As a Ferrari fan, I was always confused why Ferrari announced that they would drop Binotto during one of their best seasons since he took over. I genuinely haven't seen much of a change in Ferrari's quality since Vassuer took over--their major weaknesses are still strategy and development, as it was during Binotto's tenure.
I think this is a huge W for Audi, even moreso because Binotto is coming into his area of expertise. I'm now watching Audi a lot more closely than I was.
Mattia and Fred just Uno reversed their roles at the expense of Seidl. Italian Strategy at it again it seems.
And who else thrived on that? Andrea Stella, a former Ferrari guy who's currently doing a stella job in McLaren.
I mean, Mattia is still a viable option as a replacement, especially when we're talking about Andreas and the CTO position, look at McLaren after Andreas left, and look at Ferrari with Vasseur, it's not entirely Mattia's fault for Ferrari's inconsistency at his time as Team Principal.
@@antoniusbaswara8477not just Stella, also James Allison former Ferrari CTO
I read on a big German website that Hoffman was only meant as an overseer of the project, someone Seidl would regularly report to, nothing more. Hoffman quickly realized how much clout F1 brought tho and wanted more say in the team. He started to interfere more and more with Seidls decisions and even blocked certain hires or extensions for infrastructure etc. It basically became a war for power within the team between the two.
Sad to see, I always liked Seidl...
Italian's working with the Germans. I remember that from history class! 😂
Yeah, the HRE sure was something.
And its possible the Japanese driver in the mix for the future
Binotto is actually Swiss 😊
@@wwm9000so much for neutrality…
@@wwm9000 dammit they didn't even race lol
Wasn't Vowels also not impressed with Mick?
Either way, I'm not surprised Binotto is back along with talks of Mick, F1 can never let anyone go, we'd sooner see Nyck de Vries again than someone new. Expect Andreas Seidl to be back sometime too.
What's baffling is that they don't want to let anyone go, but also if you win F2 you can't go back there. So every year there's a new champ that has no seat in F1 and ends up standing on the sideline for a year or going to WEC, Indy, Formula E or even SuperFormula. Meanwhile, guys like KMag, Zhou and Ricciardo get to keep their seats.
My new favourite channel for F1. Your passion and knowledge and impartiality is so good (and makes your cringe parts no problems lol) So joined you on tube. Keep up the good work mate! Oh yeah and as an Aussie I join you in following Oscar he can be "our" boy now!
If Audi can give Hulk a decent car next year and fighting towards the front in 2026, Nico won’t care who the management are.
We see once again why corporates so often fail in the F1 adventures. Instead of hiring competent F1 engineers and letting them do their job they place corporate managers on top of them and try to do things the corporate way. I am sad for Seidl that he apparently had to constantly fight with Hoffmann and now had to go as well. I think Seidl and Binotto could have been a good team. I see a dark future for the Audi team if they keep interfering and I think they will. I wondered why Sainz didnt sign with Audi but maybe he saw this coming
hehehe Pronto... I get it
Would've loved a porsche team...
Meh... Valteri this is James...... Of course he's not on speaking terms with Logan. He's the reason for Logan not feeling like the team working with him. I've said it before and I will say it again. Vowles is not the great team principal that everyone makes him out to be. He lost Logan's respect in Australia.
What's there to work with though? it's clear as day the boy hasn't got what it takes no point wasting time and energy
Audi should hire Guenther Steiner too! 😆
Ladder man's Italian accent is very posh
My favorite F1 yapper has some morning yappings to share, lovely!
Sainz to Audi

