Really? We have tech to support medicine for example, but google decides to invest funds into a video game generator model? And for what?
really dubious about this. Can it do anything more than make a really generic platformer test environment? Even the simplest games need an objective, and only really bad ones use “now go there” as the goal.
Yes, you can make GTA VI just by taking a picture and providing a very lenghty and in-detail prompt. What do you expect? xD
In the span of a couple of years we have gone from being able to make obscure images from text prompts to being able to make 30fps realistic videos from a prompt. If it can make a simple platformer today it will be able to create more complex ones tomorrow and the pace of improvement will only increase in the short term. A lot is going to change due to AI in the coming years.
This is just the beginning. Do not expect this to be 100% perfect on day 1. It will improve over time.

what do you mean by that? game development is already accesible, some would call it too accesible since so many asset flips exist on the market with the goal of making a quick buck
what's wrong with this AI videos is that AI is gonna democratize so many fields, it's already accesible, art, 3d art, music now game development, I guess democratizing means " don't get experience by testing and failing for countless hours until you get something good, just skip through all of that and get a passable result without the sense of achievement and satisfaction that comes with doing any of those things"
don't get me wrong, this shit is impressive but the hype around it is the most horseshit thing that I've seen around a new technology
Ai is going to be the greatest spam invention in worlds history. Right now if you want to make a decent game, you have to beat thousands of bad ai generated quick releases by weirdos thinking theyre some genius because they use ai for everything
