EPIC! Just EPIC! Very well done sir! I loved the show back in the day. For me it was Star Trek The Next Generation but in the ocean. The Sea Quest was such a unique sub. It is such a shame we never really got a lot of toys, models or replicas of it which makes this top tier project so special. Thank you again and very well done!
Seaquest started to come apart after season 2. A number of the actors including Roy Schider all wanted more money to come back, then they decided on a complete direction change moving the series to a more military focused format. After that Dr Bob Ballard said he wasn’t going to do any more after ocean science segments while the credits rolled. And a number of actors wanted out. After that they moved into a more military focused season 3 and viewership tanked. They made the decision midway through season 3 to kill the show and seaquest DSV was gone. It didn’t help that sometimes sporting events running over or post game stuff would push it to air at 3am some nights. It was a good show at tbe start but like all good TV medaling by networks wanting more “ action” kills more procedural shows like seaquest DSV
Beautiful and brings a lot of memory. I was in my early teens when the show first aired and my sister had a celebrity crush with the resident handsome actor. I sculpted a model of the DSV from a small piece of wood with a cheap folding knife. This was back before the internet is a thing my country so I had to sculpt it from memory. I found the model/sculpture several years back I was surprise that I was able to get the general shape right back then. Really, that was first and only time I sculpted something in my teens with that flimsy 20 cent knife. And now I have a 3D printer which I bought on a whim last year because I wanted to build and print submarines from the video games Diluvion and Subnnautica. Sadly...I got sidetrack printing toys for my nephews and projects for school.
Nice! Loved this show as an aforementioned kid of the nineties! Can you build an R/C Stinger next? The small dolphin looking submersible Lucas builds in the show?
Okay that is just cool! It looks like it is about twice as large as the kit I bought in the 90's. I got 3 of the 4 that were issued, Seaquest, Lucas' mini sub, and Darwin. I missed out on the mining sub. (I still have them too) I do wonder if Lucas' mini sub could be made as an RC craft. I understand the sub that was shown as his competitor in the race episode is an actual minisub you can buy or rent now. Making the swimming action would be tricky though. Very cool!
OMG 😮 , take money 💰 I need this Rc I love seaQuest, and I also need your RC Nautilus those are my two favorite subs. I grew up watching those movies and shows, I run a Rc channel and wanted a Rc sub forever perfect for my pool, I will save my money and buy your products thank you for bringing my childhood to life, I subscribed
Well that was just fantastic. Even knowing it's not necessarily ideal for a sub, I'd still want one... though I think I'd love to see RC versions of the little support craft, like the transports and flatbeds. I feel like they'd make better subs overall.
I'm not a water RC guy, so forgive me if this is an ignorant question: is there a bow thruster system that would work and make turning better? Nice model!
There are systems available. The room in this boat is quite limited, however. I'm sure it could be done, but it would be challenging in such a small model. Additionally, thrusters are only really effective when the boat is stationary, not while under speed.
Surface vessels over a given mass are called ships. The ability to carry other craft isn’t required. Submersibles have always been called boats. Don’t know why.
0:40 800 miles long? Where'd you come up with that number? I thought you might have meant meters, or didn't know the difference between a mile & a meter... but the sub wasn't 800 meters in the show either. The "seaQuest DSV 4600" is canonically 1007 feet long (307 meters). For comparison, a Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier is 332.8 meters long overall, or 317 meters at the waterline. SeaQuest DSV is thus 10 meters (33 feet) shorter than the waterline of a modern Nimitz-class carrier. To compare to modern submarines, the Ohio-class missile submarine is 170 meters long, and the Project 941 Akula (Typhoon-class) missile subs were 175 meters long.
OMG some people just cannot get basic information correct. The Sea Quest DSV sub is NOT 800 miles long. It's 307.1 meters (1,007.55 feet) long with a crew of 88 military and 124 science personnel.
@@RCSubGuy It's not sarcasm at all. The fact you quoted in the video saying Sea Quest DSV is 800 miles based on your account just proof you have no idea just how big 800 miles is which is beyond shocking.
83" hull is printing now, but that is for a friend. Even at those larger scales, the WSKRS would be too tiny to function. Maybe it could pop them out and let them float to the surface. Much better to think about a scale functional speeder IMO.
I would have loved this when I was a kid...as an adult, I am trying to remind myself I have a mortgage. I have actually seen these on eBay, but they are pricy.
I'm pretty sure this will have several problems if you try using it in sea-water. (Sea water is conductive, which means all the places where electronics is exposed to sea water, it'll short-circuit - well, sort of, it'll just use lots and lots of power and resistors values will be completely off. Conductive sea-water will also bring in another problem: You can't send radio-signals through to sea water, because it's conductive). -The first problem, where electronics is exposed to the water could easily be solved, but the second one, I'd be happy to hear if anyone has a solution. 😉
Perfectly fine in salt water, provided extra care is taken to waterproof connections. You'll need to run an antenna above the surface for wireless control.
Did I hear right? 800 Miles long? Don't think so. Fandom page talks about 1007 feet when you live in a country with a body part fetisch :) Must be about 300 Meters in Metric system.
@@RCSubGuy Yes please, that would be kind. As a non native english speaker it's sometimes hard to detect english sarcasm :) It's so shallow most of the time.
Next time I'll be sure to let everyone understand with a giant flashing title when I attempt some humor. SeaQuest was stupidly, unrealistically and comically long. I was making fun of that.

