    I remember a game. From around 1984. It was called Curse of the Mummy or something like that.
    A plastic sarcophagus with about a dozen keys shaped like ankh. You push the keys in these little holes. If you choose the wrong hole (it happens) a pair of snakes wrapped around your wrist and the mummy jumped out.

    My favourite toy back in the 70s,was my Six million dollar man figure,I was mad about the show, and made my Mum bye me a red tracksuit,so I could be like him,running in slow motion,and making the bionic sound, My six million dollar man went every where with me,but I had to leave it behind when I went to school, Then one day when I got back home,l found my figure on the floor,chewed up by the dog,l was devastated,and my Dad saying to me "Sorry Son,we can not rebuild him" (didn't help), Anyway,jump a few decades, and I told my mate the same story, and this year I turned 50,and my mate managed to get me a boxed fully working Six million dollar man,I was that kid again,I was so pleased to have it in my hands again after all those years,he now has a proud places on my shelf.

    I remember playing with the Mouse Trap game so much, but I don’t recall ever actually playing the game. It was the same with Hungry Hungry Hippos. I still having no idea how you were supposed to play those games, but I had hours of fun playing with them as a kid.

    Found the plastic version of the green machine… maybe an 80’s or 90’s version… on the curb during junk day. Went home and made some replacement parts for the wheel hubs out of pvc. My one son rode that thing like crazy.. still hanging in the garage. Had to go buy the larger metal frame version as he outgrew it.

      Loved Stompers!! My friend's dad built a large sandbox and we'd have hands-free races. We'd bank the turns so they'd make the turn automatically. We had bridges and overpasses. The races were highly competitive. Sometimes you'd have to replace the battery during the race when they died. The engines didn't like the sand much so you had to blow out the compartment occasionally. But hours upon hours of thrilling fun!!!

I also had the 12in Lone Ranger and Silver, the 12in Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, plus several 12in Marvel and DC superheroes. I had a Star Trek phaser which made sounds and lit up and a metal Tonka Jeep for 12in figures... There were other toys I had as well.

    My Big B (Big Brother), and I both had Big wheels! It was one of the best Christmas mornings ever in our childhood. My Daddy was so proud to have made his little boy and baby girl so happy. Mom took tons of photos of us that 1 Christmas day peeling out like we were Evel Knievel. We had only 1 Green Machine between the 2 of us that we had to share one birthday, that was also shared 1 year. Lol! It was an awesome childhood. Thanks for the reminder Junkman.

    It was the Big Wheel that had the hand brake, the Green Machine's party trick were the tiller bar steering controls for the rear axle. Those are what made you spin out of control and laugh like a manic psycho. I was the first kid on my street with a Green Machine in the mid-70's, the chicks totally dug it. 😘

      I don't remember the Green Machine, but I remember the Big Wheel with the hand brake. I remember a neighbor kid having one and him letting us ride it. A couple of us had Big Wheels on the street I lived on in Michigan. Apparently I had a habit of driving mine down the driveway out into the street and freaking out the grown ups.

    My older brother had Big Jim along with his mobile command center. It was like a big camper with accessories on it. I remeber Cats Eye and Stay Alive. Never really played those. My brother did have the vibrating football game. It was funny watching the guys dosey do around the field! My cousins had the Green machine. We used to ride it around the block or down to the local drive in(hamburger stand) I had the Dukes of Hazzard wrist racers. I have the cars now but not the launchers. I had laser attack. Later i used it with my Star Wars figures.

    I had the Big Jim karate studio and camper mid 70's. Always wanted the Green machine and no one on my block had it. The Stay Alive game was cool for its time. I remember the ad had some kids on a deserted island playing it on the beach trying to Stay Alive !

    We actually got the vibrating football game second hand when we moved to SF in the early 70s, my brother and I didn't know what was supposed to happen other than seeing the little players move around. I also got a Big Jim Karate chop, it had a little board to break; years later I got the mexican version which had a super punching action.

