As someone for whom genuine affection is a private thing, I’m pretty sure I’ve always understood Travis’ desire to avoid romance in D&D. I’m genuinely proud of him for taking the step, and I totally get the blushing.

The only thing that is missing is Travis's scream just before the break: "STOP LOOKING AT ME!"
Seeing Travis do that live was so wild and sureal, from grog being mister "lady favors", Ale, and killing to Fjord being able to exspress romantic interests. So proud and so awesome
When I watched that live, it was about 11 pm and my apartment has thin walls, so I know that my neighbors probably heard me screaming, even through the pillow

I mean, Laura is a bit've a bitch for spending 4ish months bullying the guy into it. Travis is an obvious introvert and private person(Based on my observations and literally what he's said in Talks). Taking his discomfort as a "challenge"(Again, expressed in Talks) is pretty fucked, even for the waifu.
Gotta love the viewership, though. Gradually turning Critical Role into a Lifetime movie one approval at a time, rather than respecting the players' boundaries and letting them play D&D how they want to play it.
@@JohnSmith-zf3yk not sure if much of that tracks. Pretty sure there's plenty of communication with that group (and married couple) that would ensure boundaries aren't overstepped. Can't say much about fanbase stuff but pretty sure the players were driving the relationship dynamic
@@JohnSmith-zf3yk I saw it as one of the situations where a more out going partner is able to draw the more reserved partner into attempting something new. I remember when a girl who was a trained dancer pushed me into dancing with her once. I felt as graceful as a bogged tractor... but I treasure the memory. Travis probably had to go do some push ups or something afterwards... but I bet he'll love the memory.
@@JohnSmith-zf3yk I think Laura just helped Travis in this situation and not pushed him. Everyone at the table was surprised even Matt and Laura. And they said lots of time that if someone don’t feel comfortable about something then you don’t do it. And the fact that Travis and Laura are married in really and that everyone at this table are long time friends really don’t make me think that Travis was forced or anything.
Not only was it a great character moment but Travis got a lot of bonus points there husband-wise, Laura was grinning from ear to ear at him.
The added music to that moment with Fjord and Jester definitely made me cry more than the first time I saw it. Also, Marisha being her book goblin self will forever be utterly adorable.
I loved watching everyone else react to Fjord kissing Jester then, getting all excited when Matt called break. So good! Also, Fjord being a gentleman and asking Jester if he could kiss her!! God I ship it so hard!!!
I remember the first time in Campaign one that two of the players had a romantic moment, and the whole cast was losing their shit during the scene. They've come a long ways, haha. They still geek out, but they hold it in a lot better to not distract from the scene.
imagine being able to make your husband fall in love with you twice, once in real life and once in dnd. Laura bailey really is legendary.

@@TheDisquietingNight To explain it quick, Sam wore a shirt that had a photo of Marisha from when she was really young, and she spent a full minute having obvious facial reactions after seeing it before saying anything out loud. It was great just to watch her reactions as she realized Sam was wearing a picture of her.
Its just a shame that only Laura and Ashley noticed it when he did the reveal. It was a slow burn, but worth it.
I think what's amazing about that Fjord/Jester scene is how when Jester makes the joke about Fjord liking her because of her cheekbones, she's essentially giving Travis an out to end the scene on a comedic note. Instead, Travis pushes on through anyway, what a legend.
Yeah, its a really great moment. You can just see Travis summoning his courage to actually go through with it, its starting to turn a bit awkward, Laura clearly picks up on it a gives him an out. Yet he goes through with it. So sweet.

As someone called Robin I heard the "you went full Robin, you never go full Robin" - missing the Hood part. Made me double take at Taliesin, like "Bro. Rude." Lmao

Death flags aren't really a thing in an improvised game/story lol. If there is a death that's just coincidence and not foreshadowing.
@@matthewmiller1847 This kind of moment mostly used for when someone is going to die. How? We don't know but what we know is that someone is going to die. This kind of death flag used in series (from cartoons, anime, etc), and books. You get my meaning. It becomes so normal that some people on the internet say that "hey, that is a death flag don't do that!".
@@Sir_Tentacle I get what a death flag is, but it's a form of foreshadowing and you can't really foreshadow something that is left up to chance. Matt Mercer can foreshadow big events (the like manacle symbolism for the Chained Oblivion) but the players couldnt possibly know when or if a character is going die in future games. Therefore, there can't be a "death flag" because that would imply prior knowledge or planning of a future event in an improvised game, and they don't do that.

@@UponThisAltar Short version: Eldritch gods from beyond have conquered the world, and the players control a batch of humans that escaped the harvesting and made a little village to survive. Half the game is the players doing civil engineering and building the town bigger and bigger to save more people, the other half is DnD style quests with bands of heroes hunting down the terrifying abominations that ruined earth. Most likely they will die a lot

This last episode really encapsulated why we all love this group so much. On so many levels, as well, not only the drama and the feelings they invoke in themselves the other cast members and all us fans, but also the look at them as people geeking out over a scene their friends rp'ed out together. They are truly amazing people as well as voice actors and rp'ers, which always seems to come out in small ways we get to see. All the love in the world to Matt and the gang, but also to you fellow critters.

I think in one episode Jester sends a message to someone around the lines of "I am the orphanmaker" and adds a little theme song in the end with the "do do do do", because she had a couple of words left to add to the message. I don't know about the phrasing anymore, but I am pretty sure it's a reference to that time! Perhaps it's in one of the Laura Bailey compilations for campaign 2 out there \o/
