@@WDWNTI’m 100% convinced that this vocal minority won’t be pleased with what Disney does period. Even perfectly good stuff I’ve heard whining and complaining about. Not for nothing but when was the last completely new Universal land before Epic Universe?

OK,...we ALL know what will happen. Disney will "Blue Sky Painting" the HELL out of us and we will all be mesmerized at their ideas. Ten years later when it's all done we get disappointed that all budgets are massively slashed over the years and we only get HALF of what they promised. C'mon,....we WANT to be excited...but deep down in our hearts, we know it's true. Disney ALWAYS does this to us. They just don't have the money to build what they "say" they want to build. Disney just want's to excite the stockholders before Nelson Peltz returns to run against Iger again. Believe only HALF of what you see at D23.
100%. You can make a list miles long of experiences announced that were never built.
I somewhat think it depends on how the universal park does. Universal is betting that Disney has underbuilt for the market for a long time. If they are right and epic universe ends up being effectively sold out for most of the year, Disney is going to push through with mostly everything. If epic universe his the brakes and universal has to offer more aggressive deals Disney may cancel some things but I think they still mostly build because they are so far behind on active expansion.
Universal will be done their park next year and Disney will not have anything ready even announced for probably 3 years outside of maybe test track retheme.
@@kwh1183 - Exactly. D23 is going to be a TON of "show" to make it "look" like they have an answer to Universal. Jeez,...Disney doesn't even have the money today to PROPERLY MAINTAIN the attractions they already have! Before Disney spends a penny on anything new....they need to REPAIR and RESTORE attractions (and other park fittings) that they already operate today! Everything is falling apart or burning down due to lake of maintenance budget and now they want to sell us on billions of new ideas they have? Hahaha!
@@mattdaaamon Disney over offers a lot of things, but fail to deliver. I am not sure about Universal's Epic Universe yet. The plan sounds great and concept sounds cool, but the final product remains up in the air to really judge. I hope Universal doesn't end up a massive failure like Disney, over hyping but underwhelming in execution.
They have the money. They’re just putting it into movies and tv series that flop.
The most important thing I've learned about big announcements at D23 is to manage my expectations. The biggest thing I'm wondering about is whether Franz Oz will come to the Legends induction ceremony or not. I kind of hope he doesn't.

Disney, bring back the PeopleMover at Disneyland----and Horizons at Epcot.
Does anyone honestly believe Iger and Co have the competence to implement any sort of major improvements?! They'll over promise, show a bunch of pie in the sky renderings and then deliver a low budget half baked product.

Tom, I'm in a big FB group about this event and there are people losing their minds because they have a chance to meet the cast of Grey's Anatomy. So I guess not everyone is a Disney Animation/Parks fan only, lol

I am ABSOLUTELY here supporting you with all the Tokyo content, including the vlogs. I've loved it all, and I hope it's opening the eyes of some American Disney fans to the magic that is Tokyo Disney. I've been singing the praises of TDL for nearly 30 years and I'm glad to know I'm not alone. ❤
Horizons was a big teaser for me though I would love an update to Journey into Imagination.
My only problem with the Tokyo blogs is now I REALLY want to visit the parks there!!
Been to all of D23’s since there exception in 2009 my advice is go In with low expectations even after the expo is over! we saw what happened with Epcot! And other projects ! But enjoy it as much as u can
@@disneyguy3116 I have been going for years as well. I don't go for the announcements, I'll hear about those later (nice to be there but not the main draw). I go to be with other fans, peek behind the curtain through the many interesting panels, and the cool showfloor stuff
Disney use to be the highest standard for amusement parks is how i remember them but since being older and now pay for myself and fam i find Universal is better.

@@WDWNTthe Bear Band Serenade should have been kept you have to agree that is an original song and an iconic one plus all the songs were sung to really bring out each bears individual character now they seem just like some traveling circus not a group of old country and folk singers
Disney could win me and many other old school fans by brining back Horizons!!! 💡- I personally would tear out the motor cars 🚗 at the magic kingdom and replace it the an ALL-New Horizons in Tomorrowland!
They could create an all new ride system, bring in all new state of the art technology, while still honoring the original but mind blowing 🤯 and still family friendly! It would be high capacity and a great way for people to get out of the heat, sit down and enjoy a fun ride. I miss 😢 Horizons so much’ was my favorite Epcot ride. Who else likes 👍 this idea for a change in the MK. Plus, add blue LED lighting on the outside of the people mover cars! That would add so much visibility and kinetic energy to Tomorrowland! It would help connect it connect the new Tron with the old Tomorrowland better. Thoughts on this idea anyone? 💡

Woo Hoo! For the 30th Anniversary of TOT!! One of my favorite rides! I was a cast member when this ride opened and remember riding it during the cast member previews, back when they only dropped you once! We would get off and run back in line to ride it again. I rode it 13 times in a row! Still have my cast member exclusive TOT lithograph they had for sale for cast members at the time.
Also they call it Disney experiences which means they won’t focus just on the parks but also cruises etc. we’ve fallen for this so many times where we get our hopes up based on nothing and nothing concrete is announced it’s just very generic what ifs and then a few new meet and greets. Fool me twice…
So many times? They announced New Fantasyland and Star Tours II in 2009, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2015, the ongoing expansions in 2022 and that’s just off the top of my head
Was hoping they were going to rebuild Epcot Horizons. Oh well.
Dude you hooked me thinking we were getting new monorails and a new Horizons ride in Florida! That’s cruel 😅 But you got me thinking…what if they revamped the imagination Pavillion with a ride that sort of combined Horizons and Journey????????? 🤔 or what if they just put a horizons type ride into the old wonders of life Pavillion right next door to where it used to reside. It might thematically be at home in World discovery. Just an idea

