One thing that I would like to add is that Large Mouth Bass, Bluegill, and Channel Catfish are not California native species. They were introduced by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife as sport fish during the late 1800s as is the case of the large mouth bass, the rest were introduced at a much more later dates. They do better in warmer waters and displace the native species.

could be how they've been classed in the state? We've got non-native fish here that are "naturalised" and others that have been moved to bodies where they weren't naturally found. I did try to check the Department of Fish & Wildlife but wouldn't load for me.

Im not sure I would count bass, sunfish, or catfish as native in California. They were introduced by fish and game, sure, but they don’t realistically belong there. All come from the east coast.

this is not an asian carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella). this is an european carp(cyprinus carpio). It is very very simple to tell those species apart, the asian carp has a completely different bodyform, the european carp, that you caught has a "hunchback", while the asian carp is formed like a flat torpedo. But they are invasive, that is correct.

Also, the mosquito fish have 2 varieties, the western and eastern. Westerns are native and easterns aren't.
The sunfish have natives in california, but the bluegill is a very aggressive one, and it is bad for the environment to be invasive.
