You may have already gotten here (I'm catching up on Mermay), but I throw "deserve" out the window. It gets too close to the idea of entitlement for me and confuses the issue when I have feelings like the ones you're describing. But "worthy" helps me untangle stuff. You are worthy of being treated with kindness and acceptance and you are worthy of big dreams. Starting a sentence with "I am worthy" helps me navigate all kinds of big feelings!

As a single person and later even as a single parent, I have had problems with churches accepting me. They seem to promote families but people who are single past their teenage years they don’t seem to be accepting of.
