    Thank you for taking the time to check out this model. We use this motor in step thru and cruiser frames as well. Great tests and comparisons. We mapped the controller for PAS 1&2 to be beginner rider, economic, easy power and then if you need it you have 3-5 for face melt, hill climb, towing etc. Feel free to call with any questions, we have regular shipments arriving and each has different colors, not all are on the website but we can look up on the backend. The non Elite dual suspension and step thru Volts have seat height starting at 33". The Elite is elevated by the large double crown front fork.

      Nice bike. Good job Amp. My nitpick is the thumb throttle. Since they have low profile twist throttles that wouldn't interfere with your nice trigger shifters it would probably be a popular option you could provide.

      @@jimmyjames8736 we tracked down some to sell as parts, they should arrive in a couple months. The factory does not believe twist throttles are safe so they do not offer the option but we can offer parts for customers to do as they please after receiving bikes.

      @@ampridesusa That was a fast response lol. You must have already been working on getting some low profile throttles and were ahead of my suggestion. I hadn't checked out your website before today but you guys got some fun looking stuff.
      Thumb throttles work well but 50 years of motorcycle riding makes a twist habit hard to break.

      AMP RIDES -
      I absolutely love how you respond to reviews to help people understand what market you fill in the E-Bike world. I Firmly believe those that offer choice to the consumer will wildly succeed. I agree safety does matter but I can go buy a 400hp Camaro and drive at 150 mph - yes it’s unsafe - doesn’t mean I would do it - but it’s my choice to buy it !!!

    that hill i climb with my 250 w motor no problem [even a stiffer hill ] i don't see what the fuss is all about , a 1500w 52 v [ mine is 48 v ] should climb the hill like nothing , my bike do 29 mph on plane ,22 to 24 mph on moderate hill and 16 mph on stiff hill , on six times the power of motor more than mine you should have a much much better preformance , sorry but i'm not impresed ....

    This was a really well thought out review Citizen. Nice bike too. Looks like a good choice for taller power junkies and their step thru version probably fits most others. I'm not sure why other manufacturers haven't figured out that a 46x14 top gear isn't enough for fast bikes but I love that Amp is providing 56x11 for theirs with an 8 speed. Not going to run out of pedal on this beast. The 40 amp controller looks like it provides a serious acceleration kick with good top speed even off the 48v charge. With the 4 piston Tektros and a 25 amp hour battery it looks like they are trying to provide good stuff that doesn't need upgrades. Thanks for showing us the bike. It looks like Amp is worthy of being on hot rodders short list.

    Love your videos. Here's a little bonus for your viewers regarding the thumb throttle issue you mentioned. I have found just one right-side half twist throttle that will work/fit with that shifter. I use it on my bike and can say I recommend it. Search for "Right 158X Half Twisting Throttle". The connector might be for bbshd (which I have) but I think you can change this to fit your bike... Maybe do a video on this! How to change the adapter (I'm no expert on this). It could really help those who prefer twist throttles and use that shifter. I'm going to buy another one as a spare.

    Excellent review, and this bike definitely fits my style, lol. I like the punch midrange throttle, and it makes it hilarious when carving. I was on a mixed group ride with gas and electric bikes a few months ago, and when we got to the steep roads and switchbacks going up to a scenic overlook, the gas bikes got left behind! I don't like the throttle being tied to the PAS level, and for me it's a safety issue. There have been several times having full throttle has gotten me out of situations (including a drunk careening around a parking lot), and if my throttle was restricted by PAS, I might not be here to write this. Great bike though, and hopefully there will be an option to change the PAS relationship in the future.

    Kinda wish it had a long seat, like the X-Class does. I've found that that kinda seat is a tad more comfortable for me than a typical bicycle seat.
    That said, I did JUST buy an X-Class a couple weeks ago, to go along with my Kepler, and my Freego DK200 (another moped style bike), so I'm kinda good at the moment. I have 6 altogether, but those are my 3 favorites. While the Kepler is just as beastly as the X-Class, I'm liking moped style better than bicycle style.

    I've been riding this bike for about a month th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

    I had this model for about a year and I will say that I enjoyed it a lot but there are a lot of issues with the design of this bike.
    The first issue I had was the chain kept coming off.
    The next issue I had with the bike was throttle sticking and ghost peddling the bike would take off at random without pressing the throttle or peddling I was slammed into some outdoor tables and fell off during a turn because of this issue. At times on gravel surfaces I felt this bike could not hold up without feeling like the bike might slide out underneath me.
    Another issue is going up hills I noticed that the if I didn't really lean into the front wheel it often felt like I would lose control. I think this bike is great for cruising street style but if you're looking for an off road trail bike this is probably not the one for you. The battery for me was hard to get out of its case as well. The folding feature I feel is useless because of the weight of the bike for me it was easier to leverage the weight instead of picking it up folded. The throttle I noticed was hard to keep an even speed after setting 2. Overall the bike isn't horrible but the design flaws made it tedious and miserable to take care of to the point I got rid of it.
    The pros are this is a fast bike. I really enjoyed street cruising with this bike. I can't speak for the new management but before the customer service was really good. I think the company needs to take this model back to the design table and make some adjustments to the design.
    Some things to consider when ordering if you are shorter you will probably struggle with standing tip toed. Just some things I ran into not discouraging in buying this bike but definitely some things to consider before you do. Love your channel! Thanks for the great reviews!

