Even after beating the entire game, chugga hasn't figure out that the reason he keeps failing his hammer parry is because there is a limit of how long you can hold out the hammer.
He actually brings it up pretty early on, but then midway through the game he started playing Brothership and Paper Jam where you can hold it indefinitely and I guess forgot after that.
@@miguel7888i legit don’t know how people can’t figure that out or remember since Mario n Luigi visually struggle to keep the hammer up after a little bit.
He was playing the remake at the same time to show the Dark Star and Dark Fawful fights and that seems to have influenced him somewhat (see also the fact that he frequently calls Bowser’s special attacks Brawl Attacks)
I know Mario freaking died there but Bowser’s fake-out punch at 32:12 was the funniest bit I’ve ever seen and not sure if I agree with Bowser being the loser, I think that reward goes to the daredevil boots honestly. But yeah, 32:12 is my number one favorite moment and the real mvp in my heart!!! 🤦♀️🙈😂
If I am genuinely honest here, I actually hate the fact that this specific let’s play is just about wrapped up and I am very excited about the next one, don’t get me wrong but I personally won’t mind seeing more content from either this or Bowser in general because I really appreciate all of the dedication and hard work Emile has put into. And even then, I would love to see more Mario and Luigi content from Emile because this has been a blast and will always be my favorite let’s play that he’s done and won’t be remotely close. I would have a hard time pronouncing his game but whoever created Bowser is a genius because while Mario and Luigi are more popular, I can tell they put a lot of love and passion into his character design and I also would love to see Bowser have his own game because he’s the most interesting character outside the Mario brothers and I wouldn’t mind seeing Bowser being the protagonist more often because sure, he has been in multiple entries but never had an actual solo game and it is weird how Antasma kept his theme in his X version than the Dark Star, I think I understand why they did it but even then, its perplexing yet some still criticize Bowser and Antasma‘s roles towards the end of the story in Dream Team and sure that game has its problems such as the tutorials and gyro controls but at least its interesting enough and kinda wished Paper Jam had a different plot instead of recycling the same story of kidnapping Peach. But I definitely would love to see more Bowser content for sure!!!! #chuggaaconroy
Alright since you admitted it is your first time fighting Bowser X - 43:20 for those who might ask - Emile, fun fact, Bowser X is IMMUNE to status effects. Meaning you wouldn't have been able to inflict Defense Down no matter how perfect you were with Falling Star and if Bowser didn't vacuum up Bros Attacks.
@@TempestasLeo It doesn't help that the tells for some of Bowser X's attacks are kind of hard to read at times *(I.E.:* the Goomba Storm attack, and flaming spike ball attack).
Emile at the beginning of the LP: "Don't worry too much about buffing speed or defense." Emile at the end of the LP: *_Constantly losing the bros to attacks he can't dodge, and complaining he doesn't get to attack much during boss fights._* Surely these statements aren't connected... Probably.
To be fair, one of those bosses he fought in the remake only gave him trouble because he was severely underlevelled and underpowered due to the save file being a speedrun save. I’m pretty sure he even ended up one-cycling the same boss in the original.
@@ShockInazuma yes, you are broken and the game auto defeats itself against the normal bosses, but if you then try to go for the harder bosses and you have no idea how to dodge their attacks since you never got to see them regularly AND you have nothing besides "i deal a ton of damage" you are not going to be having a good time.
Chugga going insane. Honestly, he keeps making several notable mistakes. 1. Forgetting hammer cooldown. 2. Having both bros jump at the same time. 3. Not use Mighty Meteor. 4. Normalizing all these aforementioned mistakes.
It really got to me how much he continues to press both bro's buttons when dodging/parrying enemy attacks in this game. Like it's not that big of a deal but ughhhh
Seriously, I know Emile isn't a Pro Gamer™ and is more so the chill, funny guy, but it's become *painful* seeing him flub easy dodges by either mistiming the jumps (especially when he does it for BOTH bros???), or erroneously holding the hammer buttons down due to muscle memory from the later titles.
@@blazingwaters7469 I will say that I do tend to hold or press both buttons - even in the newest game, Brothership - when in fights, but yeah sometimes he really needed to not hold the hammers so soon and individually use the bros' counters
bro I legit got angry wwhen I saw he wasn't using Mighty meteor to give himself the edge. Like, he knew some pretty great combos, yet he didn't think to use Mighty Meteor in the boss rush? Huh????
