I was helping my dad as a child and when I have seen you and your daughter working as a team, it made me think about that priceless times. I am still taking some time with my dad every year to travel and enjoy life and I am 40. You are building someting great that is not a camper but a friendship with your child.
Thanks 2012escapee1 for the kind words. We had a lot of fun on this project and have some more fun stuff in the works for this summer. Thanks for watching.
i find this video is very cool and sentimental because a so long abandoned Van drives now on the streets there!!! i almost cried... this video deserves more than 245 Likes!!! you are the best
Thanks for watching and commenting Daniel. So glad you enjoyed the video. It was a fun project that everyone got involved with. Check out our latest Forgotten Camper Video and again thank you for watching. Jeremy. VW Split Window Bus Field Find Lives Again. Forgotten Volkswagen 1960 Camper
Mofombo Mo Thank You for the props. We had a blast on this bus. We cleared out almost three weeks and focused on this one project. My daughters had just got out of school and this is how we kicked off our summer last year. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching.
I can't believe I stumbled on this. The 'forgotten van' just completed a 2400 mile trek to Michigan and is sincerely LOVED! I plan to drive it to Florida in a couple of weeks to spend the winter. I am updating the inside and will be sharing pictures as it is complete! Thanks Jeremy for bringing this beauty back to life!
A beautiful story the kids will love it and its a great experience. Got a '66 bug myself I'm trying to put back on the road for the first time since '82
Man, my grandparents had an identical one, but when grandpa died it stayed dormant for over a decade as he was the only one capable of tuning the carbs. Although it was sold and restored by the next owner, I'm kind of wishing it was still around as I've now also picked up the VW illness. A mk1 golf/rabbit project will suffice for now, but I really want an air-cooled veedub. Simply beautiful.
1 nephew told me the first time he ever turned a wrench was taking a carb off his grammas car with me.He is now a heck of a fine mechanic.I had no idea how that influenced him.
We are a small company in Florida renting out VW Buses. I love each and every one, and they each have their own personality. Thank you for saving these buses!!! Great video & I love how you gave the young girl her own jobs. She will keep the love of VW Buses in her heart and help keep these beautiful air-cooled VW dubs alive!
Thanks Florida Campers. I actually have looked at your site several times and watched some videos on youtube that feature your buses. We put some serious thought into doing a VW Bus rental program here in Idaho. We figured with Yellowstone National Park very close that it would be a great area to rent old VW Campervans. The only problem here is that our season is very short and after crunching the numbers and talking with our insurance agent we put the idea on the back burner. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Awesome. Doing this has been on my bucket list for a long time. Unfortunately a spinal injury 6 years ago took away that dream. Enjoy and congrats, I am envious.
Just happin to stumble on to your videos....This one really hit home...I grew up in a family much like yours .VW EVERY WERE....At one time my father had 85 bugs and bus's.....We had a 78 camper just like this one only red...We live in Indiana, and when we would go on vacations this what we took,Florida, Colorado (went up pikes peak in it, and yes dad did adjust the carbs for the climb) He started racing porsche speedsters back in the late 50's and early 60"s and thats how he got into the vw's!!! If I had half of the (now rare vw,s he had ) I would be sitting large.....He was and still is very well know around this state and surrounding states as THE VW MAN....He is 78 now and still likes to tinker.....KEEPEM ALIVE JEREMY CUTTS!!!!
dalesnale This one wasn't too bad but it was a solid 3 weeks. I was so sick of orange paint by the time I finished buffing this old bus. Thanks for watching.
you have to be very proud with the ristoration. Contrats, very good job !. My father had an VW T1 of 65´s when i was child and im looking for one 28 years later...
As a father, I'm sure you already know how special this time with your daughter is. She may not be fully aware of it though. But as she gets older...especially as an adult...she will look back on these times as some of the best times of her life. People love to talk about the bond between a mother and child...and it's very real. But people so often underestimate the bond between a father and daughter. As the father of 2 girls.....I know how epic that bond and love is.
firstmusic00 Thanks for watching and the very cool comment. I hope I'm doing right by them. I try and balance my hobbies with my daughters hobbies and make the most of the time we spend together. Thanks for watching. JC.
omg i just love the sound of the car door sliding and shutting... is wonderful... i mean when i was a kid i always went in van with family and friends... it was great!
you know friend, you and your family moved me with the work, it is admirable. Regards, I`m George from Santiago, Chile. And, I have a 1303 of the year 1973 and a kombi 1989 brazilian.
What a great family project! Just stumbled across your channel and it's so cool to see your whole family pitching in and helping out! Very inspirational. Great job dad...
***** The VW paints are great for buffing. There is plenty of thickness and you can really get after it without burning through. It turned out pretty nice considering how old it was. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. JC.
The cute little girl shown helping her dad at the 4:30 mark, I bet that she will be an expert restorer and VW mechanic before she even has a drivers license.
LarryC213 She is a pretty good little helper Larry but her passion is more along the lines of anything cute and fuzzy. She has been focusing her efforts lately on animal rescue and has several little critters she's currently taking care of. I try and support her in her passions and we have fun no matter what it is we are doing together. Thanks for watching. JC.
so glad someone had the forsite to keep it indoors, ive got an 83 elco and you can tell from the bleached pain job its been kept outdoors for years before i got it
Sputer Head It sure was nice to find it indoors. I'm sure if it would have been left outside that it would have been a much more difficult project. Thanks for watching. JC.
So well your work and so nice the kleinbus. I had any of the '76, orange too with motor 2.0 and look as that. Those are very strong and compfortable vehicles. Congratulations,!!!
I'm becoming more and more interested in these VW Busses . They're so different from anything I've ever driven and I'm really starting to like the look . I'd love to drive one sometime .
There are several VW bus rental companies out there that offer vintage bus rentals. One you should check out is Florida Oldschool Campers. Here is their website. www.floridavwrentals.com/ Check them out if you are ever in the Tampa area.
Happy to help. Keep us posted on what you think. If you get ready to buy hit us up. We may not have what you are looking for but can possibly steer you in the right direction. Good Luck.

Man... That's a beauty. :D Well done dude. You make restoring a classic look quick and easy... At times I wish I could hit fast forward when restoring my beetle :P
There isn't another car out there like them. The Domestic Vans also were converted back in the day but they just didn't seem to take off like the VW did. Thanks for watching. JC.
I had an absolutely beautiful 1974 Westfalia I bought in California back in 1993 to replace a 1989 Subaru that was broadsided and destroyed. Almost destroyed me and my 1 year old at the time too, but that is a different story. This bus was almost complete and the guy who sold it was in a hurry to get rid of it. He was a Taiwanese businessman who was in a hurry to get it out of his garage because he didn't have time for it anymore (it had been his son's). The tires were dry rotted to the concrete floor and brakes were near gone. The top had never been popped and the mattress was still wrapped. Cost $700 at the time and I got to mobile tech to change tires an do brakes just as the guy was locking his house to catch a flight. Loved that Westy. but had to sell it soon after as my wife was hurt at work and the Westy just drove too harshly for her broken neck. It's still here in Texas somewhere but with the renumbering of the rural routes, and the the barn I'm sure it's sitting in, I can't seem to locate it. Other than the fact it IS still in Texas though not on the road. It was owned and bought by a Navy Commander at Coronado and at some time had been repainted a beige color. I still have the original owners manual with all pertinent historical data. Sure wish I still had the beast. it was sure nice.
