Emily Cowie hi gal! We’re going to release a video on some of the nights out/events I’ve gone to for the first half of this semester (not as realistic as we hoped because of coronavirus) and congrats! x kiki
it’s actually funny - I was going to start writing my personal statement and then suddenly the news about Scotland changing the free-studying program for EU students appeared. You can’t even imagine how... pissed off? devastated? I’m now. Knowing how much time I have spent preparing for finals and how it’s not going to help me it’s some how terrifying. I feel so sorry for others with the same issue.
because of the Brexit and COVID, they changed fees for EU students. It used to be the same as for Scots, but from 2021 it’s going to be the same for all of the overseas students. I found it out on Glasgows website cause St Andrews hasn’t attached information about next year yet (it’ll be available in September) :c
Rachel Pascoe Yes, exactly. I think the worst part is that’s not up to us and our work; we didn’t do anything wrong. It just feels so unfair. Our only “fault” is that we were born too late. I hope you’re doing better now and will be happy with your university anyway!
Rachel Pascoe Rachel Pascoe Oh, that‘d be great! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Well, it’s not the worst because in my country (Poland) we don’t pay for our universities and we apply in summer so I have some time to think. I’ll probably stay here at least for undergraduate degree. Then who knows? Maybe something with fees will change.
I studied computer science at St Andrews and in retrospect I did so few extra curricular activites that I'm amazed I got accepted 😅 I think I said that I volunteered teaching younger students computer science at secondary school (technically true, but I probably volunteered for a combined 4 hours or so) and that I'd built a PC in my spare time. I think it helped that I got an award for CS at school as well. I didn't mention that I was a prefect or anything like that because technically everyone in our final year was automatically a prefect and I never volunteered for any duties or anything like that. I guess my personal statement must have been well written? I don't know what the quality of statements are like for STEM students compared to humanities. It all worked out in the end though, I graduated in 2020 and I'm now in a good job 😂
You guys are becoming my go to for all things uni, not just St Andrews! Just subscribed as I kept forgetting to do so😅 Thanks for yet another really helpful and enjoyable video :)
hey i'm in the situation as you were with my grades as i was predicted an A*, A ,A for my offer and given an offer with AAA; however there's a lot of stress and panic around the situation with a levels and exams and at the moment & as an international student i'm not sure i'll be able to make it back into the country for my exams or be able to get those grades if i sit them - do you think St. Andrews are quite lenient/flexible with grades in situations like these as i really want to go there and i'm really stressed about not being able to make the conditions? thank you so much xxx
Aishwarya Arya hi! I honestly wouldn’t worry about it too much, especially given the current world situation, just do your best and what will be will be (I know sometimes it’s hard to hear but trust me just work hard and you’ll end up where you need to go). sending you a lot of love! x kiki
Ahah I have the typical international accent that comes from living in Qatar but going to a British school. It definitely changes as I move to different places tho!
are you asking about the william & mary/st. andrews joint degree? i don't go to st. andrews yet and am only an offer holder, and i obviously have not done the IB program but if you have any questions about william & mary itself, the city, virginia etc. i went to boarding school only about forty minutes away from there for four years, applied to the school, and have multiple close friends who go there so i might be able to answer some things in that respect(:
toni kebab oh no thank you very much toni, I wondered if they did the IB and how they did in it so I can evaluate my chances of making it past admissions, but now I heard back from the university and it’s all good news. Many thanks though!
It pretty much differs depending on your degree but the most important thing is a 80/20 balance between academia/other activities. Make sure you’re focused on what you’ve read/watched/experienced that have inspired you and benefited you x
all your videos are so helpful omg, accepted my St. Andrews offer this morning lol. would looove a video on the nightlife ! x

Great video guys. Thanks!
You mentioned you’re American but have a bit of an accent- did you grow up in the UK or just develop a bit of an accent from being at St Andrews?
Ahah I have the typical international accent that comes from living in Qatar but going to a British school. It definitely changes as I move to different places tho!
Tom is sooo hilarious, does he have his own youtube channel ?
he doesn't! but i'll let him know (although we don't want to boost his ego too much) :))
When do you think I should be expecting to hear back from St.Andrews?
Definitely by the end of March!
Loved it. Thanks 🌷🌷🌷
Can yall show me around if I get in?
If you can find us 👀 although I won’t speak on Tom’s behalf x
100% happy to do that! Tom :)

could do a video to simplify like what is the most important things to put into your statement?