Wrong. I have faith and will root for Binotto.
Mick can't outperform the current f1 drivers about his age. He crashed way too many times and cost Haas $millions. With the Schumacher name and to be cut by Haas tells you all about his stats. I do not say that as an insult to Mick the person. He seems a great, well-mannered kid, and for that, he has my respect. My assessment is purely F1 driving.
Without the name would he be as far?
Most people don't know the CTO job, 🅱️inotto have 20 years experience in the front-runner team. 🅱️inotto knows the Ferrari technology how they improve the car, and that's what Audi need: the technology and how to work on car development.
Correct! Audi made a great call and gave Mattia the role he excelled at in Maranello.
YES FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS THAT HIRING BINOTTO IS NOT AWFUL
LawVS, at 7:00 you said exactly was I though, AUDI hire Binotto because his engines expertise. The thing is AUDI have to delegate the strategy department to another engineer. Binotto in charge of engines is not a bad move, knowing the 2026 new rules, involving motor and aerodynamics.
Part of what did Binotto in was his unwillingness to throw his employees under the bus publicly. There were mistakes, yes, but he was charged with changing the culture of fear in the Scuderia. You don't do that by firing people when they take risks and it doesn't work out, or make mistakes. All that would do is make people be conservative and not willing to roll the dice. We don't know that things weren't handled in private. That's what a good manager and leader does. Praise publicly, admonish privately. But when mistakes are made and no blood sacrifice is made in the press, the Tifosi got uneasy and the Ferrari execs got uneasy. They want names. They want action. They want punishment. Binotto is a good manager that did good manager things, but wasn't given time to reap the rewards of the dirty work. Fred is getting the benefits of Binotto's work, IMO.
I think I can delay doing my assignment for another 21:32 minutes (if I fail I blame you Law)

Wtf, Vowles not speaking to his driver? What crap of a team lead is this 😮
Could be Logan not speaking to James and not the other way around. If it's that bad, you just bin him now and put someone, anyone in the car. Put Mick in the car immediately. Somehow, though, I don't think that it's truly like that.
Rumors are not necessarily the truth.
Why would I say anything to my boss if I know he is looking for my replacement? I would give zero F, if the job is profitable, then I would stay as long as I can, if not, then I would just leave immediately, and no words needed...
@staLkerhu in that sense Sainz wouldn't talk to anyone in Ferrari since the start of the season..
@@SuperMarkizas Ferrari and Sainz had been working on contract negotiations all last year. They WANTED to keep Sainz. They couldn't agree on terms/salary. Both sides had a point, but Ferrari didn't 'fire' him so much as they couldn't come to an agreement for him to stay. I think Logan would have stayed and raced for free just to stay in F1. Williams is making no effort to keep him.
First we got last video's mini Alphamaxnova reference and now we get a "Pronto, Ferrari"? Man i love your videos 😂
Law, do you think logan is going to make it to the end of the season, or do you think he will be replaced by summer break? hes been doing quite well the last few races, being closer to albon
Based on the reports that Vowles isn't on speaking terms with him...probably not.
@@LawVS too bad :/ hopefully he will do better at indycar!
Sad to hear that Logan and Vowles aren’t on speaking terms, but given the Australia situation and the Ocon situation, I can’t say I’m surprised.
I just think Logan is in the wrong environment/team, especially given Vowles’ insistence on giving rookies the time needed to develop and then with both incidents this year. I reckon Sargent would be happier in Indycar if I’m honest
Indycar or a new F1 team. I reckon Andretti should give him a shot as their main American driver when they eventually arrive in F1(Which by my calculations will happen by the end of the decade)
@@amanshukla6122 Completely agree, but FOM needs to actually grow a pair and let Andretti into the sport (I’m still mad about that)
I really feel bad for Logan. He's in the unenviable position of getting his big break before he was remotely ready. He seems like a decent enough guy and I've really enjoyed watching his chemistry with Alex on the Williams videos.
@@phonebem And he's improved a bit this year. He still makes the mistakes, but he's 'close' to Albon at this point. The car was garbage at the beginning of the year, too. They finally get the car in a better spot and it's already a foregone conclusion that he's out anyway, so it doesn't matter what he can do at this point.
I feel bad for Logan. He just seems to get the short end of the stick and doesn’t get a proper chance to be successful. Really Albon isn’t doing a lot better but they treat him like a superstar. Ok he has some skills especially at rapidly disassembling cars near the end of the race. I just wish people would make the new guy feel welcome like, like dc making cracks about Logan when it was Albons car.
Nico in 2026 sBinning on the last lap from p3 with a 6 sec advantage
I feel like Audi could be really good, we all just have to remember it may take while to get to that point
They'll almost definitely have some teething issues, but I'd expect Audi to get on top of them as quickly as they're allowed to be dealt with (with respect to budget cap constraints, drivetrain development limitations, etc.). There's a reason they've quickly risen to the top of every racing series they've entered.
But F1 have stated new teams should be competing for victories from season one. The very reason they refused Andretti.
Audi won’t be winning inside 5 years and by then they will pull out of the sport altogether.

