(Is a Rolex 100x better than an 80 Dollar Citizen?) Also that with higher price you don´t necessarily get an eqivalent of better taste and quality. Its just market/marketing. I found that to be very true. Your teas are always of excellent quality, I mostly just buy them blind and wasnt ever disappointed! You are my favorite tea people! Yes, with specialty teas that's very much the case. The price often seems made up and is supported by heavy marketing (direct and indirect). Similar to the wine market, where expert wine tasters often blind taste wines only to find they much preferred the ones for 1/2, 1/4 or 1/10th the price. I will say that our pricing is based off what we paid for tea, not some other criteria.
Great timing. Bought this cake blind (partly because of the Rising Red Lotus wrapper). So now I'm going to brew some Fleeting Years while watching the video. 😍
@@Yunnansourcing Definitely an interesting and worthwhile experience, because I don't have a lot of experience with aged raw. I dabbled in it a bit, but am currently almost a fulltime young sheng/shou drinker. For one, if the Fleeting Years is representative of a good aged sheng then this this puts the 2011 Impressions cake I have into perspective, as I thought that one might be overly smokey and that taste that I cannot put into words well, but now think might be the aged taste you guys are referring to. Even though I should assess teas on their own merits by myself, puerh is an acquired taste, so knowing some aspect of flavour is not a mistake but intended, influences how I experience a tea. Since I've been drinking both young and old Hunan Fu Cha, I recognized parallels between those and Fleeting Years, with less sweetness of course. In sum, I am looking forward to drinking Fleeting Years more and experience its development. The cha qi seems more rounded than young shengs, which I do enjoy.
Though four months later, I’m drinking this with you right now. I just got a sample, but from my first tastes of the 1st & 2nd infusions, I think a cake is in my future.
