Whats in your truck...what did we miss, what did you learn? Be sure to check out the other channels when you are through with our video.
👍🇺🇲
Good one.
Thanks...good perspective from different RV'ers. Of course you having a DP would not have the same so Our Everyday Getaway's video is more Germaine perhaps
Such great information! Thanks for sharing guys. 😊
Thanks..lots of good perspective in al the videos.
great info. thanks
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey guys, we have just about all of that and then some! We also keep a gallon sprayer of bifen in the bed of the truck for the bugs around the rig. Behind the toolbox is room for three small bins with miscellaneous parts, electrical stuff and our macerator. We do need to get another fire extinguisher to keep in the truck. Very good idea!
So far we have been fortunate with bugs...we did carry a bit of DE for ants. The only time we had a bug issue was last year where somehow we go several moths inside and they were procreating faster then we could get rid of them. Haha. We finally were rid of them.
Please keep in mind that campers following you in that campsite don’t want to be unknowingly exposed to toxic substances.
@tammyscott9664 I understand your concerns. I've had a pesticide license for over ten years and can tell you that Bifen is a safe insecticide and also used commercially, including restaurants.
Love it! Great video guys!
Thank and thanks for watching and commenting.
Ken - You my fried have to be the most prepared RV I have ever seen. Goodonya brother, you got everything covered!! I'm kinda jealous 😉
Haha...thanks...I am sure we missed some things. BUT this is what these collabs are for...get a broad perspective from several folks. Hope you guys are well.
We wear compression socks every travel day and make sure we are well hydrated. Prevention is key!
For sure.....the reason I had one before was because we drove 5400 miles in 6 weeks...pushing some 13 hour days with few stops. This was pre RV so just a vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice setup!
Thanks guys....just saw your video about Ocala North. Such a great place. We spent March of 2022 and March of 2023 there. A bit bummed that they sold out though. We have heard from friends we made there that its just not the same. We did a review on it as well 2 years ago.th-cam.com/video/72a5TVjxMBc/w-d-xo.html
@@TheRoadSMITHS Yeah, we heard that as well. However, we met alot of great people that we plan on meeting up with next winter. Hope to cross paths with you guys again soon as well.
You have a lot of stuff in your truck. I felt like I was watching a magic show! Lol! Great idea with the reflective vest- I’m adding one to mine. I should probably add the socks too as I have had a PE too. Safe travels! - Mike and Shelley
Oh wow on the PE....we are lucky to still be here to talk about it. Thats funny on the magic show...I was thinking the same...like a clown car for trucks. Thanks to both of you!!
We also use milk crates. They are perfect for carrying around extra 20 lb. tanks of propane. I also use another milk crate to carry my booze in. I definitely don’t want that breaking!
Agreed. We just added a 20lbs spare propane tank and yes they are perfect for that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Ken and Pam - I have the same list PLUS two important items... I keep a pre-lubed bearing and hub assembly (yes the whole assembly for a fast road side swap....and a grease gun.
Losing a bearing on the road with no supplies to repair it can be a really tough, frustrating, long day situation.
Love the channel

2023 Jayco 28.5RSTS
Wow that’s planning ahead. We do keep a grease gun in the RV. Thanks for watching, commenting and the compliment!!
You are definitely prepared and safe!! Yiu gave us a few items we need to check on. Nice video very well done being prepared is best for making any situation go better!! Your videos are very helpful.
Thanks..we appreciate that. Still cant believe the compression socks are called Chin Fun. :-)
Nice video….. We have most of the same stuff, just keep it all on different places.
Good reminders!!
And we actually did not cover everything in order to not make the video an hour long. Haha. Some of the other suggestions from viewers were awesome as well. Hope you guys are well!!
I mount my large extinguisher in the cab. They sell mounting brackets on Amazon.
I will definitely check into that. It does have a mounting bracket but needs to screw into something. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Collaboration 😂
Good job. Like the totes in the bed.
Thanks. Gotta keep organized!
I love milk crates, in the garage, car & Pete.
I'm going to get a fire extinguisher, fabulous idea. For inside the cab and one outside with easy access.
We had this issue with our GPS, So I went old school & bought the laminated truck atlas...Wendy loves it she keeps it handy and follows along as we travel...Great backup......I will carry spare engine fluids, wiper blades and belts & bulbs in the truck...don't want to get stranded somewhere.
Love the super duty Fords....the cabs have become so much more comfortable
Safe travels guys 😊😊
Thank Rob. I definitely need to find a way to mount the FE. Wow on the spare parts...had not thought about those. We do carry some fluids but put those in the front storage of the RV. Love our Super Duty other than the batteries :-)
Good job guys... We mounted our fire extinguisher at the end of the truck bed for easy access... Thankfully we have never had to use it. Safe travels 😊
Thanks. Yeah I need to mount that sucker.
You guys had us at the beginning 😂😂 brilliant. Very thorough walkthrough, we also love the TST and Viair ! Dog hammocks a must 😀
OK...which Natalie is this really. Haha. Thanks . TST and Viair are critical IMO.
We have the viair in our rig. And have you used it multiple times. You really carry a lot of stuff. 😁 Lynn and Danny
Haha.We know some that carry more. Haha. Of course you guys can carry more in your rig then we can. Hope you guys are well.
Very thorough explanation of all the gear in your truck. Totally agree on the 12V compressor/pump and the tire plug kit. I’d recommend adding a windshield repair kit too… ask me how I know! 😂 -Jim
Great idea on the windshield kit. One downside of road travel for sure.
Great stuff in the back of your truck - love the popop-up cones! We don't have a fire extinguisher, but we really should. Nice set up guys!
