- Ballet of the Taming of the Shrew, as choreographed by John Cranko. This has never been commercially released, so copyright exemption applies for educational purposes. I couldn't find a full version of this ballet available online, so decided to upload it.

Thank you! 1969 seems only yesterday, that John Cranko's Stuttgart was making itself known throughout U.S.A. This is genuine treat for me.
This is a great pleasure.
I saw the Stuttgart Ballet in Taming of the Shrew in the 70s at the Met Opera House. So glad to see it now.
Wow! I can't believe it; I saw Stuttgart also in that time frame..Wasn't Marcia Haydee (sp?) and Cranko dancing the title roles? It was fabulous, and I agree it's nice to see it again.💌🌹
@@CrosbieLane Marcia Haydee and Richard Cragun this time.
@@susannevollmer2347 Thanks so much! Yes, that is who I saw some 50 years ago, and now again. Just amazing...they are all just amazingly beautiful.💌
Thank you so much! It’s wonderful,it’s wonderful!
Happiness, happiness, happiness. Thank you so much for posting this. I adore the Stuttgart, then and now, and have seen them many times (although I live far from Europe now). When new DVDs of the company become commercially available I always buy them and I don't understand why this film has not been made commercially available. Ricky, Marcia, Egon, Birgit and the rest ... bliss. I had the privilege of seeing them in this ballet a number of times and to finally see the film ... well, I shall watch it many many times. THANK YOU.
You’re very welcome! I’m really glad there are people who like this. I’ve had it knocking around on my hard drive for almost a decade now, figured other people should be able to enjoy it too :)
@@countryhousemurder Well, you figured right ... there will be a lot of people who will delight in seeing this film. Gorgeous, beautifully danced, well filmed, all the humour is there ... love Cranko, brilliant choreographer. Happiness, happiness, happiness!! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR POSTING.
Super to see this again. Saw this cast when they performed it at Covent Garden. Do you by any chance also have original cast in Onegin?
@@bkosarska Yes, I too saw this cast in London and would dearly love to see the original cast in Onegin. Bkosarska, did you contribute photos to Nancy Sifton's delightful book "Memories of Rudolf Nureyev"? WELL DONE! The book certainly brings back memories.
Thank you SO much! I never knew this even existed. I had the great joy of seeing this fantastic cast when Stuttgart Ballet first came to NYC. I never dreamed I'd have this opportunity to experience again in this way!
Thank you so very much for the upload! I have only recently discovered Cranko's ballets and Stuttgart Ballet, and I have fallen in love so much, especially this ballet! I also discovered Marcia's ballet versions as choregrapher before I would see her in recordings dancing. It's such a blissful blessing to see that there had been made a movie version. I also purchased the recent stage recording, but it's unfortunately not so easy to fall into the story as much through the scene interruptions--
❤❤❤❤😊
..., delícia de espetáculo. ..., meio século depois e este balé ainda tem o frescor da contemporaneidade, com sua ousada coreografia (com toques cartunescos) e música pra lá de divertida.
Hi Elizabeth, yes there are two of my photos in Nancy Sifton's book. The book is great.
Wonderful ... and, yes, the book is to be highly recommended. Best wishes to you and let's hope some more of the old Stuttgart films can be released commercially or put on youtube.. Very grateful though that at least this film has come to light for all to enjoy.
