I beat it as a young kid as well (played it like a thousand times) was one of the best feelings ever caves of skoops music was calming and memorable near the end.
Timeless 2D platformer classic. The extended victory jingle and all the 2D & 3D animated wipes/transitions upon finishing a segment of every level are what really hooks me up for the Sega Saturn port of the original Rayman.
Damn! I never knew there was Sega Saturn Port. Honestly it looks and sounds better than the PS1 version. I played the PS1 version but never beaten it because it was too hard for me that I rage quit out of anger. A good Rayman game but a freaking hard one at that.
I know it has to do with hardware limitations but the sound design is just a little off compared to the PC version, otherwise it's Rayman and Rayman is awesome!
This video used save states to save time the ps1 video of Rayman 1 (US) used zero save states and I died like a few times in that one its a hard game but fun.
I remember playing this on the psx a couple month back and thought umm i don't remember this game looking and sounding as shit as it did, having owned that saturn version back in the mid 90s i thought my mind was playing tricks so rebought the saturn game and it was just how i remember it, such a great port and the best port out there of the original rayman, the psx port is terrible its missing the intro screen, lots of animation and all the 3d ending fades and wipes.
The PS1 version does have the intro screen and many of the sounds are way too high-pitched in the Saturn version, the sounds in the PS1 version are the default; it was how the game is supposed to sound. The Saturn version is also missing some visual effects that the PS1 version has (like the mist in some of the forest levels) as well as some sound effects and music (like the theme that plays when you beat a boss in the PS1 version, it's completely absent on Saturn) so even that point isn't entirely true, you sound like you're either just nostalgia blinded or a Sega fanboy.
I've never understood why each port of Rayman 1 had sound effects play in a different pitch or speed, i'm pretty sure its not console specific and maybe more engine specific ? Do you know any idea on why honestly ? Just asking lol. (still great video, just finished the game, its awesome)
I can guess that it is because the saturn (and other consoles or PC dos) have a distinct sound chips but that is a guess the details I do not know for sure.
@@SHINRYUXx Yeah, its kinda the same for the DOS ver, howerer some specific sound effects has a lower pitch which isn't very noticeablt, unless your used to the PS1 version. (And to be honest, the Saturn version looks very nice, it has some of those 3D effects, that not even the PS1 version has for some reason.)
One of the best platformers of all time game still looks wonderful today
I agree but its super tough to play despite the friendly looking graphics
One of the best! But your nuts will be in constant pain.
No idea how i cleared this game as a kid. Revisiting now on my Saturn, this game hard af!

The sounds of this game are phenomenal. I miss our Saturn.
PS1 had better sound effects and performance constant 60FPS
The sounds are much higher pitched in this version, PS1 is the only version with normal pitch excluding Atari Jaguar.
@@joenerdiusmamaiv We've only ever had the Saturn. I didn't get a PS1 much later.
I've only ever played this game on the PS1, it's really cool to see all the differences in another version
1:45 what a nice guy, i sure hope he doesn't betray rayman.
What do you mean?

They mean rayman origins

@@DeskoDev ok then
I'm using this playthrough while I play it on my Saturn lol. It's helped me tremendously so far with finding electoons that I've missed
I hope it helped, the electoons were hard to find when I first played too.
This game looked and sounds the best on Sega !
more pixels in the cinematic than in ps1 version
That one photographer be appearing everywhere 💀💀💀
He’s even at the end of the game, why didn’t he just stop Mr Dark himself if he’s already there, lazy fuck
its a checkpoint
@@catpotatoz I know man, but like the checkpoint is a photographer, the photographer be appearin everywhere, even the blue mountains!

Why is it so smooth
I have no idea why
Because its Sega.
Incredible platform which still looks awesome. When I first saw it in mid 90's (a rolling, unplayable demo on a 486DX2) my jaw dropped on the floor

There is an atari jaguar version too I have recorded it but am having trouble forming an avi file with a smooth frame rate.
Absolutely, this game was really hard! I could not do it as a child, my older cousin completed it for me haha.
Nah PS1 looks and sounds better
@@RobertK1993saturn does have cooler effects and level transitions though imo

Man this makes me play the android version pure nostalgia💝
Thanks for vídeo bro!
When people say darksouls the really mean rayman 1.
Agreed

True .. The sound difference is like playing from Playstation 1 Vs. Sony Psp.
PS1 version is the definitive one better than PC Saturn and Atari Jaguar .
Thanks for the longplay!
Your welcome!
I think this is the best version of this game but i dont get why this versions sfx is incorrectly pitched
Probably something to do with saturn sound chip resulting in different sound effects.
@@SHINRYUXxDoes Sega Saturn have better sound then PS1
@@RobertK1993In most cases yes it does
