NURSE SALARY: How Much Money I Make as a Registered Nurse | including my actual paycheck

  • Hi guys! I break down how much money I’ve made as a new grad nurse, nicu nurse, nurse case manager, primary care nurse, and PRN med surg nurse! These pay rates are based in Atlanta.
    Disclaimer: the incentives are all hospital based depending on the staffing need. Luckily, my hospital offers great rates to the point where I can make a six-figure income 🤑

    Is cost of living really good in Georgia? Cost of living to me is high in California. A 2 bedroom apartment can be up to $3,500.00 in most places you actually want to live in. Start paying for RN can start as a new grad as low as $50- $77. Im LVN here and make around $43 and it’s no where near being enough to live on my own and have a car payment comfortably.

    Girl, this is GENIUS! I'm about to start nursing school in the fall and I've been so stressed trying to figure out which speciality I will want to be in because they make it seems as if once you pick one, you're stuck in it for life or something! So this was very insightful and helpful. But when you do graduate, can you start as a PRN nurse right away or is it probably better to get some experience first... and then once I do get some experience, how would I become a PRN nurse? Would I have to apply for a different job that says PRN nurse through a different hospital?.... Im sorry for all the questions I have just never heard of a PRN nurse.

    • @safiyamarz
      @safiyamarz  ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you! typically you would have to work full time as a new grad resident nurse, but I have heard of new grads that work part time or PRN. Working PRN is just based on your availability to work as needed vs working a required 36 hours every week as a full time employee

    You said you're working 2 shifts a week @ $45/hr then picking up an extra incentive shift; is that per week? Or per pay period? I guess my question is how many hours per week do you work as a PRN nurse and why wouldn't you ONLY pick up shifts if they're incentivized? Why would you work 2 shifts at $45.00/hr. if you don't have to with PRN?

    Can you do prn as a new grad nurse?

    • @khisaantamenra5147
      @khisaantamenra5147 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but def not recommended. In order to make the most working PRN you should be fluent in more than one dept.

    • @safiyamarz
      @safiyamarz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically you’re in a residency program as a new grad, which would require full time hours but every hospital is different. Inquiry on your interviews but I wouldn’t suggest being PRN as a new nurse
