- Car puncture scam story. How you may be cheated in the name of repairing a car puncture. Save yourself rom this common and increasing puncture repair scam in India. Our friend Tirthesh will tell you an interesting anecdote about a scam. He got trapped into a puncture scam a few years back, and he will tell you all the information about how the scammers trick you into spending your money unnecessarily, damaging the tyres of your cars in the process.

I have been scammed number of times. After spending thousands on puncture scammers , finally i got myself a tyre inflator kit, and puncture kit.
I also faced similar experience in Pune.. especially on the highway. Actually when tell that guy to top up the air...he removes the air without we knowing about it... and deflates the tyre which otherwise was in a perfect condition. Beware of these fraudsters.

this is fraud happening in pune.. happened with me twice. beware just ask them to put spare tyre and remove puncture if any in proper shop.
The same fraud happened to me, finally I replaced 2 tyres with new Bridgestone.

It happened to me once on Nagar Road. He charged me 75 /- per puncture.. 10 punctures. They use eno soda water in a bottle to show you fake bubbles on your tyre. Also on Airport Road there is a tapri shop near the Kalyani Nagar underpass. They tried it on me but I ignored the scooter rider this time.
Recently, I too was scammed at a tyre repair outlet in Panjim, Goa.
The outlet has no lights up front and takes advantage of the public road for servicing and selectively scamming motorists under the dim indirect lighting of other shops nextdoor.
I drove over to this tyre outlet around 7:30pm, for topping recommended air pressure in my 4 car tyres. The tyres, originally held Nitrogen gas with green caps (Rs. 60/- for topping) but I was obliged to switch over to normal compressed air, as Nitrogen is not readily available in the area where I reside. I therefore, asked for normal air and the guy did not look too happy.
A few days later, I topped up fuel and air at a petrol pump in Parra and was told that my tyres were deliberately overfilled to 47 & 43psi instead of 32 & 30psi at front & rear. My passenger side rear tyre also had a steel industrial bolt of 6mm hexhead pierced in between the virtually new tyre treads. This I strongly feel, was deliberately done at the rogue outlet in Panjim. The bolt is simply latched to the tyre in between the tyre tread and the road surface, whilst topping air pressure in the twilight conditions. As I later, drove away, the bolt easily pierced the far-side tyre. I only found out the next morning whilst driving, as the tyre gave a rythmic tap onto the road whilst driving. Being tubeless, the tyre hasn't leaked air. So, guys, please beware!
Local Authorities should raid such outlets for stocking old bolts, tacks and such, that handicap motorists and possibly cause accidents due to tyre blowout . CCTV Systems and an adequate lighting up front, must be made compulsory for such outlets.
Feeling sorry for the incident and thank you so much Lucas for sharing your experience with us. This was the reason for which I've made this video. I hope no one gets trapped in this kind of scam, after watching this video.

Same incident mere sath bhi hua 2 baar pune me , pehle baar pune yerwada road pe 1 schooty wala aata hai aur bolta hai ki hawaa km hai aur waha nearby 1 puncture wala hota hai to mere tyre me 8 puncture nikaal diya , aur dusri baar hadpsar pune oppo magar patta mere aage wale tyre me 11 puncture aur rear tyre me 9 puncture RS 2000 ka chuna lga diya

Europe mein external glue plugs car tyre mein lagana illegal hai. Kyonki highway speed pe heat or expansion ki wajah se aisa plug explosive tarike se chhut sakta hai aur jaan leva saabit ho sakta hai!
एक कटु अनुभव-
दोस्तों मैं मेरठ शहर में कार से अपने दोस्त के साथ काम से जा रहा था, हवा चेक करवाने के लिए रुका लेकिन उसने बताया आपकी कार की नलकी बेकार हो गयी है, इसीलिए हवा टायर में नहीं जा रही। पूरा टायर खोलने के बाद उसने 600 रुपए की एक नलकी बताई जबकि वो 130 रूपए की आती है उस समय मुझे पता नहीं था, रास्ते मे फस चुके थे उसको रुपये दे दिए। बाद में पता चला उसने चूना लगा दिया। यह सब हाइवे पर मेरे साथ हुआ।

My theory for tubeless tyre puncture, keep filling air for 4 5 times, pucture gets Automatically fixed
bhai aisa nahhi hota hai, kuch companies tubeless tyres me liquid dalti hain jo punctured area me fill ho jata hai aur [uncture fix ho jata hai. sabhi me aisa nahi hota

Same happened with me 3 days before in Katraj. But as I saw this video before. I did not stop.
In morning ,I just went to fill air before going for ride in hinjewadi, then puncture guy told me that, I dont have air in one tyre then he fixed 2-3 punctures and again showed 2-3 more punctures and for front tyre also showed me -2-3 punctures and asked me to fill tyre sealent. 2000 ka chuna lag gaya but still tyre ki vaat toh jyada nhi lagayi.

ये स्कॅम मेरे साथ अभी परसो हुवा है... और हमेशा ४-५ लोग वहा होंगे... और वो आपको कन्फ्युज कर देंगे डरायेंगे... और उनके पास कोई तो भी तकनिक हैं..फेक पंक्चर दिखाने की... और एक इसमे कॅच हैं की वो कहेंगे की लिक्वीड डालने के बाद पंक्चर लगाने की जरुरत नहीं...
सही कहा आपने, इसलिए या तो सर्विस सेंटर चले जाइए पहचान की दुकान से ही पंक्चर बनवाइये

Its true that the roadside guys are poor and desperate but it would be wrong to generalize all of them as cheats. They need the support more than the authorised dealers for whom the Rs 200 of puncture repair is insignificant. In the end what matters is how aware you are about your own car and if you can use your common sense in such situations.
I read about a mechanic, saying that you donot own your car unless you know how to repair it. but even if you donot knw to repair it, you should know what a repair is being done.
