Just epic! The musicianship in this band is beyond compare. Tony Bank's sense of melody in his keyboard solos and counterpoint is always compelling. Phil's drumming is outstanding. His tom work alone proves he's one of the greatest drummers ever. Mike Rutherford's bass, guitar and taurus pedals provide the most amazing rhythmic licks and powerful bass rumble! Thank you Genesis and all involved in bringing us this epic recording!!
This track……is so special, ESPECIALLY THE INTRO, it’s so fricking amazing. This is my favorite studio album they’ve done, never get bored listening too it, it’s flawless
Genesis made their top 3 albums with 5, 4 and 3 members. "Selling England by the Pound" (5), "A trick of the tail" (4) and "Duke" (3). And the same with his best songs: "Supper's ready", "Firth of Fifh", "One for the vine", "Duke's travels/Duke's end". And on all those issues, Tony Banks is key.
Hello Jose, I’m just enjoying the music. Sorry to correct you but Supper’s Ready is from the amazing Foxtrot. Vine is from W&W. Not that it matters really. The music of my life since October 1972, over 50 years now and I still enjoy it daily. If you get the chance to see the tribute group called the musical box, please do so. They are Canadian and absolutely incredible. 🍺
This is just pure farewell to huge era and decade of the best band ever… Duke was first pop/rock album by Genesis, but this was the last masterpiece for all progrock fans.

A very astute fan on the FB group, Access All Eras, brought up that Phil seems to be yelling ‘Hey!’ during Tony’s solo at 4:27, or so. Very hard to catch, I think drummer fans may pick it up faster, but he’s yelling Hey!, on I believe the downbeat of 4, in 6/8, and then again at the very next measure! It’s 2022, album came out in 1980, and an awesome person just changed the way I hear a song I’ve been blasting away for 42 freakin years that I’ll never unhear! Love it!! Anybody catch it? It’s so awesome!
I thought I heard something around 4:27, but it wasn't as noticeable as the goods train or the geese recorded in the background of John Martyn's Small Hours.
I have listened to a lot of prog and music in general and the bit from about 5:14 to about 5:30 is up there man, right up there with the gates of delirium by Yes at it's peak. It is epic and tight and brilliant.
Good spot, never noticed that before - because I've played Guide Vocal and it's defo not the same chord. He really is the king of the entirely unexpected yet perfect chord. In One for the Vine, right before and just after Phil sings "he walked into a valley", at 3.51 and 4.11 here. Just epic. th-cam.com/video/FA3q1Xzubp0/w-d-xo.html

The song that plays when you climb a mountain with a rocket nearing launch, and then in the solo you ride that rocket while the earth keeps throwing all its energy to the sky, and the time goes back, it just keeps going back while your speed on the rocket keeps increasing and then it just stops...
This is really a stand alone piece. I think they kind of padded Duke's Travels and Duke's End, but if it's "filler" material, it's still a fun listen and some great prog.

Yep, you just can’t have one without tother as they say in Yorkshire…… I think?! 👍🏼

All you know and all you feel
Nobody must know my name
For nobody would understand
And you kill what you fear
