New grad here. I just accepted a job with a $12,500 sign on bonus for 1 year and a $27,000 sign on bonus for 2 years. I was able to shadow a nurse for 4 hours to make sure I wanted to accept the position, and they are giving me 30 days before I sign anything. During my time there, the nurses were great! Only 3 nurses per unit. 66 patients, long-term care, but everyone is disabled and has a trach, vent, or both. Most are tube fed. It is a demanding job for about 6 to 8 of the 12 hours, but it being night shift, you do have some time to breathe. I believe it's a great learning opportunity, and if I sign a contract, I think I will only do it for 1 year. But I will take my 30 days before I do so.

The only time to take it is if 1) they don’t require you to pay it back 2) you been at that job and only switched roles to working as a nurse so you know what you’re getting into. SIGN ON BONUS IS A LOAN! And equals around $2 extra an hour. LET IT GO work some OT or something

Girl we get it. I love you don’t have that heavy stress anymore. It’s too much with bedside especially med surg . It also looks like you have a nice and supportive company and colleagues. Which is a blessing I am thinking about going back to school I just don’t know for what. I’m not as ambitious as I used to be. Luckily my new job issssssss soooooo low key(state/government) low pt census and I am part of a union so we have max 4-5 patients. It’s buying me time (manageable)for now. So we shall see you soon. Keep up the positive and encouraging we love those vibes 😊

The thing is long term bedside is NOT sustainable. You are destroying your body especially as you get older. I have friends who were body builders, athletes, top shape and they even had to quit bedside because as the years went on their body would be aching and sore to the point they didn’t have the energy to workout anymore.

Your NP journey is so inspiring-it feels like you were just in school yesterday! 🌸💕 Nurses already have a solid foundation from taking orders, and now it’s your turn to lead.

What state do you live in?

When I did my clinicals in nursing school I knew then I did t want to work the floor. Luckily I got a job as a new grad in Pre-op in the hospital. I spent six months there and then got a PACU job at an outpatient surgery center. More money cuz I’m doing PRN and really easy work.

Hi can someone explain to me something. I am going to be a nurse and im planning to be a NP. So first 4 years studying right can i apply NP AFTER 4 years studying nursing? Or do i have to first get the experience of being a nurse in the hospital and THEN i have to apply NP. And how many years studying NP? And is the salary good? And how many working hours do you work?

Thanks for you posts. Im in FNP school online too. Its at one of the most prestigious unis and can you believe that its all online until clinicals and spots may be unavailable! So there are problems in all programs online or face to face! As long as we graduate and take the same boards all are the same stress haha😅😅😅 Also i hate Figs im sorry. They are way too tight. They actually made me feel insecure after my kid was born because i couldnt fit that band on the bottoms. They just run horrible for women with a shape and curves. I buy healing hands now. My ego is on point now hahaa So i have pre night work anxiety too and cant sleep. I have GAD and it makes it worse lol. To remedy that i stopped working 7 am positions. I hate it. I found and er that had a 12 to 12 shift and life is grand. We dont all have to be mornies❤❤❤❤❤

Is cost of living really good in Georgia? Cost of living to me is high in California. A 2 bedroom apartment can be up to $3,500.00 in most places you actually want to live in. Start paying for RN can start as a new grad as low as $50- $77. Im LVN here and make around $43 and it’s no where near being enough to live on my own and have a car payment comfortably.
