Do you still need to put water in when air frying or just for steaming.....the manual just doesn't help at all.....ty in advance

I would definitely not add water when using just the air fryer function. You're generally trying to *eliminate* moisture on the exterior of foods when frying and baking, and adding steam will prevent any browning from occurring until that steam is driven off. And yes, I know bakers often add steam to *their* ovens, but that's specific to breads that benefit from the increased gelatinization of their crust prior to browning. If you're trying to just bake something, I wouldn't add water at all. To be clear though, I do not own this device, and if, say, the smokeless features of its grill maybe uses some kind of water trap that the instruction manual recommends, then always defer to the manual, instead of some rando's TH-cam comments.

I just love my Tefal xxl airfryer and my tefal actifry, but oooh this is just so amazing. Might just need to gift my xxl airfryer to make room for this one 😂
