If I buy an airstream over the next few years, it will be from the dealership that employs/partners with Chris -- even if I have to drive cross-country to pick it up. Chris does an amazing job showcasing the equipment and describing the little details that matter.
Excellent tour. So nice to have a walkthrough by a knowledgeable person who has seen common, preventable, problems and focuses on usability and functionality. Thanks!
Very nice walk through, with one exception - your many referrals to, "...the same as the previous model..." and so on were lost on me. I don't know how the previous model, the 16' model, etc, worked. This is my first Airstream video. Otherwise very informative.
Boy, this guy really knows what he is talking about and you can tell how familiar he is with the actual changes compared to the older model, very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Great Video! Nicely done walk-through! The only thing I see as a bummer is the way the small tables are stored in the bungee cords. If they had drilled a hole into the wood, they could have been stored with the mount not facing out and would have offered a more secure way to hold them in with the addition of the bungee cords, of course.
Just took possession of a 2022 Basecamp 20X. Some good improvements on even the 2021. What I really wish is if there were access to the entry door side storage compartment from the outside. That would make this thing awesome.
This guy is awesome! Thorough, honest without being negative (real life info)! Love the model for sure! Gotta do a little more research on specs. Very nice! 🤙
This is by far the best walkthrough of an RV... He has excellent camera angels... Others have too many closes up and don't really give you good camera angel to provide you with an actual perspective of the unit... Super commentary with simple suggestions and comments on the pros and cons of the manufacturer... And he is just so straight forward and RV nerdy... In a great way... He really knows his stuff... I would buy from him in a second... He comes across as experienced, knowledgeable, and honest... No Bull Shit Man...
Love everything about it except .....those bed cushions. So thin and look so flimsy. Why are they not thicker?? Looks like it's no different than sleeping on an air camping mat. For the price, Airstream should include thicker, better comfort cushions.
AGM batteries? What year is this? RV’s are going lithium. Most RVers are now very aware of the advantages. Yes they are three times the cost but four to six times the life, twice the performance, half the weight and can’t be overly discharged shortening the life. It should be kept within the insulated space because it won’t charge at low temperatures(
Great video! Anyone else take a hard look at the battery cut-off? That thing would catch toes/shoes pretty easily, and potentially switch accidentally.
Serious detail. Practical pointers too. Superb bit of kit. One question. Why does the fridge not run off gas too...? If I wasn’t near shore power the battery would surely run out quickly..? Thanks 😎👌
That was the most concise and efficient informative video, thanks. Would like to see a video on a 2021 Classic 33 with queen bed. If you get a chance. Thanks again from San Antonio!
Thank you! We don't have a full walk through of the 33 Classic yet, but we have a shorter walk around of the 33 Classic with a twin bed. th-cam.com/video/2nHpCdlh3xg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AirstreamofDFW
The biggest problem I see with this unit is the Microwave. We use it a lot, but my wife is only 4' 10" high and she would need a step stool to reach the microwave. Taking hot liquids out of the microwave while on a step stool would not be a safe option. The would need to move the microwave below the refrigerator or move both refrigerator and microwave down so she could access them safely.
I thought one of the most unique design elements of the airstream basecamp was the kitchen set up at the front by that beautiful window. I thought the old design created a ton of usable work space in the kitchen.
Not to be nitpicky, but for the price of these you'd think the ceiling fan would at least have a rain shut setting, if not be a fantastic fan in general.
I hope they fix the bath door my base camp door cracks mid way on the in side of the door taking it back to the dealer for the second time....but still love it....
Nice presentation, but regarding airstream, everything looks fragile and cheap, for the money they charge, that shouldn’t be. Look at some of the quality coming out of Australia...
Could you tell me what kind of campers they can have coming out of Australia are they airstreams and they’re just better made or just different campers I noticed the ones from Asian areas and British ones oh my goodness they’re beautiful and I have seen some Australian ones and they’re definitely more rugged but if you’re looking for something for a permanent home is there anything you would suggest
