26 years of Lifeboats
Just a short video of this occassion. The Oban Lifeboat was established in May 1972. There have been 4 births on board during transfers of pregnant women between Isle of Mull and Oban!
Got a wee bit of footage of the arrival of Oban's new Shannon Class, Campbell Watson, arriving in the bay today.
She was escorted by Mora Edith MacDonald, the Oban 1997 Trent Class, and Elizabeth Fairley Ramsey, the Tobermory 2003 Severn Class. The vessel on the mooring is Eric's Legend, the 2021 Shannon Class which provides training and relief to all Lifeboat Stations. 26 years of Lifeboats!
The Campbell Watson demonstrated her agility, turning nearly a full circle 'on a sixpence'. Impressive indeed!

1972 - 2023 is not 26 years, and 26 years ago is hardly history. But all the best to the RNLI, so many depend on yous. Truly appreciated 🍾
26 years is the age of the eldest vessel if you count that up 😉. 26 years is 'history in the making' as it says on the thumbnail.
Anything from the past is history.
