Thank you so much Todd for the shoutout. !!! Greetings from Oostende, Belgium to your excellent team. If I win the lottery the first thing I'll do is order a container of your finely restored pinballs to fill up my future mansion :-)
Here's another pinball that takes me back to my younger days! I remember having one of these for a little bit, I remember thinking it looked cheesy even when I was a little kid, but seeing it in action makes me want to play one again and give it a second chance!
also I don't remember the siren, so we must have had our fuse out when I played it! My dad must have known better than to leave me alone with a pinball with a loud siren in it!
you have to love how Gottlieb tried to capitalize on what was popular at the time without worrying about legal troubles (I.E. Gold Wings meant to capitalize on Top Gun and Hollywood Heat being a generic take on Miami Vice). I also love the air siren gimmick which was more of an annoyance for some operators.
your videos just becomes better! i loved your videos before (understanding pinball) but now that you also give tips like on the robowar how to do the ground cables etc helped me alot with my robowar! keep op the good work!!!!
Todd - love your videos and the work you guys do. HOWEVER, in the manual I have for Gold Wings, it does mention the differences in the Aux Lamp Driver boards. P35 shows the Aux Lamp Driver with 2N6043 (60V 8A NPN Darlington) and P43 shows the board with NSD-U45 (40V 1A NPN Darlington). P41 shows that the playfield lamps go to 1A11 and that the topper lamps go to 2A11. Lastly, the ToC on P19 states that the A11 board on P35 is for "Aux. Lightbox" and the A11 board on P43 is for the "Playboard" lamps. Is it all in one place? No. Does it take a bit of work to decipher? Yep. Is your pointing it out in the video a good thing? ABSOLUTELY! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for a close-up view of the topper in action. I have a Gold Wings that I shopped and had it running for a year, but now I need to troubleshoot after a year of being OOC. Going through the manual I spotted the topper in the diagram and I think I can make one, but I'm just starting to look into into it. Thanks for the info on the driver board for it. I would have probably made those same mistakes...
well if I was in a house I'd leave it in. but in an apt eh depends on if the bed above me is making alot of bumping noises :) think Heaven would be like waking up in a land populated with nothing but pinball games and beagles :)
Love your videos! Learn a lot. One thing is I wish you would sell led kits per game. You used to get them from Marco but they were basic. But I almost always like how you guys pick the color scheme for each game. Especially Gold wings and ice fever. Something I definitely want to do to both of my games. They don't need any extra fixing, just a great facelift with well placed color leds
hi, I'm interested in your Gold wings modification. Also have a problem with some lamps and domes which do not light while playing. Can we talk in private about that? Thanks. Valery
Heh, i coated my Gottlieb Arena legs and other metal parts (even ther spinner and that little ramp-plate) all gold just 2 weeks ago, seems i wasnt the only one with the gold idea LOL
Great tips and advice once again sir. Someone just practically gave me one of these because of wear and planking. I see that you guys painted the cab flat without the speckle...I think it looks better that way. I always thought speckled paint made games look worn. Why would anyone turn the siren off? It's so fun to not tell your friends about it and have them play only to scare the bajesus out of them when they hit it. ^_^
Good morning, I encounter a problem on my Goldwings pinball machine, I play a game, suddenly the flippers freeze, the lights go out, and the game starts again. I don't see where the problem is coming from, can you help me, thank you very much.
what they need is bulletproof glass. think I only cracked one glass when I was young (Blush) although I assume most pinball game glass is not tempered. having worked at Wausau Metals I just can't imagine um handling glass with my bare hands because of a story they told me when I worked there of a guy who dropped a pane of glass on his shoes and it went right thru the shoes. (no toes) need good gloves. everytime I see something bigger than I can handle
Man, yall said 16 lights were added, i spent 20 minutes locating my 16th light, there is only 15 lol, golden wings and 16, who makes mistakes like that? ^_^ the extra lights are nice, it makes my gold wings much brighter!
A License can run $25 to $50 PER MACHINE sold! That's the cost of a neat toy they could add to the playfield instead! Gottlieb was pretty business smart, and I think, made the maximum profit on each machine they sold over the years!
well glad he showed more under the playfield but didn't do anything int he head. (shock) anyway since I'm in a good mood. and you just pulled the Sure I'm not doing anything which my mom loves. She's having back surgery this coming friday so naturally can you give a shout out to my mom Elizabeth Bartholomew :) with kudos to "sure I'm not doing anything" which she gets quit often when she is with a bad back? (Cedar Falls, IA )
TNT Amusements Inc hope this surgery gets her feeling better. 5-6 days recovery in the hospital then 3-4 months or more to learn how to walk again. gonna be a long summer helping . Thanks!
wenn ich mir wieder mal einen Flipper kaufen würde, dann wäre es bestimmt keiner von Gottlieb. Er kann das so oft gut reden wie er will, aber viele der Flipper können den Bally/Williams -Flippern nicht das Wasser reichen.
Thank you so much Todd for the shoutout. !!!

usually always? gotta be one or the other :D very funny picking on Jason about Golden Wings. hmmm I feel hungry suddenly
Looks likes a fun machine! My neighbours would love it :)

Forgot to mention there were at least three different sirens I have seen inside...as Gottlieb probably had to buy what they could find!
your videos just becomes better! i loved your videos before (understanding pinball) but now that you also give tips like on the robowar how to do the ground cables etc

You're welcome!

Glad the video may help someone from blowing up their game down the road!! It certainly confused many folks once those boards were out of the game!
Wow, those GI mods look really nice. Well done yet again!
Thanks!

That air raid siren would be why I would buy one of these...lol
good work Todd!
You guys are doing beautiful work! Would love a Gold Wings.... probably with the fuse out. ;)
Thanks!

Lee Bartholomew Your comments never disappoint lol
We have one more Gold Wings in stock!!
We have another one!!!

Thank you...each game is slightly different that we do...the boys like to be creative!
Never played this, but it looks like it takes your breath away.
It's really fun!
Have you ever had my favourite machine 'Pink panther'? Pretty old game but I love it.
Haven't seen one in perhaps 15 years!
like Battlezone do'h... or one of those 10 foot long pinball tables O_O
hi,

Hi there, I wondered if you had a goldwings perspex display panel cover that you would consider selling?
+wozzer2727 sadly, they are impossible to find nowadays!
Heh, i coated my Gottlieb Arena legs and other metal parts (even ther spinner and that little ramp-plate) all gold just 2 weeks ago, seems i wasnt the only one with the gold idea LOL
Yes...it looks good!!

And Gottlieb used quite a few different lodel sirens too...they apparently couldn't buy enough of any one brand!
My most favorite part of this game is the siren that is activated by rolling over the 500k switch.
Yes...its quite an effect!

sounds like you need to do the Ground Mod for this system...we have a 9 minute video showing you how on the channel
Hey Todd, how about giving a pinball machine to your 1,000,000th viewer????
Mine has double 89s and LEDs work in them
If you reverse the wires, they sometimes work.

but, but, but....I thought I counted right?
Love the cheesy backglass. Gottleib was apparently too cheap to buy the license rights to Top Gun.

When I go to the Kroger deli all I think about is BBQ golden wings yummy.
Lyle Johnson Next time tell them you want GOLD WINGS!
