It kind of exists in neither/both categories. Wine is made from fermented fruit juice, which this was not. This was a fruit maceration. The creation of the final product is much closer to mead. However, yes, mead is typically made from honey, which this does not have. So not and wine, though it has similarities, and not a mead, though it has similarities.
Definitely try it. Just making the syrup is worth it. I add it to yogurt and marinate with it, very awesome. The mead I'll have to reattempt, but I'd highly recommend giving it a try

just curious is this consider a wine or mead cause it doesnt sound like you used honey and i thought mead had to use honey while wines use fruits?

Yeah, I originally used the red star stuff. The second attempt was Lalvin EC1118, so we'll see!
@@unclescider yeah lavlin should do better. I've had problems with that red paster stuff with finishing