I absolutely loved that show. I have always wanted something like this. It would be a dream to have one.
That thing is gorgeous. Takes me back!
Hour and a half upload , i was so excited - then 10 minutes in it was over😢
Beautiful job on the sub 👌🏼
I wish we could get more SeaQuest, such a cool show

Epic build my friend as you know I love that series !! Btw I like your up graded pool !!!! Lucas lagoons would be proud !!!
Yeah, wanna have one.
I love Seaquest DSV.
This is so cool! I love SeaQuest. Even though the show is probably very dated for most people I still love it and rewatch it occasionally.
Been waiting years for this. Awesome job

As a great Fan from the Series i only say "Wow what an amazing great work!"
SeaQuest was one amazing show and those subs were cool
Such a wonderful and underrated show. It did not deserve to be canceled. Also, you got the size wrong.
Awesome! Now you need some RC Whiskers.

WOW,thanks for the memories,I loved that show, esp the first couple of seasons... 😊
Have you done a Seaview (Voyage to the Bottom Of The Sea) ?
i loved seaquest as a kid miss that show.
Great TV series dude I loved it
My favorite tv series of all time.
🙄 enterprise D would sink this thing in a split second 🤷♂️😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sea quest DSV rocks! 🐙
Another great build, Bob 👏🙂

gotta add the W.S.K.R.S (whiskers) somehow. tethered led's or something.
Exactly!
Fabulous model ,you are a genius.
I want to say early 2000s I had bought a plastic model that if I remember correctly was half of that size.
Are there 3D print models available for those who want to put the work in on their own?

Tremendous work. Bravo!
Got to admit that the intake tubes actually look like they are meant to be there
I had a model of that back in the 90's.
This is one of those times I must be a responsible adult & stand firm. So with that said "stop talking & take my money!"

Fantastic
Question: subs are referred to boats but since seaquest carried a compliment of helper submersibles wouldn’t she technically be classified as a ship
Surface vessels over a given mass are called ships. The ability to carry other craft isn’t required. Submersibles have always been called boats. Don’t know why.
I NEED one!
Man…I wish you’d release/make a 2nd run of this kit 😢
Also, Mr. Trek is a channel with a guy actually building a 1\25 scale TOS Enterprise full interior.
gorgeous
Doesn't the water cause drag on the spinning part of the motor? Kind of like trying to move your hand through water fast.
i love that tv show. i used watch them when i was kid. i was piss off they cancel it
They have those dolphin submersible if I remember correctly.
Love a bit of WetTrek

How about some WISKER. LED lights on stand off.
Do you mean 800 meters instead of 800 miles long?
That is real nice,I hope you start selling those again.
I love it but what if I gave an even more extremely difficult challenge by trying to ma 3 to 4 times larger Seaquest but with working W.S.K.R.S. .
83" hull is printing now, but that is for a friend. Even at those larger scales, the WSKRS would be too tiny to function. Maybe it could pop them out and let them float to the surface. Much better to think about a scale functional speeder IMO.
I remember the original seaquest, but DSV? Never heard of it.
The title of the show was literally, "Seaquest DSV", with the DSV standing for "Deep Submergence Vehicle"
Wait, it was supposed to be 8 mi long in the show lol? I don't remember that lol
Uhm, SeaQuest is 1,008 ft, not 800 miles 😉
Apparently someone is unfamiliar with obvious hyperbole. 😉
I think he means meters 😂
@@Eventwow It is still wrong, 1.008 ft is 307.1 metres 😆

They were rapture by alien that could not fight underwater if I remember.😮
So that's what it looks like! In the show, it was very hard to see. Too dark.
It's memory...
800 MILES long huh? that would be impressive but I think you got the wrong measurement scale there bud lol
Uhm i disagree.. ..the bio-hull is not "full functional"..

great show... until they were abducted by aliens, show was downhill from there.
First things first, the Seaquest wasn’t 800 miles long, it was 307.1 meters from stem to stern. Get your story straight!