@@stevenmoran4060it's tough to tell, but with Mattia on board, they could have a competitive car with him as CTO
@@phonebemAudi definitely has a lot of Motorsport experience and achievements, hiring Mattia as CTO is a good move, he made Ferrari competitive in 2017-2018 (let's not mention his time as Team Principal) but he's definitely an upgrade from Andreas.
Mate, I think Binotto could be your dad!😮😉
I love how many videos you put out, man. This is quickly becoming a new staple of my weekly F1 consumption.
First thought when I read this was WHAT?!?
Second thought was Chief Technical Officer...oh that's actually a pretty good move.
You can say he never got enough time as team principal but he simply did not have the skills to be a principal, however as Chief Technical Officer I think Audi is making a good move.
To be fair I think with the experienced team members that are coming to Audi (Nico Hulkenberg + Binotto), they will be alright
Nico is doing pretty solid in a Haas car. Although Mattia doesn't have that great of a reputation, he has been away from the sport for a minute so I think he'll be more relaxed coming into a new team, the same feeling you get when you leave a toxic work environment, and he has a lot to give when things are going right (consider when he was with Schumacher).
I also hope Carlos can look at this and really consider joining Audi for the next season, were heading into the summer break without knowing where he'll be
I hope he does well for audi. Seems like they are really gunning for sainz now, being that he’s highly rated by binotto.
in the race's opnion....a fresh push to hire sainz is because of binotto when it was him who hired sainz in ferrari and sainz worked with hulkenberg before....
I hope not, no way I can stomach him.
@@LathropLdSTsainz?
I have a sneaky suspicion that a certain American racing outfit is watching this situation quite intently and just waiting for the chance to correlate what is happening at Audi and the reasons they were given for their denial of entry by the commercial arm
Oh, absolutely. I also have a suspicion too that the gears of government are already turning, albeit slowly. Hearings are set to be held on the The Hill between the House, the Senate, and FOM and LM, and I can't imagine that being raked across the coals of Congress will be painless. Then there's the DOJ and FTC, that I suspect are quietly on a fact finding mission to establish probable cause for a grand jury. If the grand jury deems there is probable cause, then expect a more formal lawsuit to be brought forward. And that's when the real fireworks will explode. All-in-all, this whole affair reeks of something more than a simple rejection of an up-and-coming team, or even an anti-trust case. Oh no, I think this could potentially escalate into a corruption and racketeering scandal.
Kubica mentioned u all know what that means. POWROTTTT GIGA KUBICA, also frist time someone didnt butcher his surname xd
If I'm Toto, I put Mick in the 2nd Merc for 2025 and have Kimi stay in F2 another year (assuming he doesn't win the championship this year somehow). What do you really have to lose? If Mick is bad? It's a one year deal and he's out for 2026 with Kimi taking the seat. If he's REALLY good? George's contract is up after next year, so you put Kimi in that seat and roll with Kimi and Mick for 2026. I have a feeling Mick isn't going to hold for for a multi-year commitment and you could even do a 1 + 1 based on performance triggers. The 2nd year becomes guaranteed if you finish in the top 5 in the WDC and Mercedes is in the top 3 in the constructors or something silly like that because, if the team achieves that, why wouldn't you keep him?
Think of the marketing Merc would have. Losing a famous surname but getting one back. The son of the guy who along with Ross Brawn built that team.
El Blan 2.0 part 3, mark I.
It would be interesting to see Binotto's shakeup of the team after Seidl and Hoffman are out after August 1 (in a good way).
If his prior experience leading the engine department at Ferrari can help Audi develop a good engine for 2026, we may see ourselves the epic revival of the Mercedes-Auto Union rivalry of old.
Also, it would be awesome if Schumacher gets a chance on the grid starting in 2025, partnering with Nico.
Hmm, a German works team making their debut in F1 with an all German pairing of a Nico and a Schumacher, that sounds familiar.
Audi have already developed their engine there's loads videos of them testing it on TH-cam
with Théo Pourchaire being on the market I think teams should also consider him as an option even though i would love to see Mick back in f1
Théo Pourchaire should be in F1.
Binotto will whisper soft words to that Audi engine
I’m SO EXCITED for this!!! I thought Binotto got the shaft just as it looked like Ferrari could really real the rewards of their efforts. I wish him and Audi all the success. It would be so entertaining to see him become a force with Audi.

