Don't move and just count the 6 draw-in effects and during the 6ths draw-in effect warp
Indeed. Running out or warping out after any of the first five waves is pointless and, on the fifth wave, possibly counterproductive. If you get drawn in by #5, warp to the pillar, then get drawn in by #6, there's a high likelihood that the 2.5 second GCD on your Warp Strike won't be ready again by the time the cast bar finishes. And since, in FFXIV, the damage is counted when the cast bar finishes and not when you see the spell effect happen on screen, you could easily escape and then take 100% damage while you're standing at the edge of the room wondering what just happened.
@@DanKojak Huh. This is exactly what happens to me. So, if I'm understanding this correctly, it's NOT a matter of BS game mechanics not working, it's just that you have a micro-second to hit warp strike?
@@Havok91 I actually haven't replayed the event yet since two years ago, but it's all about not putting your Warp Strike on cooldown during the moment when you need it. If you just wait and don't use it too early, then it'll be all ready and prepped for the sixth wave and that instant where you DO need it, and that'll give you more than a microsecond to use it in. Patience patience patience patience patience WARP.
Level 56 White Mage... level 50 Cleric Gear... Level 45 weapon (because everything above that is massively expensive on the MB). Even with my timing being pretty much perfect for escaping the center "draw in" stage... it still instantly kills me. I hit the pillar with warp strike, die RIGHT NEXT TO IT
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I can't even run behind the pillar once I've warp striked like you're showing.
This is a ping related issue.
For pings 50ms, just play it safer and warp strike earlier.
I didn't know you had to warp a the last second to not die to microburst. Forget Noctis dying; I was getting frustrated wiping to that move thinking that you had to warp to the pillar (like Noctis says) and then hide behind it to avoid damage (like you do in the usual fight). I thought I just wasn't doing it fast enough, because each time I was getting pulled back just before I got behind the stupid rock.
Thanks. That microburst mechanic is dumb, but watching her gauge made timing it much easier.

Well now I know what I did wrong (I did complete it yesterday but should have waited for this) I figured out joining noctis in the knock back one but didn’t realise I could get the cone faced away from him and didn’t know what to do with the red markers, thanks for the informative video.

Dice Diablo simple on Friday do the Fashion Report and other wise just camp at the Gold Saucer, do your Agenda there and participate in every GATE u can they pop 3 times an hour on :00,:20 and :40 every Hour. Don’t forget to take your luck to the cactuar lottery in the foyer for the small one which u can do 3 times per day and the big one which u sign up 3 times for and have a chance to get a lot of MGP on Saturdays
Noctus keeps dying
Thank you for this. Noctis kept dying on me around halfway in. I got the warp mechanics but did not fully understand the split damage and red marker mechanics. Thanks to you I got this.
Gonna admit, I didn't dodge ANY of the Mistral Shrieks. The second I got Warp Strike I started thinking along the lines of FFXV's battle system, where Warp Strike makes you invulnerable to damage during its animation. So when Mistral Shriek happened, I just warp strike'd into Garuda. I was Sam at the time and the damage wasn't very severe, so I straight up thought that was what I was supposed to do.
Of course, Microburst happened and then I learned the hard way. But I only "failed" once so I'm happy. Great event!
I didn't go that ham as a SAM as well, but I did die to Microburst twice as I messed up on the timing.
A failed a few times to Microburst because I mimicked Noctis spamming warpstrike on the monolith like the game hinted at, either getting one hit due to that or dying from the unavoidable marker attack that follows up right after.
i literally only spammed warp strike and ignored the aoe. i got hit alot and still couldn't die because the damage you get is so terribly low it would take ages to die
I didn't have any problems with the mechanics but I'm totally failing as a lvl 50 out of the gate with only job quest gear and main quest weapon. I don't do enough damage and the share damage mechanics of the deamon force me to drink as many hi-potions I have available to not die right after, as a bard.
As a BLM or any caster....Surecast DOES NOT work on the split damage straight line marker. It normally negates MOST draw in and push back mechanics for all you new players :) .

My wife has done this fight 3 times now on controller and isnt able to target the monolith to warpstrike to it and keeps getting wiped by the AoE, Any tips? She has Ignore Depth on in the targeting settings.
This one was kicking my ass so hard. Your video is the one that finally actually explained this shit. I didn't realize the special markers were a level 60 thing and had no clue, just knew that second one was killing me on the random times I got past the Microburst. Thank you for posting this; I finally got the Regalia and I'm not angry anymore.
I dunno about anyone else,but it's super hard for me on a controller. Trying to Target to the pillar and then back to Garuda isn't easy at all. Most of the time I target Noctis lol
Might be a bit too late to help, but use the dpad left and right while not holding triggers to select target, and then A/X while selected to confirm it. First time having to use it all of playing 14 with a controller.
When Noct died I knew I had to look it up. Late to the party but thanks for this!
I do wish they let us redo the fight till the end of the event. For fun times.
This instance enrages me way more than anything I've encountered in the game. The first one is the fact that I keep targetting Noct. That one's on me because I didn't quite understand where to edit those until I realized I turned off the wrong one. The second one is simply that microburst *always* hit on full strength. I've got to this point with my latency, and I know when to step away from danger 80-90% of the time, yet despite that, I still got hit. I've never got beyond that point and I only have black mage.
Actually scratch that first one. The targetting still go to Noct even when I turned off the NPC part. I guess I should stop using the A button for targetting.

