Riding from your garage, connecting new trails by road, stopping for lunch, hitting the gas pump to keep riding all day, are all reasons why I love my 450EXC. I love woods riding and a little moto too but man nothing beats a great day of dual sporting with friends!
The only time when the 450 its better , its when you are a tall guy or a little heavier, i adore the 450 over the 500 its a little more responsive , can ride it everywhere if you are a big boned man , also the sound its better , sell so quickly 👍
Great video! I've done that same route a few times on my 17' 500excf. Been riding that whole area for almost 30 years. Take that 450 and head done coyote canyon into Anza Borrego. Another fun ride!
I've tried many thing using motorcycle, and dual sport is really the best for me. Carrying all your camping stuff on a thumper is a really good feeling
Wow Rado! What an Awesome Day you had! Such a beautiful area you live in with excellent trail riding. Great little town there. That 450 is Awesome! I think that is my next bike a Dual sport like that! Great job on the build Jay! JJ
That’s the sort of riding I do on my exc450, although it’s a bit greener here than there! Wouldn’t mind your weather though! The seat is a literal pain in the arse after a few hours, but other than that it handles road sections pretty well. Can you get Michelin Tracker tyres over there? It’s a road legal mx tyre, pretty good grip but wears quick on the road.
KTM on sunday ATM on monday. But if you live in florida like me it's better to have a 450cc it keeps you on top of the sand better. When your riding sand you need alot of power. 250cc are nice and work fine but the 450cc is definitely easier to stay on top of the sand
I live far back in the sierra's. I don't have time for all the legal stuff so i just put together some fake turn signals, headlight etc for my 450 Yami, KX 125, etc and go for a ride. Looks legal
That area is in my backyard also. I ride a KTM 500 on all those trials. I do 10000+ duel sport miles a year. If your interested I can show you some more trails close to home
That was my favorite area to ride. I still never hit all of it cuz it was too extreme to hit some areas solo. Had a KLX250, YZ250FX and CRF450X out there. Loved the loop by the ponds and mine
Awesome video Rado! This is exactly type of riding I do on my 450 ( also 6days but '17 edition) I am all about variety so this kind of bike is great for me as it does everything really good. True dual sport. Thank you for the review! Jay builds fantastic bikes. Stay safe and happy halloween lol
I had the PRIVILEGE to ride this same model bike yesterday, a 2018. It was my first time on a KTM 4 stroke. It was an absolute REVELATION. WOW! Amazing power, lightness, handling and SUSPENSION like butter! I know what my next bike is!!
Been subscribed for a long time, let’s just say I was part of a lot of this channels child hood :) Came from your old video, ktm 300 exc 2019 vs 2004. Here’s my predicament : Started 2 going on 3 years ago on a junkier ‘73 F7 175, while riding will never die for me, the bikes getting boring. It’s way short for my awkwardly long legs, it’s heavy, it’s got all the weight in the wrong places, and its power is kinda laid back. Anyway I’ve been keeping my eye on marketplace lately for pretty much anything, gotta admit my dream bike is a yz250f anything above 2010 but everybody selling around me is wayyy over priced. Been checking out 90’s XRs, DRs, and a few WR’s which are also pretty high. Recently a 2004 250 exc popped up for 2400, looks fairly clean, about an hour and a half drive. My dilemma, I’m 16, going on 17, I am extremely smart with my money, I’m not a spender child :) Still trying to stay under 2500 though. While I know 2400 is probably a couple hundred dollars high, do you think it’s worth checking out? I have no interest in motocross, however I’ve considered trying a hare scramble or something someday. I’ve heard the 250 exc are absolute woods rockets, which is good here in Michigan. My questions, would a 250 exc be to much power for me? It’s a big jump, but one that I know I can handle with the right amount of care. I think I’m fairly good, atleast I know I caught on way faster than many others, and fully exceeded expectations that other riders had for me as a beginner. Please note that I’m 6’3” with all my height in my legs, and I only way 130 lbs (yes, scrawny) And another question - Are these bikes reliable maintenance wise? I’m not worried about normal maintenance like oil changes, I always stay on top of those things, I just mean the money maintenance like top end rebuilds and what not. If you have time to read and respond to this, great. If not, that’s alright to, I basically wrote a book. Which ever one you do though, thanks in advance. And since I leave comments like this all the time, I’m sure I’ll see you again in the next couple months.
Eli, I think its a good idea to check that bike out. 2 stroke KTM enduro model is a really good option for the riding you described. Stay safe as you ride it, have a respect for the power and you should be ok. Good luck man!
Hey man I think you should get it as long as it looks good and you gotta respect it cuz it's gonna be a lot more power than your prolly used to but any experience is nothing but experience and translates to a better rider but never forget respect 100 💯

I like that place lots of trees and looked like your on a small town on the mountains. What's the name of that place? That looks like a good place to ride a feet forward motorcycle.
This is exactly the kind of riding I do here in the Uk... 80-120 miles on a day out, road/unpaved roads (green lanes). I should probably get a 450 4T, but I love my beta 300 too much (road legal too!). Great to see your “home” looks like a spectacular area to live as a biker 🤙🏽
Man, those are some really nice trails for just about any kind of riding that you would want. I don't understand why the state requires 'street legal' on some of those trails. I'm assuming you're in California and they do just about everything different there. Although I'm not into 4-strokes (too big/heavy for an old man) I'd still like to throw a leg over the 450 you're riding. (P.S. Just got informed by orthopedic doctor last week that they can't do another operation on my back to help with pain, etc. Not enough left of it.....I guess you can only rebuild an old Ford so many times; so I'll just live with what I've got. I bet I've got more titanium in me that these new bikes have.....no lie!). Anyway, looks like a fun trail. P.S. Good clutch control in the rock pile! Love the smell of pines.....when I was young I was a National Park Service ranger in the Rockies and always loved the pines and their wonderful smell. Really miss those days except for times on the fire line.
thanks for sharing Tom, you had a lot of fun in your life, tried many things and thats really good. Sorry to hear about your back, but maybe its better to not go under knives again, may God ease the pain for you! take care