Excellent podcast. I’m glad that you recognize Binotto’s skills. He’s one of the best technical minds in F1, just keep him away from the pitwall.
If I was the td of audi I would chose a younger guy to nurture them for 1 year before they become audi in 2026 someone like pourchaire, mick or lawson all of them are in my eyes big talents that deserve a spot in f1
Mick is the best Choice for 2nd seat at Audi
Well maybe not the BEST option but I hope he gets the seat because Haas did him dirty fr
I think the best choice would be Vettel if he does want to join F1 again
@@Hdawg187-ln4ww thats a BIG if my friend
Its insane that Mike is connected to 3 (4 if you want to add Williams) team.
The last wec race in Brazil. He was by far the fastest guy in the alpine outfit. He got a bad deal at Haas working with the clout chaser Gunther.
Binotto worked at ferrari over decades as software and engine guy, he may have not been best top leader but as a tech leader he did help ferrari reach its most competitive in turbo hybrid era
Why not get Theo? Clear no 1 and 2 drivers at Audi..
He is their jr. Driver and F2 winner.
TBF, Binotto has a long career as an engineer. Being a team principal just wasn't in his skill set.
Maybe Carlos holding out has been a good thing though I'm still hopeful he will sign with them
Audi isn’t even in f1 yet and are already cursed with Ferrari strategy🫡

I really hope Sbinotto can poach David Sanchez from Alpine and replace James Key as technical director.

I mean that's what they have done in any Motorsport they enter. They don't enter to get a participation trophy.
Actually, you make sense in some respects. This video with Binotto & Ferrari is spot on. Even my phleb mind ca understand. I used to be a Ferrari fan, but what they did to Vettel made that ship sink, at least for me.
It is a strange thing the binotto not wanting to be team principal, some Italian articles state exactly the opposite and that he asked multiple times to be promoted to that role saying it was ready for it and he made a lot of pression to get that role
s🅱️inalla part 2 coming up.
They could get a certain japanese driver who is driving his butt off and may be looking to get his chance in another team..
Noise was being made recently that Matteo was talking to Alpine and he was seen visiting Mclaren at a point last year too. Funny how things fly just under the radar. What I am finding curious is the possible appointing of Mike Krack to Team Principal to Audi. I think it will be a good appointment as he is an accomplished engineer. I am ecpecting great things here, Audi entering the grid running and well developped. This could just be another HAAS, but I have greater expectations. Initially tagging Aston and Alpine I think, best of the rest.
Given how Sidel moved from team to team, each of them moved down the pecking order... I feel bad for Daniel Ricciardo.
That image at 08:29 is awesome! I really hope Mattia will COOK at Audi. Specially with how he can attract talents from other teams, like you said. Great video, as always!
Please Mick Schumacher going to Audi partnering with Hulkenberg or a Drugovich - Hulkenberg combination
That is out of the question now, because Binotto hates Mick.

At this rate - 2026 Audi F1 is an absolute stinker, 2027 same and team sold pre 2028. Of course those ne'er do-wells over Andretti are useless and bring nothing to F1. Seems to me F1 is on the precipice of a sh*tstorm. Audi playing hokey pokey leadership and at this rate will build a car that may challenge APX GP 2026, Redbull has developed into F1 Sith Wars with Darth Horner challenging Emperor Marco and Jos the Hut. -Renault- -Alpine Factory- Alpine customer/Marvel F1/ -Team Flavio- /Team Cheatcode does anyone actually think this team will be on the grid in 2026? Then there's Team -Haas- Temu/Wish. all heading to oblivion (though Haas may actually turn into Team Toyota? who knows) though when you think about it maybe Stefano was actually saying to Michael - (in your best Seigfried from Getsmart voice) "Hey mate, sorry, you guys at Andretti with your pedigree, experience, tie up with Cadillac and plans have really got your sh*t together and you know, this is F1 we don't tolerate that here."
Law, do you think if Mile Crack is confirmed to be Sauber's Team Principal, there would be a minimum chance of him bringing Felipe Drugovich from Aston Martin to the Sauber's second seat? He was also mentioned as an option for this seat by Blick before on the same list that they mentioned Tsunoda, Ocon, Sainz... 🙈

