Today i talk about the thousands of people that took to the streets of Brighton for a anti fascist protest to stop the planned far right protests which were expected to cause violence in the city centre. shops in Queens road Brighton had boarded up there windows in expectation of violence.

Friends and former neighbours were worrying about the potential riots in Bighton, but I messaged them to say Brighton was one of the worst places for the racists to try and cause problems. It is so diverse, welcoming and integrated, contrary to the claims of Fartage and co. Luckily they put aside their fears and still came to the pub quiz....we didn't win, but some of the proceeds go to local Brighton and Hove charities each month. Proud Brightonian ❤

My Dads was born and raised in Bristol van man and I shared him the videos of the numbers of anti far right protesters that just drowned out the far right. He text me saying he was actually very teary and made he proud of his former city.

This is the Britain that I remember from a long time ago, when I actually felt pride for my country before farage and all the other scum made me feel ashamed and embarrassed of it. Thugs off the streets good, but how we have taken back control when hundreds of migrants are still arriving every day? Totally against riots but are we all just going to pretend that we don’t have a massive problem. It would be great if left and right could hold a mature adult debate because all these riots AND protests are achieving nothing! We are told “everyone must take their fair share” what is a fair share? I don’t see anything fair about having mass immigration forced on us.

As a 54 year old white man who has spent the last week despairing about what has happened to the country I love these scenes have brought joy to my heart and a tear to my eye.
Take heart - not just Brighton where good stuff happened, here in north east London and Walthamstow and other places it was the same. Plus the smaller incidents that often get missed - the Imam who posted a video inviting far right people to come for tea and to chat, the pub goers who, on seeing a group of Moslems last night, ran up and spontaneously hugged them, the people who turned out to clear up and rebuild (mosque walls)...
Do not get use to it! The establishment have very dark intentions.. there are very few choice cuts of meat, if any, on gutted carcas!😢

I was at the unity protest in Brighton. It was totally peaceful and with lots of goodwill. There were some street entertainers such as a drumming group who were a lot of fun.

Not just the good people of Brighton, but the great people of Britain. In Southampton and, albeit on a much smaller scale, the same thing happened and Bristol and elsewhere.

Absolutely beautiful to see the real people out in every race, creed and colour because that is what good people look like; same way that the blame for the problems in the country cannot be pinned on any individual or group. The bigger message I hope people take away is that generally we need to start taking responsibility more as a country everyday because the real community exists outside of the internet and social media !!

There was a smallish counter demonstration in Cardiff today as they were expecting a riot, but nothing happened. The counter demonstration was so boring after an hour I left it and went shopping. There was extra security standing outside shops, restaurants, and places of entertainment.
