    The AT Trail walking is a great adventure, but how it makes you appreciate the indoor plumbing, "town food," shopping, a tub soak and or shower, and a comfortable, quiet night's sleep in a bed! ❤😊

    I live in Franklin. The mining here was for corundum (rubies and sapphires on the high end) and sandpaper or polishing compounds on the low end. We have had some amazing rubies mined here, the sapphires are mostly pink and whitish and are not gem quality. One of the interesting things here is that the rubies are fluorescent! Franklin also had mica mines. Mica is used industrially in any make-up that is sparkly or shiny and as insulation material in electric cables and as a filler in asphalt and cement.
    You guys are amazing. I started following your journey yesterday. It is fantastic to be surrounded by these mountains, but so fun to see the trail through others’ eyes.

    You two are definitely thru hikers! You have the system down as far as towns go, walk, room, shower, food, restock, visit, sleep, walk, repeat.😁
    Don't change a thing, just continue for 6 months! You guys have adapted so quickly and appear to be having a great time. Good luck, continue to adapt and hike on.
    Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun!

The A.T. is the shortage by miles , but for me and most long distance Hikers the hardest. So many up and down mountains and ridges. The P.C.T. offers the best scenery. But Congratulations on making your first 100 miles. You got this !!! 9 Lives 🐾 Appalachian Adventure Guides !! Maybe I will see you on trail !!!

    • @goldpop5001

      There are two kinds of thru-hikers. The ones who prefer to stay in the woods and be close to nature spending as little time in town or hostels as possible, and the ones who literally are hiking from "town to town" focusing on when they will be "out of" the woods for a reprieve in the closest town, hostel, etc. Nothing wrong with either type. The latter type seems to get caught up in the social aspect and then if/when it disappears, they get lonely or homesick and tend to lose focus. Hopefully the "Bears" will not fall into this category. The hardest part of thru-hiking is the mental aspect. Been there, done that. I wish them the best!

    • @Hikingin70sshorts

      True, and you have to realize with a young girl like Baby Bear you have to make the hike fun. You don’t want her disliking hiking later in life. We always made hikes fun for our kids and now that they’re grown they all still love hiking. It’s very satisfying for us to see that.

    On my return trip home to northeast Tennessee I took a long adventurous drive going through Franklin then driving west to murphy,nc I meet several thru hikers at top of mountain off of hwy 64. The views from atop that mountain were spectacular. I will be going back over that way soon to spend time checking out more areas by Franklin and wayah bald area.

      This past sunday (4/7) i was doing trail magic and got to meet Ms Janet and her sweet pup Dexter at the Sam's gap trail head by flag pond and erwin,TN. She is a cool person and a wealth of knowledge about life hiking on the AT. She told me she had been providing shuttle services for over 30 plus years.
      II will most definitely continue doing trail magic in the erwin/roan mountain/hot springs and watauga lake areas. It would be an honor to provide drinks and food to you guys. You guys will love hot springs. t is the cutest tiny mountain town that caters to the hiking community and motor cycling groups that ride the winding road that runs from newport,TN over to hot springs,nc. They have natural hot springs bath houses that you all night , enjoy to help reduce the muscle soreness from all them long hiking days.

    Looks like you both had a wonderful Nero Day ❤ What is the difference, if there is a difference, between a Nero Day and a Zero Day? I’ve heard both terms. Also, may I ask, what are some of the hardest things to get use to or the harder things living out on Trail? I’m seriously considering doing the AT next year with my pup but most videos typically just show all the good things and not the hard realities and the UNglamerous aspects of doing a Thru hike of the AT ❤

    • @rangerinthewoods
      @rangerinthewoods 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A Nero is a day of few miles, like maybe 4 or 5. A zero is a whole day spent at a hostel or other accommodation. If you'd like to see a person who kept reality in her videos I recommend Hiking with Braids.

    • @cumberlandquiltchic1
      @cumberlandquiltchic1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought of that issue before the signing… it was the bag of hot dog buns evryone was touching and putting their hands in to pul apart. If folks are going to do trail
      Magic, they need to be aware that they need to put gloves on and handle food , and NOT let hikers be allowed to touch anything that would go on to someone else to touch. Not good at all!

    • @cumberlandquiltchic1
      @cumberlandquiltchic1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you look at that part, you see woman opening package of cups and lid on pretzel jar … all to be touched by someone else. Im sure condiment bottles, on and on. They need to educate folks in teail
      Magic. Each of those buns should be ready to hand to hikers in a paper holder with smal packs of condiment or they handle the bottle and serve what they want.

    The NP Service has just released a Norovirus alert for GA, TN, and NC, which indicates it is following the bubble. I'm concerned for your health when I see you reaching into communally shared bun bags and pretzel jars. This is the behavior that Norovirus thrives on. Be careful.

    • @wildflowersadventures
      @wildflowersadventures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for your concern. We didn’t eat any of the pretzels or communal food. After thoroughly washing my hands, I opened that bag of hotdog buns (not shown on camera) and was very careful to not touch any of the other buns. We are taking precautions and are aware of Noro. We even set up a handwashing station at camp. Thank you!

    The intro to this video is turning out to be an outright lie
    "Through years if prep and training"
    They either lied and did no training at all, or there definition of training is laughable.
    Real training wouldn't and does not result in what these two have pulled in the past 2 weeks.
