  • If I keep increasing the difficulty of these transcriptions at such a fast pace, I don't know much longer I'm gonna be able to keep up 😅 Nevertheless this is a good one! In this video I try to recreate the wonderful cue "Romantic flight" written by the excellent John Powell for the 2010 movie, "How to train your dragon. If you like romantic scores and flying music, buckle up as this is gonna be a fun ride!

Mattia, you are a true artist; this sounds incredible on my system, despite the fact that I don't own Seventh Heaven verb, BCHT, and Ozone. Best!

Absolutely gorgeous Mattia. I will now take your transcription and mock it up in Notion using the Berlin Series to see if I can get it to sound as beautiful as your work. Many thanks for this!

Also, Powell has his logic mock-up of “Flying With Chewie” from Solo: A Star Wars Story. It is one of his best flying themes in my opinion! You should definitely see if you can make a rendition!

Just saw this and site and WOW WE!!! So beautiful and not complicated harmony and do you think just listening out buying studying what composer, like, John Powell are great to listen too. I see you do lessons. You on California out where are you, sir. Love this!!

I, like many others, absolutely adore John Powells score in HTTYD. Some of the best music I've ever heard. Period. I tried my hand at this theme a while ago but after watching this I realize I missed a LOT of the finer details. The way you're able to hear so much of the texture and detail behind the main melody is insane. Your ability to take that and turn it into a faithful mockup is absolutely mind blowing. I definitely enjoy watching and hearing you work.

Thanks! It was quite hard to hear background elements in this one and distinguishing the exact notes I think is near impossible. I think it may be a mix thing

Soooooooo good!!!! I think you gotta do the beginning 20 Secs or so of "Fatherly Dreams" by HGW from Shrek... its a short one but SO well written!! Keep up the amazing work :))

Great video! I learnt alot watching this, I just wish you took a little more time to show each instrument you recorded solo because with all the instruments at the same time it was hard identifying it while you where recording it. Otherwise, it was perfect! You got a new subscriber! 😊

Awesome. Also we appreciate so much you show the piano keys and the instrument name for each part. One question: how does your metronome match the places of the original music as I assume that track accelerates and slows down. Do you let the metronome adapt to the tempo changes and could you explain us that step next time you do one of your amazing beautiful mock ups please? Thank you so much. Your work is so inspiring and a gift to us all !!!

This one doesn’t, it’s just one tempo. I’d normally try to match the tempos by ear

Lovely work as always, Mattia. Fun trivia: the actual mockups from HTTYD are out there (if you know where to look 😏) so it's really interesting to listen to your recreation alongside Powell's own mockups.