So one thing i noticed on the active time maneuver, you don’t have to click on the button at all. Any clicking on the screen works, both right and left click. I don’t know if all ATMs are like this, but it took me this far into Stormblood to even notice.
Yep! Nearly any input your control system accommodates, including Left Click, Right Click, and clicking the Mouse Wheel will count for all Active Time Events.
As an AST this fight wasn't any difficult, I just put a regen on myself and kept going.
I started playing few days ago and this was by far the hardest battle i had.Took me like 6tries mostly because noctis dying and me trying to heal with him with my low heal physick spell (i play smn).And sometimes when garuda did his pulling attack and i warp striked to the monolith i would still get pulled/there was no chance running behind the monolith.Idk if it was a bug but it caused me 3deaths
a year later and im still not over how i was having trouble w this battle had to look up guides and found ur vid, only to have my heart wrenched at the part where u said to "stand by him"

Nice Video. I just got to 50 and the MSQ gear (and level 45 weapon :) was enough on my SMN. I realized after seeing your video that I would be tanking this (I'm usually a caster), and have to keep boss positioning and Noctis in mind. I didn't have any trouble with it, but might have done if I hadn't seen this. So thanks!

Hey buddy! Just following up with you. I started playing after your video of "Why you should play FFXIV" convinced me. I did the free trial, completed a ARR, enjoyed the incredible Heavensward and here I am over half a year later! I joined a cool FC. Got the nightmare mount, kirin mount.... all the cool stuff! Thanks for convincing me to join this amazing game! I almost done with SB and will be pre-ordering Shadowbringers. Thanks for this guide as well! That gravitational pull got me hard.
Ate the hit on that pull in on my ilvl 530 main & lived just fine, proceeded to eat the hit & die spectacularly on my alts when I tried the same tactic lmao

I ran away with the marker and it didn't seem to do much of anything. I did get dropped to like 5% from that burst thing even though I got out behind the pillar.
I like the fact that Square Enix literally expects u to be a healer class just to succeed thru this. I usually never have issues with trails like this where no one else can help u on, but this, yea my Noctis is broken & stays in the area while she does her attack that u r supposed to warp away from.

I ended up dying twice due to the proximity attack. I just wasn't getting the timing right, so I ended up switching to tank, and he only did like 50% hp, not even.
I just brought Blue Mage and White Wind healed me and Noctis a stupid amount while we were warp striking back and forth. Stupid easy.
Which class should I play this in? My SCH is 62. I tried it with BLM, but died.
Bruh i want warp strike to be a move for the drg like it does have to have DMG like make it like blm ability to move to allies but this time also enemies and its on global cool down and it cost mana to use so that it isnt spamable lol

Same. I am not, by any means, a hardcore raider. I pretty much play for the story. I even screwed up and did this on RDM, which is actually one of my lesser-geared jobs, thinking, 'Well, at least I can vercure myself... Oh crap, I don't have that at 50... All right, well, hope it doesn't get ugly.'
Still beat it on first try, and was never really in any danger. It was a slow grind, but my HP was never seriously threatened, and Noctis still had about half his HP left. Not sure what I did right that others are doing wrong.
If ANYTHING, it took a few trys getting the link attack to work but other than that....meh. oh well. I got my car mount. I'm happy

Failing to group up for red triangles causes a knock-up as well as damage, similar to Cannonade.

It seems to me that Garuda in ff14 is a she, and in ff15 a he. Seems most likely considering that ff14 garuda has breasts and in 15 he doesn't :)

Regen makes this instance insanely easy, just throw it on Noctis and pay attention when to warp.

Did people really have trouble with this? The only trouble I had was the game breaking after you win and kicking you back to the main menu when you cant log back in
A lot of people have somehow had issues with Noctis dying or them dying to Microburst. The latter I can understand, the former not so much.
@@lxlthecrowlxl aside from getting kicked at the end, this fight was incredibly easy I can't believe people are having trouble with it
I have PC layout (not Game/Joypad) so the swap targets with jp isn't setup as cleanly , i use the jp thumb to move..
also means a target swap between Garuda/Monoliths isn't as clean.. or a mouse over.. and slows warp strike up for Link strikes not as frequent.
anyway noctis kept dying as his HP ran dry and trying to do links... WHM and fuck it.... i hated warp strike..
regen or heal him WS as you can , holly dps regen 2 etc.. as other jobs (tanks/DRG/SUM) were doing the job for damage but noctis dying..
anyway whm regens etc is a cheeze let noctis do a lot of the work...
I shal dub this : WHM Cheese method , its slower but both of you live.

I defiantly enjoyed the event, specially the boss fight, i would love to have that warp strike mechanic return
I had issues as a controller player with the warps.. Targeting noc or rock instead of the boss or at the end the rock just got timed badly the first time, second time I spammed like noc and got it
I did this on my DRG and ate the attack. Took me down to 25% health then I just recovered over time to full health with Bloodbath and Second Wind. Did it on first try.

@Dbshadowfox&Golds Granted, Noctis is used to just phase-shift dodging through everything so makes sense he doesn't know how to actually run away, lol.
A guide? Noctis literally tells you what to do.
Yes, it wasn't too difficult. But not everyone is as elite as you.
Sandra Long There are some things that aren’t made clear by Noctis or the game itself. It’s easy, but I can understand how it might trip someone up once, especially for new players.
Happy didn't want to have to make a guide, but apparently lots of people have been complaining about failing it, so he made one. ^^;
They talk about it in the latest State of the Realm.
I died like 3 times to that burst thing. I got behind the rock the first time and died so didn't know what to do. I tried different stuff the next two times and still died. Then I tried going behind the rock again and lived with like 5% hp lol.
