In entry 6 of Gerald's Journal in Sonic Battle, Gerald states that Emerl got into the weapons room of the ARK and went out of control on a rampage with the amount of power he saw, since he had one Chaos Emerald installed he was really strong and managed to destroy a good chunk of the ARK, Gerald then states Emerl was stopped by the researchers but he doesn't know how since he didn't saw it, but he was reliefed Emerl only had a single emerald and said that with all seven he could've destroyed the earth
And the fact that Sonic defeated Ultimate Emerl in base form in 30 seconds.
See I don't know what people are talking about Shadow's voice actor is good and he can play a compelling SA2 version of him.

It's definitely a matter of opinion mate. Good voice direction plays a huge part in it. He's just been directed to play "dark edgy rival character."
I don’t understand how you don’t know what people are talking about. This isn’t a typical performance by him. He usually has much more growl in his voice. So people don’t really like it. He’s always had the potential.
And sometimes he gets better, like in more recent things. People were already liking his voice in the gameplay trailer. But this trailer is an example of something majority of the people at least seem to like.

@@taecampus Well it might be better for you in terms of dubs for the last 14 years but the emotional extremeness still doesn't follow the visual extremeness as heard in the Japanese PV. That's why it feels less about matter of opinion here and more about out of place line delivery.
The shadow animation graphics and music was so gorgeous. Especially the scenes with Shadow and Maria, love the focus they are having on their relationship☺️
2:23 No, GUN was given the reprogrammed Emerl as a token by Gerald to buy more time to finish Project Shadow.
The reason that likely drove GUN to order the Raid was likely the construction of the Eclipse Cannon as much as Shadow.
Remember in Shadow 05, Gerald reveals that the Eclipse Cannon was constructed for the purpose of destroying the Black Comet.
So it had to be built after Black Doom and Gerald made Contact rather late into Project Shadow.
And since the costs were out of control and getting hard to hide. The GUN Commander and the president of the United Federations at the time decided to cut their losses.
And shutdown the ARK before having to Find out what that new addition to the Space Colony that looked disturbingly like a big F-off Cannon was used for.
The animation looks so beautiful. Also very cute interaction between Shadow and Maria. Looking forward for the full shorts series.

I agree. People have a disturbing obsession with wanting to see Maria Robotnik get shot.
In Sonic Battle, Professor Gerald Robotnik had log files on Emerl. But you’d have to do a second run through the story to unlock them in each chapter.
It’s just overexcited irony sometimes sometimes takin to far.
Odds are the movie will chicken out on that little detail anyway and she will just die offscreen from the illness instead

@@BlackFlash09 technically SA 2 at least implied she was injured given she was weakly hunched over the the panel. Shadow did it best with a fade out but also made it seem like she died instantly wich obviously isnt the case given her last words to shadow

Small Correction. Shadow was created as the Source of an Immortality Serum.
That's was the original purpose of Project Shadow.
Gerald was planning on also using that research to cure Maria's Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
And the most tragic Part. Had the raid not happen Project Shadow would have been a success.
GUN would have been given their Immortality Serum, Maria would have been cured and finally allowed to travel the Earth with Shadow and the Black Arms would have been destroyed before ever being able to invade Earth.
Since Gerald would have still been around to fire The Eclipse Cannon at the Back Comet.
Beacuse again Immortality Serum.
Shadow was also created as a combat weapon as stated in Battle, that's even a huge plot point in Shadow's Story in Sonic Battle
@@LuucasIckie Well when you are imbued with Chaos Powers and are the "Son" of Black Doom, that kind of comes with the territory.
Also GUN were cutting their losses after the ARK was shut down.
Since the Immortality Serum was now a lost cause, getting a Living Weapon out of the deal was a good consultation price.
What was the reason for the raid to begin with? It's been so long since I played sa2 through shadow the hedgehog
@@renneperez6564 It was a combination of factors.
First Project Shadow was a top secret endeavor and the insane amount of funding and resources was getting hard to hide.
Second after the Biolizard fiasco and the mess with Emerl on the ARK, GUN lost quite a bit of trust in Gerald.
Third on a related note, They were worried about Gerald amassing such a collection of powerful experiments, Shadow first and foremost.
And Fourth the Eclipse Cannon. Gerald mentioned it in Shadow 05 that he built it to destroy the Black Comet.
But since he kept his deal with Black Doom a secret ,all GUN and the United Federations saw was a man they didn't trust, build an extremely expensive addition to the Space Colony ARK, that looked disturbingly like a Big F-off Space Cannon pointing straight down at them.
I am looking forward to seeing the Maria death scene in the third movie, not because I wanna see an innocent twelve year old girl get shot and killed but because I am hoping that Paramount handles that scene with the same amount of maturity and dignity as SA2
I completely agree with you, I look forward to the Maria death scene in Sonic 3 not because I want to see her die (because I don't), but because I don't want Sonic 3 to be filled with fart jokes and Fortnite dances and showing Maria's death in Sonic 3 (but obviously in a way that isn't too graphic) is a way to give Sonic 3 the amount of gravitas it truly deserves, just like SA2.
@Wolfie | Thankfully, this animation "Dark Beginnings" is going to be 3 Episodes long!
(Runtime of those episodes is currently unknown, BUT, at least there'll be THREE of them to feast on!!)

The official word from SA2's materials is that GUN raided the ARK because someone blew the whistle on the Biolizard, fearing for the ARK researchers' safety.
Now, given that the PA guy says "multiple subjects (from the weapons wing) are free from containment!", I wonder if that included the Artificial Chaos that we had to destroy in ShTH05.
Because if Emerl is responsible for one of the worst missions in Sonic history...! **cracks knuckles**

In sonic battle, they mentioned that Emerald went out of control and destroyed a good portion of the space colony ark. It looks like we’re finally going to get to see it happen.
I guess they really is paying attention to the lore?

Some are speculating that Emerl will also be a rival boss in the game as well as a playable character.

I thought Eggman made Gerald, before Tails reprogrammed him? No way, he sent him 50 years ago to attack the Ark knowing his grandfather was up there or his cousin he was jealous of.
Emerl is an ancient Echidna robot called a Gizoid. Sonic was forced to destroy him after Eggman made Emerl go berserk. Eggman would then build Gemerl based off of Emerl and he would be reprogrammed by Tails to be the protector of Cream and Vanilla

I honestly like the idea that the real reason why GUN raided the Ark is to stop Emerl's rampage. It makes Shadow's backstory more compelling than Shadow Good Military Guys Bad.

I love the animation and the heartwarming interaction between Shadow and Maria. I can't wait for the Dark Beginnings webseries
We're not excited to see a young girl get shot (it's a key part of shadow's character after all, it's what started his whole "edgy" phase despite his promise to Maria and lost his way), we're excited to see shadow's tragic backstory (with more content soon) and journey finally on the big screen
Kirk is getting better as Shadow, I think having good writing helps him

Believe it or not, there's actually a live action fan film dedicated to Shadow's origin story. It's very well done, heart breaking and is something I would love to see in the 3rd Movie. Just hope they don't screw it up after the situation with Knuckles.
I don’t know what’s harder to believe. That fact we have an high quality short series dedicated to Shadow, or the fact that WOLFIE said we need a Shadow the Hedgehog 2/Remake. Is this real?!?
