    The dash speakers are those Infinity REF-3032cfx? If so, mine came with a capacitor to put in line with the positive plug. I didn't see you install that. Is this needed?

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Mine 100% did not come with capacitors. Definitely install those as those will protect your speakers from low bass frequencies they weren't designed to output. It's a High pass filter. I should probably contact them about that and see if I can get replacements. Thanks for the heads up. You would connect it to the positive terminal side on the dash speakers

    I know this video is old but just got a 2021 Forester due to unforeseen circumstances with my 2016 Forester (some one hit it and parts were on back order until at least next year). I just upgraded the dash, front, and rear stock speakers with JBL club speakers 3.5, 6.5, & 6x9s and it makes a huge difference over stock. Looks like those dash speakers are 3ohm and the front doors are 3+1 Ohms. So if you've replaced stock ones 6Ohm in the dash and 4Ohm front you'll change the impedance to 1.7Ohm instead of factory 2.4Ohm (parallel connection). So I wonder whether this over time have not caused any issues to your HU because of the overdriving?

    Thanks for the video. I Have the 2021 Crosstrek Outdoor Ed. and it has the same set up with the 8" screen and 6x9's up front with the 6.5's in the rear door and tweeters up top. I started the swap of the rear door speakers and got one done and put it all back together and to be totally honest....the factory speakers actually sounded better. I had the proper adapter for the door and also had foam speaker baffles and the new speakers ( 60w RMS MTX coaxial Terminators) sounded tinny and under powered. I was hoping the stock stereo would be putting out more power than it was. I am going to just leave the stock speakers in the car and add a Cerwin Vega Spare Tire sub and see if that is good enough for me. Thing that sucks is that I really cant figure out why the stock speakers sound better than aftermarket ones. Did you notice an actual difference swapping all the speakers out? Its hard for my brain to make sense of swapping speakers and it sounding better when the stereo is the thing that sends the power and if the speaker needs more power than you can send then you will be under powering that new speaker whereas the oem factory one is designed for that specific power output. Sorry for the essay but I guess in short, Im just curious if in the end you are happier with the new speakers or if the OEM set up actually sounded better overall ( at low, mid and high volumes).
    Thanks for your time.

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So two takes on this. The factory cardboard speakers sound great at low volumes, however, once that cardboard gets moisture over time and it stretches, it will not sound good. My stock speakers didn't sound good over 30% volume and audio clipping would occur. I'm not familiar with the terminator speakers, but you can't go wrong with kicker, polk, jbl, or infinity. Mine certainly sounded better, but I also put some dynamat behind the speakers on the door panel to prevent vibrations, which is what you might hear. I also could not tell a difference until I hit above 30% volume. Also, the full sound of the car really did not improve until I added an underseat kicker subwoofer. I was very underwhelmed until I added that.

    • @readyreadyroling

      The rear door speakers are considered 2 way speakers. They have a tweeter and a midrange speaker in them. You just need and 6.5 or 6.75 inch speaker that will fit in that whole. FOCAL also make some for the rear doors FOCAL ISTOY 165 or just a FOCAL coaxial. There is also a better sound deadening material form NOICO that is heavier weight than Dynamat. It worked great on my WRX when I did it. I tried it with my factory speakers and upgraded speakers and it helped the factory setup as well, better bass less road noise. Sorry. Just now seeing this. TH-cam doesn't alert me all the time. Were you able to figure it out? The attached wiring diagram I put in the comments should have helped a little

    Does this void the warranty since we're working with "electrical"?

      And one more question, did you end up using the adapters for the speakers which were sent by Crutchfield? Im thinking about doing the same on my car but not sure whether I need the adapters(for both front and back doors).

      I did not purchase an extended warranty on my car, and my original warranty only covers the power train and engine. The extended warranty would cover it. I do not imagine changing out the speakers would void any warranty. Especially since it's so plug and play. But I would give a call to your dealer first before doing anything. ..second answer. The front and back door speakers use the wire harnesses provided by crutchfield. The front dash speakers only require two pieces of wire since the original dash speakers are soldered directly into the speaker. My video shows how I made this.

    Thank you for this video! I also contacted Crutchfield and was recommended the same front and rear door speakers. I was curious if you needed to install/replace the stock amp? I have the 2019 Forester without HK (8" screen) and they still had me buy the Kenwood KAC-M1814 amp. Any thoughts on if this is necessary or would make a difference?

    • @readyreadyroling

      An amp will always make a difference, it's just whether or not you want to install it. I personally did not install an amp and just did a self-powered subwoofer and used the new speakers.

    I just replaced my HK speakers in my 2019 Forester with the same set you used. The front door speaks sound like they are bass only. Like there is a crossover or something. Is this normal?

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine definitely are more bass heavy, but maybe see that the tweeter 3db switch is pushed in? Also make sure the tweeters are angled towards you. If there is nothing but bass, then you might be in treble (trouble pun)

      @@readyreadyroling I didn't know there was a 3db switch. I'll give it a shot.

      You can’t just run aftermarket speakers on the hk amp and system🤦🏼🤦🏼
      People do the dumbest things

    • @HyperBRZ
      @HyperBRZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ekimandersom4478 You know that's not very nice and completely unnecessary. Yes, you can run aftermarket speakers on the HK amp as I am doing so right now. The drawback is the crossover built into the amp makes the front door speakers more like a sub than a full range speaker. So, I guess you are right. People really do the dumbest things. This time it was a TH-cam comment.

      @@HyperBRZ Yeah sure it will make sound, but it won't be an improvement.
      Did you even check if the impedance is the same as the HK speakers?
      Probably not, so pure luck you didn't blow the amp already.

    So you now have a total of 6 tweeters ?
    You must like highs 😂
    Also installing a speaker with only 3 screws is an absolute no go.
    The most important is the install, rather buy cheaper speakers installed well, it will sound better.
    And 2 tweeters are more then enough in any system.

      Feel free to buy any speakers you like. I bought the recommended speakers from Crutchfield. I'll be honest though. Once I installed that subwoofer under the passenger seat, I was happy I had all those tweeters. And three screws is plenty. Lol. Give it the ole shake test
