    Great advice. I'm upgrading from park to street wheels so this will help me adjust the stop.

    Thanks. My skates,arrived,in the box at the 5 finger mark. Would you say this is the general rule whether you’re skating indoors or out?

      Mostly for derby and somewhat for (indoor, rink) artistic skating, really. Any other form of skating, it's really up to you and how comfortable you feel with them at any given height...as long as they don't touch the ground WHILE you skate, of course. Play with them - if you're not in derby - to see where you think they're best.

      Does your skate even HAVE a spot for a toe stop?? Some skates run a NTS (no toe stop) plate. If there is no "hole" for the stop, you've got a NTS plate. There is, sadly, no way to get a toe stop for them. If there is a spot, you'll have to measure it VERY carefully. I'm American, so forgive me here if I don't know the metric standard, but...an adjustable stop measures 5/8" while a fixed toe stop measures 5/16". The gumball stops are great, IF your skate takes an adjustable stop. Also remember, if there isn't anything attached, you'll also need a toe stop nut and washer (adjustable stops) OR a toe stop bolt (for your fixed toe stop). The toe stops are easy to tell apart as an adjustable stop has the "bolt" embedded in the stop while a fixed stop has a hole in the center to allow for the bolt. Hope this helps! Even if it is a little late, at least you'll be prepared when you get your next pair of skates.

    What plate is that?

    What do you do if you have non-adjustable toe stops and they're too high? Add spacers?

    • @Devaskation
      @Devaskation  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ... you could... That's a tough one :/ You'd need to make sure that you have a long enough bolt. You may need to purchase a longer bolt to account for the spacers you're adding ;) Maybe that will help!

      OR drilling and tapping the plate with a 5/8"-18t tap for adjustable type stops? Would that area of the plate have enough metal to support the threads? Has it been done?

    • @Devaskation
      @Devaskation  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a very gutsy move to attempt alterations of a plate... you risk completely altering the structure of the plate itself :/ Honestly, if the bolt won't help, I would suggest looking to some smaller wheels... The height of your wheels may be something that is inhibiting you from using your current stops correctly. The nonadjustable stops should work out alright for standard skating. However, if you are looking to join derby, I hate to say it, but you will most likely need to upgrade your plates. The ability to adjust your stops is huge when it comes to performing in derby. Hope this information has helped!

      Yes, it has. Thank you. I am using Route 70's on my Riedell 111's for outdoor skating. However I may consider other plates, but would like to stay with aluminum.

      Going from an adjustable to a fixed stop it's a $4 piece that can easily convert. There is a kit sold online...but, sadly, it takes some extra/special tools to go from a fixed stop to an adjustable. It would honestly be easier -though maybe a TAD bit more expensive - if you bought a new plate that allows for an adjustable stop.

    My skates (cand girls) use a allen head bolt toe stop. What would be the best ttpe of stops for this? I need new stops, but am afraid to purchase any online because I dont know if it is right or not. Also, I am korea (dont really a choice but to order online).