Thanks...and yes got the holiday wrong on when to wear it. Haha. Someone here mentioned a mount for the FE...so need to look into that. Love your idea on putting the cones out when you back up...half the time I cant see Pam in the mirrors and even get confused on what site I am backing into.
Great idea for a “collab” Don’t know if spelled that right but……. 👍👍
Haha..if you are in the "biz" then you are spot on. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great collab. I love what you in the back of your truck as well as in the cab. These are great ideas to have too! When we traveled by car we always had coolers and first aide kits. And flash lights. The cones are great idea. And the collar and leash in the truck for Meka is great too! And a collapsible bowl for her is great as well. Great video. Glad that my notifications started working again and my subscriptions because I got unsubscribed from you guys but after almost 2 hours it came back. as I was subscribed. It was weird but it’s all good. Just a glitch in TH-cam’s system. Not sure. Have a great week and see you soon! Safe travels.
Thanks Sherri. Thanks for telling us about the subscription. We have heard that has been happening and not sure why. Good idea on the cooler...we do fill our insulated cups with water and carry some light snacks as well.
@@TheRoadSMITHS
That’s a great idea too! It’s good have snacks in case don’t want to stop eat and eat until later. That’s how it worked with us.
Yo got a lot of stuff. Back there, lots of dog dog stuff in our truck. We have a lot of similar stuff , what happened to your audio, went darth Vader for a second. Where’s the Red Bull, haha, Lar
Thanks...haha. I had the wireless mic clipped to the left side of my shirt so when I raised my left arm and looked left it got distorted an muffled. We have tried to clip them to the front of our shirt but they have a habit of tipping over. Just ordered what must be the most expensive per square inch magnets in the world for them ( from Rode) so we can "hide" them a bit more.
I subscribed a few weeks ago. We aren't ready for the road for a couple years, but LOVE to take off for weekends whenever we can. I'd like to see what you use for video equipment......I'm NOT a very outgoing person, but have had thoughts of starting a you tube channel. It would be mainly about our road trips here in Canada. Not sure it will happen...maybe just stay as a thought.
Really like this video, a bit different than the other RVers that I follow. Nice to see that we already have most of the stuff that you have....minus the doggy stuff :) I'll be watching for more.
Thanks for joining, watching an commenting. If you look at our main channel page we list what we use for video/audio and editing. Now dont get alarmed you DONT need all of that. We know people that just use their phones and with todays phones they have great video quality. BUT the key thing is good audio even though I had a glitch in this video due to wireless mic replacement. YT experts will tell you that viewers will tolerate marginal video quality but not bad audio.
Is your truck a short bed ? And if so how much do you like the pull rite hitch, I have the pull rite auto slide, it’s ok but thinking of changing out to a goose neck by Reese thanks for your video you guys gave great tips. My wife and I will be going to the alley rally next month hope to see you two there if you will be attending. Safe travels
Yes..its a standard ( not long) bed. We dod like the Pull Rite Superlite. It allows us choices in set back up to about 7-8 inches...enough to keep the cap clear of the cab. We have pulled our 310RL over 30K miles with it with NP. Just need to get the right lock kit for the Rotoflex hitch. I would double check on the Reese Goosebox, but a while the Alliance frames were not compatible, but that may have changed with later generations of the RGB. We will not be at the rally this year. We went in 2021 and 2023 and had plans for other travel this year that even recently changed. I know 2 Alliance owners that installed the Gen Y Hitch and love it, and one of them will be at the rally. Dustin and Leslie from YT Channel Wayward Waggs. Thanks for watching and commenting!
😢tire gage, light sticks & flashlites, engine code reader, jumper cables, ir gun to watch hub temps, portable cb/weather radio, wiper blades and serpentine belt, deep well socket and pull handle for trailer lugs....
Great adds. We do have a breaker bar with deep socket, a temp gun, jumper cables, tire gauges and a flashlight. We just diid not show these since we try and keep these videos at a moderate time.....but maybe a Part 2.. :-) Could have used the code reader a few months ago. The serpentine belt is a great one as well...just dont know that I am qualified to change it and there is not much room to maneuver in these diesel engine compartments. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Im not sure i could change the belt myself either, but having the part might save you several dsys. We could find someone to do it faster than we could find the part. I carry a set of bearings, races, and seals under that same logic.
Do you have any issues with the fumes from the generator getting into the rv? We do. We have a dryer vent in the front of the rv and fumes manage to get into the rv. I’ve tried to re-Route my exhaust and I find it exhausting. Haven’t found a good solution in 2+ years of rv’ing.
We have not but we have to manage it. I pull the truck away from the rig and position it down wind from the rig. For the times we don’t detach I plug a fan into the generator as well as blow the exhaust fumes away. That is pretty rare though. Hope you and Cory are well!
Tow strap?
Thats a great add and can definitely see the need for that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a question about your bed cover. On our current 3500HD we have the Rolling Cover, but it leaks. Does your bed still get water inside? Looking at ordering a 2025 GMC 3500HD and looking at covers.
We do get a little bit of water in it but all on the rear of it where the tailgate meets the last panel. There is no weather sealing there so a bit of a gap. Wow surprised the rolling cover leaks...I thought that would be more water tight. Good luck in your search. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ours leaks in the same area. We put things in storage bins like you do. Or raised up off the bed.
@jimblair2692 yeah we have to do that.
Love that Viair! Thanks so much for having us this week. We had a blast with this collaboration!
Great job guys....love the perspective you brought with not only a Truck but also a follow vehicle. Thanks for joining us.
We pretty much have the same setup. I have a cone, but I like your pop-ups better. Nicely done. Rock on RoadSmiths!!
The pop-up cones takes up so little space. But here is what funny. The only time we needed them ( Double Truck Troubles Video) I forgot I had them...of course I was really more concerned with getting the Diesel to stop pouring out of the truck. haha.