    • @jimmyjames8736
      @jimmyjames8736 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All 48 volt hub motors can also be run at 52v. It is just the battery voltage that is different. 48v motor controllers also function with a 52v battery and many of them allow selecting between 48 and 52 volts so the battery state of charge indicator remains accurate.

      @@mad151maxx4 Your best option may be to contact Ariel Rider and see if they will sell you a Grizzly wiring harness, selector switch, motor controller, and front hub motor. I'm sure you know the stuff you are doing will void warranty so just tell them what you are doing and maybe they will help you out. Keep in mind that the Grizzly harness connection lengths and locations might not match your Kepler. You might need to lengthen some wires like battery or motor to fit.
      The other maker that might be able to help you is Eunorau. They make a 26" dual motor called Defender. Their wiring harness might fit a Kepler well and uses same motor selector switch. But you would need to check if the connectors used matched the style used on the Kepler. Eunorau is a Bafang dealer too.
      And don't stress on finding 1000w 110 nm front hub. If you can talk Ariel or Eunorau into selling you a Grizzly or Defender front hub it won't be those specs but it will be a whole lot of extra hill climbing power.
      Dual motor will climb the best but if you just want more top speed then you are better off without front hub and just running the rear motor with 60v battery and 40-45 amp controller.

    • @jimmyjames8736
      @jimmyjames8736 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mad151maxx4 I emailed Ariel in July and got response the same day. Most of the ebike makers are not big enough to have much telephone support. But you should also still try Eunorau. And another good place to try is Fabulous ebikes. They might sell you a high watt 135mm dropout front motor also.
      You can also get a big climbing boost by just using a 500 watt hub with a 22-25 amp controller. I have dual motor Lectric XP 2.0 set up that way. There really isn't any practical use for just front wheel drive on the bike so I can only select between rear wheel or both wheels. Don't need 3 position rocker switch like on grizzly. Just on/off for front wheel. Simplest way is to omit PAS on front wheel and run it throttle only. You can use pushbutton or rocker switch to interrupt the 0-4.5 volt feed from the throttle to front controller. You can use PAS in front if you use double pole switch and interrupt it too. But you then also need to keep PAS levels coordinated between the two controllers.
      500 watt motors can be real good for intermittent use on hills. I use a 30 amp controller with 48v on both ends of my Lectric. Thought it might blow up rear motor but didn't care. Over 1800 miles on it and the rear motor won't die lol. I think it helps a lot that the motors don't get dragged down to a low speed. I live in hilly area of Ozarks in southwest Missouri and the bike never gets below 15 mph from throttle even on very steep hills in countryside. Regular size hills in town don't knock it under 25. And even with a 500 watt motor you need to put torque arms on both sides of the fork.

      The standard model comes with the fender mount light, the Elite adds the large light on a separate switch and customers voted to have both so we give them both. Those Speedster Vee tires are quiet riding and the Mission Command Vee tires are more aggressive tread. Since the rubber is fairly grippy and those quad brakes are lockdown power its pretty easy to lock them up and skid stop.

You said you have a trek there are just as bad. Sorry to be out spoken but when I seen the bike there like a tank. Its far better to build own bike with a kit from aliexpress. I serpose there will be people who will buy the bike there are just to heavy it looks not bad. Its just like a folding bike I've been on two demo terrible. They sent me an email saying that they were unfortunately behind schedule so the container didn't come to port until Aug. 23rd. They said it takes a week to two weeks to clear the shipment at port and then their fulfillment center starts shipping the entire batch out over the following 3-5 days, with a 3-7 day shipping eta. I was sent an email update that the shipment cleared and they would begin shipping them out on the 31st.

    Ebikes in general are soo ugly but I am a chopper type person. I have a Ghost rider stretched bike,i knew i wanted it to go pretty fast. (31mph on flat ground so far) No ebike within a reasonable price range looks good to me so I knew I have to go with a DIY kit. I chose a 1500w cheap amazon kit and its doin good for me but I am always thinking of upgrades. next is a new controller and 72v battery but thats gonna take me a while to buy since I am disabled. with that upgrade i will need cooling fins and statoraide to keep it cool but that should make it so fast it will be nice and life threatening haha.

    I appreciate your supporting the e-bike industry. But most people who could really use them (need them) cannot justify $2-3k when the same money will get a decent used car. The price needs to drop way below $1k if it's going to entice the working masses to give up the comfort/practicality of a car. A bike manufacturer need to take a lesson from Henry Ford if they want to come out on top.

    • @ampridesusa
      @ampridesusa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      We can only make 600 bikes a year and have a niche of 1/2 of 1% of the ebike market. Lectric XP is killing it at the entry level from $1-2k. We cannot think of anything to do better than Lectric is doing for the prices they offer bikes at, so we stay in our lane and build the bikes our customers ask us to build, sell out every shipment. The tariff and shipping on this bike is over $1k, our profit margin is 8% and dealers do not carry our bikes because they want to make 30% profit. This is a want vs a need bike.

      @@ravenrock541 you are paying for name brand cells so you can park your bike in your garage with relative assurance that you are not going to burn your house down. That is the difference between quality controlled batteries with decades of experience and start up battery factories with no track record. Ebikes are hazmat shipments due to the lithium and issues with the batteries bursting into flames. As with anything in life, it is all about risk tolerance and whether the consumer would rather spend less and have higher risk. Most of our customers are 55-85 years old and have things to lose, grandchildren in their homes at certain times and whatnot so they are less risk tolerant and the track record of not bursting into flames is important so we use Samsung cells.
