  • Yes, the horizontal design somewhat exaggerates its girth, but the 2019 Atlas really is a wide boy! Fortunately, that means plenty of room for passengers and tech inside this family-friendly midsize SUV.

    Sometimes, I wonder if I am voting 👍 for the vehicle or for the host who introduces the vehicle... LOL

      Rick T Well, you’re upvoting a video made by the host, not by the car. I would say who’s making a video is more important than what car is in it.

    How do you find gas usage over time? Nobody seems to talk about it. That is my only reason for waiting for the 2020 Highlander Hybrid. I test drove the Atlas and really like it. For such a big vehicle it felt smooth and didn't "wobble" around on the road like older SUVs that I have driven in the past.

      I have owned the 2019 vr6 atlas 2wd se for 4 months now and have tested the mpg city,high way,drove slow and fast conditions. Best highway at 75 mph was 24 mpg on a 175 mile drive,best city was 18 mpg. Now the worst city under heavy acceleration was 14 mpg. As of right now I only have 4800 miles on my atlas. Over all it's not too bad if you do not drive like a race car driver. Lol. The turbo 4 should be much more fuel efficient.

    • @j_hakann
      @j_hakann 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be a little better for me...but that me and I do 80-90MPH on my highways, and if I’m on a road trip I probably refill a little bit more than I need to.
      And that’s coming from a SEL owner, and it’s always 1 person so that mileage that’s coming from my driving is not with a full car.

    • @MrMartin10884
      @MrMartin10884 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j_hakann oh ok. the sel is nice . My mileage is with six people in the vehicle 4 adults, 2 older children and luggage on the trips. Over all it's nice compared to most of the other 3rd row crossovers.

      I have the 2019 with the 2.0 FWD and I get so far between 25 - 28 mpgs on a regular basis.
      The 2.0 actually is equal to or faster in most scenarios than the V6 AWD. (AWD carries a weight burden)
      IMO AWD is over-hyped and I've been driving in northern Illinois for 48 years.

    I had a white/ white '18 R-Line and was able to fit a queen sized mattress in the back. Throttle was super sensitive! Gas mileage was horrible tho; I think due to the small 18.5 gas tank. Love the burps in sport and full throttle. Just to expensive for me right now so a Denali will have to suffice.

    My lane keep assist keeps it centering. Just a tweak with a special OBD tool. I don’t know why VW just didn’t turn it on. I think legal is doing its magic

    Has this reviewer ever heard of the heard of the Telluride, Palisade and Ascent or driven them? I'm waiting for the new Highlander too, But Toyota wasn't the first in this segment to offer lane-centering tech and the new Highlander still won't have some of the new safety tech that their newest competitors already have. Thanks for the review, but drive these vehicles and find the one that has the ride, space and safety tech that best works for you.
    Sadly, even the newly-refreshed upcoming 2020 flagship Highlander Limited Platinum model won't even offer a full digital dash, something this Atlas and other competitors have been offering for the last couple of years; but at least we finally get Apple Carplay compatibility after 3+ years of waiting.

  • @SSS-mp8th

    Shouldn't you be reviewing the 2020 or does VW not release until next year? Also the power is below a number of competitors, I mean even the Pacifica mini-van has 290hp. No mention of the Telluride and Palisade as competitors?

    • @MrMartin10884
      @MrMartin10884 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree on the hp numbers but the Hyundai and Dodge v6 engine's are not as reliable as the newer vw vr6 engine's.

    I still take Koreans over this VW. That V6 engine needs updating. And the 2.0 slow is just a joke in this class. Pilot and Highlander are still the best.

    • @j_hakann
      @j_hakann 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Paul M pilot & highlander are still smaller...
      The highlander would be a very very small chance for me if I had to go with something other than the Atlas.
      But the pilot is a ugly lifted minivan.

      This shouldn’t be compared to a Cadillac.

    Good-looking car with a lot of room to accommodate but with very poor reliability. Once parts issue occurred, you have to go to service center very often. VW should take seriously to consider why so many owners complain their poor reliability on Tiguan and atlas. Without improvement, they will lose a lot of fans for their car, included me, a previous owner of 2019 atlas premium!