There is no sink or wash basin in Bathroom. Many people find it inconvenience to wash hands, Wash Mouth in the morning in the Kitchen sink. I suppose a wash basin is essential in the Bathroom.
I love the manual. Tongue weight is low so actual effort required is minimal and one less thing to go wrong. Totally within the design character of the Base Camp. Probably lighter too.
I don't mind the manual jack... But why do they use cheap manual fans without rain sensors on $45k+ trailer? That seams like a major let down... And the outdoor shower... That should've been much better designed. This video convinced me that the 16x is the way to go..
The refrigerator doesn't work on propane any longer? So, I have to use a generator to operate it for multi-day trips? I would guess that solar wouldn't guarantee keeping the battery charged enough for the frig and other things. This is quite limiting for a boondocker; unless I am missing something.
It’s only a 12 volt. So boondocking for more than three or four days is out. Even less if you have to use the heater (12 volt fan). At that point you would have 100% depth of discharged the AGMs and further deteriorated thier life expectancy. I have no idea why they didn’t install a 3 way. To save money, reliability/warranty, liability. But not for the customer. If possible I’d delete the fridge, enlarge next size up for a 3 way. I’d also loose the AGMs and go with 4 lithium’s ending up with the same weight but 4 times the capacity. Yeah, I know $4k +$1200 inverter/charger. But now you’re talking boondocking. Honda runtime only four hours every week. And that’s with coffee and TV!
@Diggy d I use to do ultimate boondocking. I would be on anchor for a week in the middle of nowhere. You better have everything working in harmony or it’s unpleasant Lol!
@Diggy d I build my own energy systems. It’s going to be extremely expensive. I predict that batteries + BMS and solar panels are going to be scarce because of China and anticipated embargo. If it wasn’t made there than the components came from there. So if you’re thinking of boondocking or going off grid and you need these things, (or anything else from China) get them ordered by the first week of January.
I really love the base camp but it’s not much of a base camp if you NEED 110 to operate the fridge and ac. Why not have a small on board generator to run the “essentials”?
Grizz Lady - Not from my experience. - Edit: You made me do homework. 😡 The most, absolutely best, small compressor refrigerators use 100w, much more when the compressor is running. So assuming the actual average power consumption of the fridge is 100W. This is a guess based on assumptions. 50 Ah battery is 600 Wh, but you are draining it faster than C/20, so a rough estimate is approximately 4 hours. To run it a weekend on batteries you would need a pallet full of them. Edit 2, Additionally Airstreams have a 1000w inverter so... so you will never be able to run the microwave without being connected to power.
Here is a bright Idea instead of selling flimsy parts ( outdoor shower head, doors hinges) try upgrading the design and materials so you don't have to say "we have had a bunch of these come back (showerheads) cracked" or" this added hook will help the door hinge from messing up" so " don't forget to put it on) Get a clue people
Yep, no quality control or long term quality now that their wait-list is long. They are squeezing out this RV craze while it lasts. Just when they update floors to composite, everything else has stayed subpar or worse. No wonder people are building out their own vans with good material and a lithium & solar energy system
$54,000 ??? "Tough enough to go anywhere." Flimsy cabinet doors, held by little magnets. Your stuff will be all over the floor, after traveling on any unimproved roads or trails. No automatic fans. No room in the wet bath, and a sorry window curtain. If you're going to spend this much money, go get a Black Series HQ. OR get a Winnebago Hike, and save tens of thousands and still get as comparable if not better trailer.
I’m confused why anyone would want two tables. Seems like they could have got more creative with that area like a higher bed with more storage underneath or an option for bunk beds. Such a wasted opportunity.
Man. This guy knows what he’s talking about. A real life Hank Hill. When I save enough for an airstream , I’m driving to Dallas for this guy to sell me one.
Between him and Patrick they know it all about these wonderful trailers.
That was one of the clearest, most detailed, Basecamp walkthroughs that I’ve seen. Chris clearly knows his stuff!
Love the honesty of this tour. Doesn’t feel like a salesman, just a true tour of the features and things to be aware of. Very refreshing!
Thank you!
Yes but he could..get a larger shirt. Lol
it’s mind over matter

