It’s close to AstroBot? Huge compliment. Thank you! Do you think Moss is more a puzzle platformer while Max Mustard is more action platformer? We also rate it highly.
Keep up the great work. Yes, Moss is more of a puzzle platformer with an emphasis on storytelling. Max is extremely closr to astro with its own unique design style
This game really needs at least one little place where your character Max takes an elevator to the top of a high building and, you know, walks out to the end of a plank. For the lulz.
Matteo, if you die. You actually keep the coins you collected. So only collect them again if you really want the $$$. We did it this way as an elegant difficulty balancer. The more you die, the more coins you get, the more upgrades you can buy.
Should have made it the other way. If you die, you lose the coins. OR, maybe make it depend on the difficulty chosen (if there are options) …easy, you die, you keep the coins. Normal, you die, you lose the coins.
Man, I'm so geeked for October 3rd for PSVR2. Moss is the GOAT for sure but it's more of an adventure game to me than a platformer. I hope we get Moss Book 3 someday and more third person adventure/platformers, they work so well in VR.
I'm pretty obsessed with Stilt right now. I'd put that one on par with astro in terms of fun factor. Once u realise just how responsive and precise the controls are it really feels amazing to play. Big surprise.
@@jamesmonkey5314 it had me laughing out loud when u go over spiked bars and realise you can raise your arms up to avoid getting spiked. U really feel embodied in that weird creature
Yet it doesn't feel anywhere near as satisfying when spin-attacking enemies compared to Rescue Mission. Plus Max's death animations look cheap and buggy. Won't knock the Q3 version for having weird animation stutters from time to time due to the limitations of Q3, or greyish black levels. Soundtrack is also pretty forgettable, but overall it's been a lot of fun, even if it's not reinventing the VR platforming wheel or anything. Must-have on Q3, including Resident Evil 4 & OceanRift
Nice! Glad this game turned out to be great. IMO saying that it doesn't quite live up to Moss or Astrobot is extremely high praise. It would have to be very good to even get close. Looking forward to seeing how the PSVR 2 version turns out. Hopefully there's a nice boost in visuals, and the unique features of the headset are well implemented.
Well, I'm there. Terrible as I am at playing... well, almost any game, really... this sounds like it's still right up my alley. Thanks for the well-done review, Matteo; I was already considering this one, but your review has knocked me off the fence, and I'll be picking it up ASAP...
So, according to IVRy, the PSVR will need an adapter to connect to PC effectively. Maybe Sony is letting the current stock sell out so they can begin to ship a new package with the PC adapter. They would also need to update the info on the box to promote the PC compatability.
I've almost completed the first world, and it's been pretty solid overall. Almost comes across like a first wave Dreamcast-like platformer from a smaller studio that's been VR-ified. The only thing i find that it has over AstroBot, at this point, is the massive jump-up in resolution. I think I'll hold off for the PSVR2 version though which is finally getting a release early October! :P It's funny, because if this game were released on flat screen it wouldn't even be worth playing, but plunking it in VR, as everybody knows can transform a 5/10 pancake platformer into like an 8/10.
i love platformers but moss never clicked with me, the gameplay and puzzles felt tedious, combat clunky and the narrators voice killed me. stoked for something more straight forward
@@User_92020 There are rumors that the team behind Astrobot (Team Asobi) are making a new one which would probably be a hybrid game (playable flat or on PSVR 2). Hopefully it happens, as Astrobot Rescue Mission on PSVR 1 is incredible.
My daughter is 9 and is fully capable of playing this however under 10 is a bit young for vr and I would only recommend it if you put strict usage on play time
Still a fan but I get the feeling this channel has changed focus to standalone out of necessity rather than passion. Can you cover some niche stuff like vr hardware accessories or uevr. At least stand alone is better than it used to be.
I only cover what I'm passionate about. I just recently covered hardware accessories and covered UEVR in the past. Tomorrow's video is Matured themed (rated R) games. No kiddy stuff
You gave me a panic attack! I couldn’t find “game of the year” anywhere on the meta store. Other TH-camrs have suggested this, however. In the video, Matteos opinion was that Max Mustard was better than ven and luckys tale and on par with moss and Astro.
I never really liked platformers. I did play Moss 1 and 2 and beat them both. They were okay games considering they were platformers. But I saw little to no reason for them to be in a VR medium. I'm gonna hard pass on this. My wallet will thank me for once.
For me VR is about experiencing environments, so when a platformer puts you in a third-person environment it takes away from the experience. I loved Moss, but I don’t go back to it because I cannot play as Quill. Keep third-person games for flat platforms, and VR for first-person. Even though it does look good Max Mustard will be a pass.
Astro Bot is easily my favorite VR game so I very much disagree with you. I can’t speak for this game yet but in that one I still felt like I was fully in the game world just not the main character. Like I was a helpful God watching and helping this little guy on his journey.
I strongly disagree with you there. You're absolutely entitled to your own preferences, but myself and many others love games like Moss and Astrobot and wish there were more of them. There are plenty of first-person VR games for you to play (including recent platformers like Stilt). The VR ecosystem benefits from having a wider variety of games.
We made this game for adults first. We want adults to feel good when playing it. Along with nostalgia and variety. We know the art style and vibe will turn off some adults but we had no choice.... these emotions require this art style.

I'm currently in act 4 in the game, and completely agree with your review! Well done.

There is a Plank you jump off of, it's in the footage
I think you are going to be very satisfied in one of the levels.

If there's anything I like better than VR, it's Matteo having a new haircut.
I will be purchasing this game. It is very much up my alley in terms of taste. We need more games like this so I will be voting with my wallet.
Thanks for the nice review! I love Moss!

Have you had a chance to compare performance Quest 2 vs Quest 3?
I did not but I'm pretty sure it runs very similar on q2 because they are planning a resolution boost for Quest 3

they are letting stock less because they has a surplus
I really like your channel, Matteo! Subscribed and keep up the great work!
Thanks buddy
YUP YUP YUP Love platformers.
Il be picking this up but for psvr 2
I wish there was a way to do crossbuy between PSVR and quest and steam.
I wonder if there will be cross buy on the Meta Store. If not, do I wait for the steam release?
It's not the type of game where visuals will matter that much. It will be good on all platforms
There will be. We wish there was cross buy across all the headsets!
@@Space_Zippy definitely not
Huh 6-10 hours is quite generous for even a flatscreen 3D platformer!
I can't remember the total number of levels but it's a lot
40 levels, or at least that what it says in the quest store description

Will the PSVR2 version have better graphics than the Quest 3 stand alone version by any chance, or are they the same across all platforms?
It's definitely better looking
I feel like I should probably beat at least thr first moss before playing this. It looks fun though
Like this short video format a lot.