A very good German driver left out of Formula 1, who managed to score points driving a Manor/ Murussia and a Sauber with a two year old engine: PASCAL WEHRLEIN, would be perfect for the job. He scored points in back off grid cars. Imagine what he could do in a top line car. Please give him a chance. The fact he is not in F1 is indeed a great tragedy.
Binotto, the "bisounours" of F1 ? His problem is the opposite of Steiner. Steiner has no idea how to work as a team, and Binotto thinks team = democracy and being nice. So for me that seals the deal, with BInotto on board, Audi will not be a successful project and Sainz is right to not go there. Mark my words ! Audi has no chance of competing with Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren. They'll be a team like Alpine, Aston Martin, big corporation doing F1 the way they do mass car production.
🅱️ronto
Hulkenburg + Schumacher...well if they want a full german setup I guess fine, if not I do not think Mick is their best choice.
I don't think his performance in scoring was that bad for a rookie driver, not briliant but not the real problem, 4,2 and 4 million repair bill for a team that doesn't have infinite cash and if they had in the time of a cost cap while not being special is the real problem.
I think that with so many available drivers Mick just isn't the best choice, there are better options losing a seat, on the bench and in F2 as far as I'm concern.
At least he [Mattia] built the most beautiful F1 car of the 2022 - 2026 regs (and if not for the strategy blunders would've challenge RB for the championships).
8:57 Based on Ferrari's performance, I definitely wouldn't want to gut their employees to build a championship winning team. Seems like a way to guarantee failure--how many current Ferrari employees have ever partook in winning a championship?
16:02 I get having two German drivers, but also don't get why you'd want to commit to Hulk as your primary driver at his age while Mick showed at best he'd ever be is a low 2nd driver caliber (he got easily beat by KMag).
As a fan of michael, i hoped his son to be great, not like his dad but good enough to be in f1 for a moment, and like pany french youtubers, i believe he should have been joining Alfa Romeo under Fred Vasseur, he would be still there and have enough credits to be in audi mind.
16:48 -
Just like Mercedes, Schumi and another german driver.
The major problem at Sauber right now, its that no one would give a damn on the progress of the team besides the drivers anymore. Almost everyone in Sauber knows they are close to being sacked when Audi takeover.
What if he's not there to replace Seidl, but in place of Seidl. What if Seidl has been recruited by another team. (Red Bull)
Red Bull need to get rid of their biggest non performer right now.
I reckon sacking Seidl is just a symptom of Audi not being able to secure Sainz and the engine departement needing work. Things aren’t going at the speed they want, so the axe is chopping.
Mick has really impressed in WEC especially the last race in Brazil. He drove the arse off that car. He beat doohan in the alpine test. It was his simulator work that helped merc get back. The kids fast. I saw him at the race of champions and it took a man who beat his father and Sebastian loeb to beat mick. On snow. If he gets the chance he will prove himself. I also hate steiner. He is the empitome of new "fans".
Again, if Marko thinks he got screwed then you know it was bad.

Binotto did not come mainly for the engine side of the project. The engine side in germany looks well but the car side in hinwill switzerland is the problem.
According to some Audi was lacking in specialists so binotto is sourcing them now.
@@LawVS Fair enough. Thats just what I heard and Michael Schmidt from AmuS (who visited the engine factory in germany) said that Audi have practically reached all their development goals so far. But of course, could also just be corporate talk.
Quite frankly, Mr. LawVS, you're sporting some awesome Binotto hair there yourself! 😁
Here's an idea: move Yuki to Perez's seat, bring Mick in for Yuki's seat, and put Liam in Riccardo's seat.
With all these crazy thinks happening this season I wouldn’t be surprised if Audi and binotto get Vettel out of retirement for that second Audi seat.
Ferrari started doing their current lukewarm better the year after binotto got fired? Ie, it was probably his car they're still working with. Binotto brought sanity to ferrari after the arm tatoo guy.
Full German Driver Lineup at Audi would be craaazy.