Thanks Richard! We're located in Fort Worth, Texas. Come see us anytime!
Patrick from Colonial Airstream in NJ is a great narrator for their Airstreams and knows them inside and out. Check out Colonial.
Excellent tour. So nice to have a walkthrough by a knowledgeable person who has seen common, preventable, problems and focuses on usability and functionality. Thanks!

Thanks for watching!
I just love the level of detail, brevity & clarity of communication. Just fantastic - please do all the reviews/explanations!
This guy is the Bob Ross of the RV World
Thx for the videos
This guy did a better walk through than Airstream themselves.
I can tell he's a Professional at this and he love his job, it comes easy for him. He answered all my questions, great guy and great video!

This is the guy I want giving me the rundown on my AS. I love his military ,matter of fact approach .
Best Demo I have seen, Kudos to Chris, he is a professional.

Great detail. Battery location, a/c filter clean, black tank clean process, plus basics. Thank you.
You're very welcome.
Good to have those traction tires on it!
Great introduction.He know's his product.
I really dig this guys whole style man. He is most excellent.
This guy knows his stuff! Great tour.
This is the best walkthrough I've seen.
That puppy is tall! Wow and it looks solid
This guy is really good! I hope they are paying him what he deserves. Thanks Chris!
I really enjoyed watching this. Such a cool airstream!! Thanks so much 😊
Great walk through, did a very thorough job! It helped a lot to see the difference between the 16’ & 20’ Basecamp models! Thanks for being very clear!
LOVE IT ! IT SALES IT SELF
Thank you!
Great tour! Detail and all pertinent information. Love the new model Basecamp.👍🏻
You did a good job on the presentation !

Actually they are well made and very comfortable even for my geriatric body!

The vents for the 3-way were leaking water 💧 to the interior, so had to scrap it.
This dude has the personality of a rock!
I'll never buy an RV, but I love to see what is new.

when you open the potable water fill door it blocks the black tank flush connection. Just an observation.
I love the design of this only thing I would make the back into a full bedroom
I like this guy's style. Shows me the rig, gives me some pointers.

Wow this is the trailer I have been looking for. What is the price on this trailer? I like the no hassle points of this trailer.
I think I want one now, thanks Chris!
Any lithium battery and 2000 W inverter options?
Tell airstream to make a Basecamp 20 with a front kitchen option and I'll be one of the first in line.
Have they taken care of the glass in the entry door everyone keeps having fall out on the highway ?
I thought one of the most unique design elements of the airstream basecamp was the kitchen set up at the front by that beautiful window. I thought the old design created a ton of usable work space in the kitchen.
Not to be nitpicky, but for the price of these you'd think the ceiling fan would at least have a rain shut setting, if not be a fantastic fan in general.
It’s very nice but I’ll keep my Oliver.
I hope they fix the bath door my base camp door cracks mid way on the in side of the door taking it back to the dealer for the second time....but still love it....
Wow, great review! Thanks.
wish i had money for a airstream.. love the look of them
Can you get a 20 with the kitchen up front minus the extra bed and dining? Just more room
This guy knows his shit. Good for you bro. Very cool video
Great walk through
How comfortable is the bed on these? Could you sleep for a month at a time?
Would like to have the price on your RVs so that we know what we can compare to.

The 20 doesnt use the Truma system like the 16?
I wish they hadn't moved the location of the kitchen in this model
I've been a fan of the base camp since it was made! I cant afford one, but one day I will have it!
That design change of the 20' Basecamp model is alot better than the old 16' Basecamp. I like it, but as usual the price of an Airstream is too high.😪
good video. i wished there is a way to make the to tonque weight to 500 lbs. change to lithium and move battery compartment
Super informative and helpful, thank you!
You're very welcome!
There is no sink or wash basin in Bathroom. Many people find it inconvenience to wash hands, Wash Mouth in the morning in the Kitchen sink. I suppose a wash basin is essential in the Bathroom.

Good job Sir.
Is there an option for an airstream awning?
This guy is awesome.. thanks man
Rather have a murphy bed than sleeping on those pads.... Murphy bed and a couch there and a jack knife sofa instead of the dinette
Those cushions look cheap, and would ruin your back. Might be fine for some young person only using it for weekends.
For the amount of money you pay for an Airstream I’m still baffled as to why they still have a manual tongue jack and manual stabilizers.

I believe the fridge is 12v and will run off battery/solar. AC is always run off hookups or generators.
What the price?
What is the interior length from the rear door to the front backrest cushion?
Why is Airstream making it so you can’t camp or boondocks without a generator or power? You can’t use the microwave or fridge while camping.
The fridge is a compressor 2 way. It runs off batteries
Grizz Lady - Yes, got that. So you can boondocks for 4 hours. That’s my point.
Those compressor fridges with solar and good AGM Batteries can go for days.. it’s the the same as an absorption fridge..
Grizz Lady - Not from my experience. - Edit: You made me do homework. 😡 The most, absolutely best, small compressor refrigerators use 100w, much more when the compressor is running. The "items" you're putting into the toilet.... lol.
Window added in the bathroom... but why?
The BC16 bathroom sans window can be a little claustrophobic, so I say, why not? :)

Pretty honest. Much appreciated.

I wish car salespeople would give orientations like this after the sale instead of just push you to Finance and disappear.
Most car salesmen don't really know the car. When I bought my Mazda CX7 both the salesman and the GM told me it only had 1 power port, it has 3