  • @BarryFrancis
    @BarryFrancis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    We had those Wrist Racers as kids. I also remember having cars called Penny Racers, they were little cars that you pulled back and let go and they would race off, but they had a little holder on the back bumper and if you put a penny in it it would cause the car to do a wheelie.
    Another line of toy cars I remember were called Mini Dah Dah. I think that's what they were called but a quick Google didn't bring up anything. They were small pull back and go type cars but they had different "engines" signified by different colours, some being faster than others, that you could swap out between the different Mini Dah Dah cars you had.

    There were a lot of cool toys that flew under the radar in the 70's, and I had some of them. There was this spaceship toy called the Starbird Avenger, and you could take parts off of it to make a smaller spaceship. When you switched it on, it made this rev-up sound when you pointed the ship upward, and it made a powering-down sound when you pointed it downward. Another cool toy was the Energized Spider Man made by Remco. It came with a rubber spider web, a flashlight that plugged into its side, and you could pull the string out of his hand and hook it on a wall so it looked like Spider Man was climbing the wall. In the 80's, along with the popular toys like Transformers and Coleco tabletop games, I had some rarities like a battery-powered E.T. figure whose finger would light up when you switched it on. I also had board game versions of the arcade games Zaxxon and Donkey Kong -- proof positive that arcade games didn't necessarily translate well into the world of board games, but they still had that cool factor anyway. And I don't know if they were lesser-known, but I had a full set of the mini A-Team action figures. They all came with these way cool weapons. I think Murdoch carried a flamethrower if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure there were other rare gems from those two decades, but I can't remember them all right now.

      I remember Captain Action! You could but extra uniforms to turn him into other figures! I could only get 1 and I choose the Superman outfit because it came with Krypto! So it was 2 heroes for the price of 1. I liked him a lot more than the horrible first G.I. Joe as he could hold his weapons. But, with only one it had limited play appeal! He was a giant so couldn't be used much with your Army Men.

    One generic toy that was popular in the late 70’s were gas engine airplanes made out of plastic with wire hand controllers. You flew the plane by turning in a circle and moving your hand and arm up and down. Engines were real finicky. Never seemed to work well.

    A couple games Rebound, Ganip ganop and not so much a game but parachute army men. Rebound was not getting a new girlfriends but a shuffle board styled game that had a 45 degree rubber band band at one end and you slid a puck that had a ball bearing in it to bounce off the bands and then stop on the target lines but not go off the edge. Ganip ganop was a table top game that had three buttons that would put three balls through holes the first person to get all the balls lost. the army men with parachutes well those were hours of fun tossing them up in the air and watching them land safely or not. they were great until you got them stuck in a tree or the thin plastic tore from the threads.

    Hey Junkman, I could draw that Big Jim tatoo and i print tee shirts. Before Star Wars, my all time favorite toy was the Big Jim Eagle. I was obsessed when my friend let me play with his. My grandfather drove me thirty miles to get this toy. My friend had the bald eagle. I scored the superior golden. Then my baby brother broke it. It has been a very difficult toy to track down and i would give much to rescue another golden along with my childhood. Would you do a video on this elusive toy?

    Hello, maybe you'll know what I'm talking about.
    There was this big monster toy from back then that went with an action figure guy I can't remember. It had a circle on its chest when hit it fell down. I know it existed. Please help me out.

      Not sure on that. Need more info. 70s? 80s?

    • @michellebeckham5310
      @michellebeckham5310 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThatJunkman , it was late 70s early 80s. I thought it went with Pulsar but was wrong. It was a similar action figure guy like that, he shoot something at the monsters circle chest to knock it down.

      @@ThatJunkman , also I think the target on the monster looked like a reflector, so maybe it used light. The monster was bipedal and the guy wore red I think.

      @@ThatJunkman , maybe the reflector was on its head and not the body. I could swear it was colored brown.

    I had the PAC Man watch with joystick. The stems broke off easily and I ended up using the stick port. It worked better.

    TRaSh80...hahaha I had a Commodore 64. Spent hrs playing Zork series. You just walked into a dark room, you may be eaten by a Grue. W,W,E,S,SE, You have come across a troll brandishing a large are, a very sinister looking hooded individual just left the room. Hit troll with sword. You don't have the sword, it appears the Thief stole your belongings.
