Wow, my family used to own that truck and I drove it. That was my family's company. It's thrilling to watch you restore it. I can't wait to see it finished. Thank you for saving it
Awesome I don’t know how I missed this comment till now, I would really really appreciate if you could send me any pictures of these trucks when they were still in use! Please email me at fultonwelds@gmail.com.
I’m Pat Cutrone we used to own that truck. Drove it for the company back in the day. Glad to see your keeping the work horse going. We used it to haul blasted rock and boulders.
Awesome, Please get ahold of me on my email, Id love to get any info or pictures on this truck or the other B models I was told you had. fultonwelds@gmail.com Thanks!
I learnt to drive in a B61 Thermodyne Mack in the early 1970's, worm drive and quad box with twin gear sticks, no power steering, I was 11 years old at the time and it was left in our paddock when a new R600 replaced it. Unlike the so called "Mack" of today, the originals were built to run forever! Thanks for the memories!
I really love those old Mack trucks! I can remember seeing those being used for dump trucks when I was growing up! I’ve always been in love with the sound of those old Mack engines. Thanks so very much for sharing that with us!
Patsys died a few years ago, but his son still runs the company I believe. My old Man remembers doing blasting for him. I’m sure if you call them he would give you some info on the truck.
Worked for a small paving company in Ohio-1974 and 1975. We had a very similar truck to haul asphalt.. I drove it on occasion. Our mack had a mack Themodine 711 cubic inch naturally aspired with Mack triplex 5 and 3, one transmission.. It was a converted 5th wheel tractor. It was geared too high for construction but never broke. Manual steering was horrible. These cabs are very tight for anyone over 6 foot tall. Your knuckles come very close to the windshield with the massive steering wheel. But these trucks are so classy and good looking. The engine in this being a turbo charged is very interesting. Drove a 1970 R model Mack tractor for this paving company also. This Mack had a straight 5 speed and a Maxidine turboed Mack. Mack always seemed to have a different way of doing things.. Great truck, Thanks for saving it.
You must be one of them high falutin B model owners with your AIR SEAT!! Haha, just jokin’, that’s really awesome that it’s got an air ride seat. That’s worth fixing up for sure. Good luck with the truck! Looks like you’ve got good bones to work with there.
Cut my teeth on a chain drive Mack B model in a metal scrap yard. Later a B 61 thermodyne with the twin stick. Spent 40 + years driving and owning everything form flatbeds to tankers to coal trucks and it was a fine profession.
I subscribed! Love your Mack, can't wait to see your progress on putting this beauty back on the road, she is definitely worth saving. I would like to see some inside the cab driving videos in the future!
Wow the b 61 mack sounds and runs better then some of the new mack trucks out on the road today mack has come a long ways thanks for saving the old b 61🚛👈👍
I worked for an excavation company in 72-73. They had two Mack dumps. I don’t remember the model but they were really heavy. Industrial looking. Anyhow, we’d completely overfill those trucks. They were slow but had a ton of torque. I don’t remember them ever being out of service and they were old in the 70’s. I drove a ford pinto and one day my boss told me to move the truck. Kinda frightening frankly.
It is a quite a different experience driving a Mack right after driving a Pinto! It seems I hear a lot of stories of these trucks being over loaded, That explains quite a few things about mine!
That gem looks so good, sounds strong too sounds like a deuce and a half when the turbo whistles, I'd keep that truck original looks so good the way it is. Gotta remember they're only original once
Camel back with elephant ears That’s old school it’s turbo charged endt 673 most likely a quad box or maybe a triplex or a duplex very nice use that compound box get used to it split those gears it’s a lot of fun she’s running like a Mack should there ain’t nothing like a Mack please keep us updated good luck
People but that thing looks sharp and it sounds like it's running very good I mean it really looks good I wouldn't mind having something like that but I don't know how to drive a stick when it comes to big giant trucks but that truck is really good looking
Don’t toss those rims and lock rings. People are still looking for stuff like that. I’d post them up for people who want that original style. Those rim you have look like 10.00 or 12.00 x 24 and the rears are at least 58k pounds. Heavy spec trucks you can tell by is the cone shape that the axle sits in. What does it have for a transmission? If you’re looking for stuff for b models. I have a couple at home and have extra stuff kicking around I could possibly sell out here in Massachusetts. Let me know. Sounds amazing.
Got it I won't scrap the wheels for sure, it's a 5x4 twin stick, I definitely want to make it up to Massachusetts soon, seems like a ton of cool old Macks up there. I love looking at your trucks, keep the work up!
Nice find. Still has good bones. I wish my bed was as good as yours. As bad as mine is it still hauls a load. That turbo probably gives you another 35 hp. I’ll have to remember not to run you!!
those old macks can have a multitude of things wrong with them and they will still haul a load all you gotta do is find some state that will let you use it .

we had a tri axle b61 years ago same shit. took two days of sand blast. end of day 2 we metal prept then rust olium primed it. painted her red. with red white cab. pickin sand off me for days. well worth it to us.
Wow, my family used to own that truck and I drove it. That was my family's company. It's thrilling to watch you restore it. I can't wait to see it finished. Thank you for saving it
And to add on to that my mother grew up over your family’s garage what a small world
Is this true?
Awesome I don’t know how I missed this comment till now, I would really really appreciate if you could send me any pictures of these trucks when they were still in use! Please email me at fultonwelds@gmail.com.

I agree they have a ton of style

I watched those trucks go by my steet when I was a kid love seeing them run again
I love those trucks a lot!! They bring me so many great memories when I was a kid.
Same here I've always liked B models and this one is set up just how we wanted.

I would agree about how small the cabs are, as well as the manual steering makes you work.

Meanness of that truck approach is like an incoming roundhouse to the head💪
I can agree with that!
Easy to like that truck. Seems just as strong as the day it was built. Looking forward to more videos when you have a chance!
Its a tough old truck for sure.

Very cool truck. I'm pretty certain I had that truck saved on marketplace before you got it.
Its very possible, it was in Williamsburg PA I think, It was posted for quite a while until I went and looked at it.

The mack b_61 was first introduced in 1953 and built til 1964 in 1965 mack introduced the mack r series which was built until 1985

What a great old truck. They don’t make them like that now.
No sadly they do not.
A b61 with a turbo is actually a b613 check serial numb by rf back spring hanger
I didn't know that, thank you.
Will you fix the engine?
Were going to try our best to get it tuned up right.
whats the difference between a B61 and a B63?
Personally I do not know, I feel like B63s are gas maybe? Hopefully a Mack expert can chime in.
