    I've learned that some synth basses sound lifeless in mono. So what I do is split it into high and low frequency. Set everything

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Indeed! When using a single bass that's a great way of doing it. That way you can utilize the stereo information without risking any phasing issues in the low-end. :D
      I was thinking about including it in the video, but I didn't want to make it too long. Instead I just left a link to my "mono" tutorial, since it's explained in more detail there :D

    • @mwmcbroom

      I use Band in a Box's Melodist feature. Often this is enough to get me unstuck and I can either rewrite or invent a new melody based on the melody that BiaB's Melodist came up with.

    I had to deal with this issue in the past, my solution is to get a bunch of plugins that have a randomizer future, or if your DAW has such a future use that.
    You just sit and keep pressing the randomizing button till something interesting comes up.
    Trust me, you'll be surprised how many new ideas will pop up in no time.

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, it usually doesn't take much to reignite that creativity. The important thing is that you subject yourself to something new and fresh. It's very common for people to just try the same things over and over, and not get anywhere. I've found that sometimes just hearing a particular sound can lead to an idea. In fact, I've ended up with a full track just from hearing a certain sound several times. :)

    Where do you get your percussion sample loops from?

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure, I got this form another track I've made. But where I got it from originally I have no idea. I always save all my tracks as a zipped loop package, that way I can easily find every sample that I've used in every track I've made. Often times I find myself reusing the same kick or the same crash for example. :)

    Sorry , i will be Honest , i didnt find this video helpful. Creative blocks happen to me usually around middle-intro and i already have sounds and cannot get them to move somewhere and create movement. Im tired of videos with simple chord progressions and HOW TO MAKE A BEAT IN 5 MINUTE. Nobody wants to create in 5 minutes and people want to understand how do develop a full song in depht without following the same blind rules everyone spit out I know thats not what you did here but you still only made couple bars , without intro , bridges etc. We need information on the inner workings and creative of music in our brains. Adding premade loops and full-on already made stuff isnt a workaround creative block to me. Its just a bandage , to bypass the issue without really adressing ''what is'' the creative block and why you feel stuck in front of a creation. The ''not knowing'' where to lead the sounds , not knowing where the direct the song and how to move the energy of it.. the fear of ruining the song/beat by adding more stuff. This keep getting unanswered by the youtube fl studio community.. Each song is different and must be treated differently. But how do you go about that? whats the intuitive process and why. Not every genres and not every type of song can just simply slap a loop and piano chords on it to just work. I personally dont think you really showed anything but another creation of yours. Title is missleading at best. Other than that , good melodies.

    Also instead of loading up Parametric EQ 2 on each slot just to cut out the low end. I usually use the built in EQ at the end of each mixer slot (below Slot 10) and rolling off the low end there. Saves alot of CPU too

    In the beginning of this video, you said "Do you find it hard to come up with new melodic ideas?" Yet in this video you didn't really spend any time in coming up with melodic ideas. You suddenly invented a little melody -- without comment -- that you used for the duration of the video. Hardly a tutorial on coming up with melodic ideas. Or am I missing something?

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, good point. It was mostly just intended as a quick tip on how to "get into it" with pre-made chord progressions and such, and as I said, how "jamming along" to those progressions can help you come up with new melodic ideas. I had originally recorded a lot of trial and error, but as the video kept getting longer I had to cut it down, so I actually took that out and just ended up with the final result instead. In retrospect, I should probably have left it in to make it more authentic. That said, I find that people lose interest very quickly these days, so I rarely go beyond 20 minutes for a tutorial. :)
      Whenever I do I get flamed for spending too long explaining something that could have been done in half the time, and if it's too rushed then it's the other way around. I try to aim for something in between, but I don't always succeed, unfortunately.
      Anyways, thanks for your feedback, this will surely come in handy next time! :)