Actually excited to back and watch the Tokyo vlogs I missed and the ones coming out! Planning a trip for spring. My summer has been fully loaded but excited to binge the Tokyo vlogs when things calm down (hopefully on a beach with a cocktail).

It just seems to me that the powers that be within D23 wants to replicate ComiCon - with all the unnecessary fan panels and TV/Movie stars making unnecessary appearances together.
Who TF would waste a single minute on a Grey’s Anatomy Anniversary Celebration?!?
Ask yourself why has greys anatomy been on for 21 seasons? It's a stupid show at this point but fans exist.

The last few D23 Parks panels have been awful, they have nothing to announce so come up with 'blue sky' concepts that might, or rather most likely won't happen so I'm not holding my breath for anything mind blowing this time either. Other things they announce also get cancelled eg the Mary Poppins ride at Epcot.
Um villains land the tropical Americas and beyond big thunder are all happening
@@Mammothsaber-4457 No they aren't. Those were the 'blue sky' concepts I was talking about. Give me an official Disney press release stating when they are happening and when construction is starting, then I'll believe you. Disney has not even mentioned Big Thunder closing, all fan speculation.
Tropical Americas was updated and they recently showed the model and filed permits.
Abbott elementary I could see myself going to.
We couldn't get admission to the Honda center just the convention center. Hearing this I'm even more bummed about that. Our first time going too!

Hey Tom, I may not be a fan of Abbott Elementary but the show is huge! I recall years ago at DCA they would have “ABC TV Festival” (or something like like) and the fans poured in to see the stars from the TV shows, especially the soap operas which were still going strong back then. I bet the Abbott panel will fill up very quickly. ANd I do like they have something for everyone.
But those aren’t really “Disney” things other than that Disney owns it
@@WDWNT They are doing Grey’s Anatomy as well. As far as I recall they have always done a showcase for ABC programs and every aspect of the company. (and both those shows are on Hulu). They are also having showcases on ESPN and Hulu. So that all fits in.
Tom, you're completely right that the last rides on Monorail X is for adults, but the ads for the last rides of other last trains in Japan often cater to children (nostalgia factor). I *love* the Tokyo Vlogs. Thanks for doing them.
They better announce way more info on that avengers e ticket at this years d23. Especially since they announced it all the way back in 2019.

I can appreciate the optimism for “Horizons” but it will be nothing but Blue sky drawings making everyone all excited and none of it will ever happen. Just like all the “cool stuff” that was supposed to happen at Epcot and look at the crap we got. All the stuff for the overseas parks will happen but DLR & WDW won’t get anything. Just being honest with expectations.
What “cool stuff” is missing from EPCOT? A Mary Poppins tea cup ride?

I promise that I am not tired of watching these. I just have not had time to focus on them solely to watch them. I have to play catch up and binge watch to catch up. This has been a "cruel summer" of sorts and I will leave it at that as I am keeping why private.
I'm dreaming of Disney reimagining the Journey Into Imagination attraction into Horizons, hosted by the Dreamfinder, AND moving Figment to a 4DX Journey Into Imagination Experience in the theater part of the building, including the famous Imagination song!
Is it possible to put aquatopia at dca replacing the zephyr, the vehicles will ride along the edge of the dca giant pond during the day and will close early for world of color. We need more use of that pond😂

Regarding the Tokyo Disney Resort Resort Line chartered train, the reason the July 27th to August 31st session is reccomended for elementary school students is because it is their summer break and they return to school in September. The school year begins in April and ends in March.
Yeah but it’s a farewell for a monorail and their audience is adults primarily.

Go to Mitamamatsuri (Mitama Festival) at Yasukuni Shrine this weekend (12th through 16th),Tom ! You will regret it if you miss out on this festival, and I highly recommend you buying baby castella, takoyaki, and mizuame (water candy) at the festival.

Tom, how do they treat people with disabilities at the parks in Japan. I have heard they are not very welcoming to those in mobility scooters or wheelchairs. I saw a gentleman who was unable to get on any rides. Thank you for all your information.

It’s weird cause I remember a few years ago Tom was VERY vocal about supporting the wdw castmembers striking for increased pay. I had hoped he and the team would have showed more ferocious outcry over the Das changes and the Disneyland actors union. I mean maybe they’re just busy since Tom’s in Japan and there’s a lot going on, but I don’t know I feel like serious stuff that negatively effects castmembers and physically disabled guests should take some priority.

@@adamp2384Yeah Eric made a lovely statement and the Park center crew did a short segment on it when I asked. Yet while they had an article about the girl on a respirator getting denied das it wasn’t even mentioned in wdw news today.
