here........................HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ".................

Norm Macdonald sent me
Always a class act and a real genuine person. Nothing fraudulent about her. RIP Mary
daboys1215 I love her. But too bad she wasn’t the best parent to her son
What I always appreciated about David Letterman was, he always had Mary Tyler Moore on as a guest. He never forgot the opportunity that Mary gave him.
I would love to have just said hello to Mary. She was a beautiful class act. Thank you Mary for coming our way.
Rest in Peace, Mary..

MARY TYLER MOORE'S PERFORMANCE IN ORDINARY PEOPLE IS ONE THE BEST PERFORMANCES IN HISTORY

Great person
Dave always appreciative of people who gave him a break including Jimmy Walker who was a regular every year
God Iove this woman. Pioneer, icon, superstar.
I swear Mary Tyler Moore had the biggest most beautiful smile and the most mesmerizing eyes.
Her and Doris Day

I thought she was so cool. The Mary Tyler Moore show was so good.
Mann, I loved her as Laura Petrie... and that's all I need to say about that.
What a wonderful woman.
Living definition of the word "charming".
wow RIP. this was 3 days before I was born.
That she walks off the stage is unique compared to other guests
Yea came here cause of norm :p
There's just something about Mary that even her unsuccessful shows are tolerable because of her. ❤
She was truly a real woman!
Look carefully at the tall guy to her left as she exits the studio. That's her then-boyfriend, eventual-husband Dr. Robert Levine.
Everyone around Mary is smiling except him.
They got married in 83
@@brockpifer9929Yes. About 4 months after this episode.
She was beautiful in this video.

LOVED THAT SHOW TOO!!!
Seeing how Dave did one of his first jobs on her variety show in the mid-70's
That's what they were talking about. Did not last long. Michael Keaton was on that show too.
There's a clip from it on here on TH-cam, doing a musical #. Definitely a good laugh. Mary always said in later interviews, she had always wanted to do a variety show. But by that time they were on the way out and she had missed her chance.
They worked with each other well prior to this; great performers.
if they ever made a movie on letterman, topher grace should play him.
Anyway Mary we loved you!
RIP MTM

Don, do you have an MTM on Letterman compilation?
Not yet.
This is an early appearance but it isn't her first on Letterman. This one is: th-cam.com/video/UuZxDHyOf6I/w-d-xo.html
Which is my upload. I’ve since put together all of her appearances on Dave in two parts.

Her self deprecating jokes about being a woman went right over the audience’s heads.
WHAT JOKE WAS THIS EXACTLY PLEASE🙏🙏🙏?!!
I WENT BACK TO VIEWING THIS ENTIRE VIDEO AFTER READING YOUR COMMENT AND COULD NOT SEE/HEAR SAID ANYWHERE?!!
Probably referring to the ‘secretary’ comment.
She has bigger shoulders than him.
She looked pretty good for someone who was almost 50. Love Dave Letterman's 80s hair and looks too. Gonna miss her.
She's gorgeous. :)
WTF? i thought she was a vegetarian
judas brute - she became one seven years later.
