    To help put the ice -> packed ice -> blue ice numbers into perspective:
    One stack of blue ice, crafted from scratch, would require 3 full shulkers of regular ice!

      It's like crafting gold blocks from gold nuggets, a gold farmer's usual annoyance, which will go away next year. The blue ice difficulty will stay, though, as it's "nuggets" are much slower to produce and harvest.

    Ice farms can also be built in snowy peaks, as the water freezing mechanic is present there as well, at least on Bedrock, not sure about Java. We can also find polar bears in snowy peaks, which is outstandingly funny. I need a way to set up a brawl between polar bears and goats.

      Yes, mountain biomes (but not "hill" biomes) freeze standing water above a certain altitude in Java Edition as well. The first ice farm built in season 1 was located in the mountains near the industrial area.

    Another thing about Mushroom Biomes, mob spawners will still produce mobs while inside the boundaries of the biome.

    • @CZghost
      @CZghost ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, cuz different spawning rules. Spawners only require complete darkness in certain radius to spawn mobs, it doesn't look at if the biome it is in can spawn those mobs naturally. Spawner mobs are not considered a natural spawn, even when the spawner was naturally generated.

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same as dungeons in the deep dark, or the magma cube spawner of a bastion in a soul sand valley. Biomes (and some structures) only dictate *natural* mob spawning, that is mobs spawning 24 to 128 blocks away from the player by the usual rules. Things like monster spawners, phantoms, pillager patrols, or the wandering trader follow separate rules that are not tied to the biome or structure.

    The Skeleton Trap Horse can spawn at lightning strikes even on mushroom islands which can then be triggered to spawn the mounted skeletons.

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Many things can hapopen in mushroom biomes because they are not "natural" spawning. Zombie sieges and pillager patrols are explicitly excluded via a separate biome check, but for example raids can happen even if you enter an artificial village deep inland of a mushroom island.

    Something that deserved a one-line mention about Mycelium...like grass blocks, you need Silk Touch in order to collect them, a otherwise they revert to plain dirt.

  • @another_jt
    @another_jt ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That both mycelium and podzol allow planting and growing of large mushrooms at any light level is handy to know for mushroom farms, though podzol is a bit better suited for farming large mushrooms since it does not convert to dirt when a solid block is placed above it. Mycelium will allow you to grow a large mushroom, but the mycelium under the stem block will eventually convert to dirt while the podzol will not.

    Skeleton horseman can spawn on Mushroom Fields biomes. They are the rainiest biome in the game, so there is an increased chance of lightning strike.
    I love converting mushroom islands into an idyllic safe space. I have found them to be a great place for villager-powered farms. They are a great place for phantom farms due to the lack of hostile mobs at night. They are also great for farms built over ocean.

    A note on passive mob spawning: When you are along in a world, you will typically not see any post-generation passive mob spawns, since your spawn chunks likely already exceed the passive mob cap.
    Packed ice and regular (or even frosted) ice have the identical "slipperiness", only blue ice is different from the other variants.

    • @riuphane
      @riuphane ปีที่แล้ว

      This comment regarding passive mob spawning is unique to Java and not an issue on bedrock edition. I believe that is because bedrock edition doesn't have the active spawn chunk that Java does, but I rarely have an issue getting more passive mobs

I need to carry some of those around. Makes it easy to have water available to make obsidian out of lava on the road. 🙂 Not have to run back and forth to get water. :-) Hey, 4 to make an unending water source still you have to run back and forth 4 times if you have one bucket!!! :-) Having some ice to me is easier. I knew about the no spawning on it. The bad guys! LOL All kinds of new things. I forgot about making ice roads to transport. I had seen that before but just now remembered!!! Thank you Pixl!!! I may have to do a Minecraft dictionary - hey now that's an idea!!! Or do they have one? Hmmmmm???? LOL Hey, no making fun of an old granny!!! :-) Thanks loads though! As far as I know, you'll never have a deep dark biome show up under a mushroom fields biome as the two biomes are exclusive based on their world requirements. Mainly, the requirement of deep dark biomes being under a mountainous biome precludes the areas a mushroom field biome can be at.
    Still doesn't stop me from seed searching for one though. That would be awesome.

  • @Vinok1990
    @Vinok1990 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fun fact: if you build a blue ice path in the nether and go full speed on it you could go roughly 2,073 Kph (~1,288 mph) in the overworld. In the nether it’s less cool while only being about 259 kph (161 mph). This is because one block in the nether is the equivalent to 8 blocks in the overworld.

    Great video and I've learned about a new grass block too. After all these years playing the game, and it shows there's always something new you can learn about it.
    I'm going to farm some of this, as I think it would great with my desert village transformation I'm doing. I'm hoping the biome won't change it when I place it down.
    And something else I've thought of, replacing the floors of my zombie and skeleton farms. See if it alters anything.

    • @Jason-sm4oc
      @Jason-sm4oc ปีที่แล้ว

      The mob spawning and grass colour are very much dependant on the mushroom field biome so desert grass will always be dry looking and mob spawner mechanics are unchanged by mycelium (although some random mobs will not spawn on mycelium because they require grass or dirt and this may help with your farms)

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว

      Foliage color always is either constant (e.g. for spruce/azalea leaves) or biome-dependent. Blocks that change color based on biome will always take on the biome's color, because you don't "move" blocks, you break them to obtain an item (which notably stacks with items from blocks broken in different biomes) and you create new blocks when you use the block items.

      Same.
      Built a house by the ocean and they kept wandering up. I fixed it by putting a line of magma blocks in the water near the shore to suck them down and block they couldn't swim up over because of the bubble column. They either turned around or burned on the magma block.

      If it was made out of stone bricks / other "stone-like" blocks, and had lots of gravel, then it was probably a cold ocean ruin that ended up being placed on the glacier! If it was instead made of wood, then it was probably a shipwreck!

    I found a mushroom island with ice peaks next to it. If that isn't coincidence...

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว

      It is. You could as well have run into pufferfish in a lukewarm ocean next to the island. The ocean just needs to be deep (which is why warm oceans are typically not directly adjacent, as they still don't generate a deep variant).

    I’ve found that mushroom island biomes and iceberg biomes do commonly generate near each other. is this an actual part of the game, or a coincidence?

    • @PromptCriticalJello
      @PromptCriticalJello ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think it's planned.
      I'm a mushroom island baser. (I love being able to build without having to spawn proof every thing.)
      What i've seen seems to indicate that mushroom islands are more likely to generate in deep oceans. Not exclusively, just more likely. Since there is no Deep Warm Ocean biome, it shifts the probabilities a little toward the colder biomes surrounding it.
      No empirical evidence to support the idea, just some observation on my part.

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It just happens. Mushroom islands always generate where there's usually deep oceans, but the ocean temperature isn't really relevant. For example the server I play on has a ginormous horseshoe-shaped mushroom island that is surrounded by deep regular and lukewarm ocean.

    Can you farm the mycelium outside of the biome?

    • @PromptCriticalJello
      @PromptCriticalJello ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Place a mycelium block by dirt blocks and it will spread like grass in any biome. Just like grass it needs a good light level to spread.

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo ปีที่แล้ว

      Notably, same as grass, nominal skylight is enough for it to spread, even during the night.