This is the reason why we always put a little bit of defense in rpgs, kids :^] Jokes aside loved this playthrough this is one of my favorite games of all time and im really happy to see you play it
Darn right, I checked my original save file for the game and my Bowser’s defense was well above 500. Chugga- “defense doesn’t matter if you don’t get hit” ok man, but it kinda does if you do, like in this video.
@@ashelygordon669 Well, evasive action is also defense. It just so happens that, if you are good at the game your numerical value for defense does not matter, as all damage received will be zero. Chugga is not that good at the game (Sorry, Chugga). A player who does not have the task of commentating a playthrough will probably perform much better and get hit much less.
35:21 You know it's an ultra difficulty spike when everything else in a superboss rush is being destroyed with barely any effort, yet this boss is giving massive trouble
I understand that's the point of a superboss, but cranking the difficulty up to 19 just isn't fun. A strict turn limit, being directly punished for not knowing the attack patterns ahead of time, losing access to your Special Attacks after just ONE USE and having almost zero items... This is honestly way more frustrating than it is fun. And when all you get are useless Coins because you already beat the game, it's just not worth it. Hence why I'm glad there's no boss gauntlet in Brothership, it's just a waste of resources.
i mean... the X bosses i meant for people who want a final challenge in their M&L games, it's a true test of their skills, and i had such a hard time fighting bowser X for the first time but it felt SO DAMN! GOOD! when i finally beat bowser X, learning the attack patterns is the challenge of M&L, and actually using other bros attacks other than falling star and magic window and mighty meteor. if it's to hard... just don't do it
@ethnictendo yeah, i was mostly joking. I do think it's kinda strange that he didn't do research prior, because Bowser X on the Super Mario Wiki states that Bowser does have new moves compared to the original Bowser fight.
The game 100% intends for you to beat the end game by about the end of shine rank, achieving star a little bit before the final battle at most, that's about the level where Dark Bowser's fight still has the amount of challenge you'd expect from the usual Mario and Luigi final boss. The extra content expects quite a bit of grinding as a post game.
Am I the only one who thinks its odd how in order to justify the Bros having screentime in this game they create a super boss arena exclusive only to them but they couldnt think of anything for Bowser to do in the post game? You'd think they'd at least give him his own version of what the Bros are doing inside him since why else give him an ultimate equipment piece when its essentially worthless for him to have on him. Its like they made the bowser sections "too good" so you barely need to prepare him for any real danger It reminds me in Earthbound how when you fix the Broken Bazooka you dont need the Gaia Beam. If anything, the Gaia Beam is so not worth the trouble that by the time you get to Giygas you wonder why you even grinding the IQ needed to equip it come the end of the game.
@@luciuseclipsenot including giant battles and including fights where Mario and Luigi do help, bowser only has like 5 bosses, those being the blooper statue, wiggler, midbus, blizzard midbus, and dark fawful, what would a super boss for bowser be? Dark bower dx?
@@korhol2065 Realistically, Bowser's super boss would probably just be Dark Bowser X, but ideally it would be a unique exclusive boss where Bowser fights Mario and Luigi themselves.
Watching his constantly jump or hammer with both bros drove me insane. The jumps and hammers are timed for you to only use the necessary brother, by doing both you cut down your window to use thw other one effectively when defending.
I even reset on some of the bosses in my recent playthroughs to get better stat bonuses for the stats the bros. need the most. Chugga should also remember that too.
4:38 I actually like the yellow version because it makes it closer to normal star sprites like Starlow given the lore that it's kind of a corrupted one
3:09 im fairly certain they intend for you to beat the game around the end of Shine/Start of Star rank and then go back and grind in the airway for Rainbow and for the extra content after Chakron tells you to. Dark Bowser is much more satisfying of a fight when its multiple cycles and thats definitely always been how ive played.
It's been wild to me seeing Emile and others talk about the final boss in terms of "first phase, second phase" like it's intended to be one-cycled, when it very clearly isn't or it wouldn't have been designed to keep popping back out.
@@TheBeserkerLord That’s a very strange take to me cuz personally me playing through it as a child if I really was taking so long that it would repeat I felt like the game was punishing me for taking so long like oh you missed your window now do it again
@@TheBeserkerLordyeah i always saw the floating out thing as less of an intention and more of a punishment for taking too long especially even as a kid.
@@ryansanagustin6553 That isn't strange. That's just a typical 'shielded core' boss fight, like Cackletta's Soul or Elder Princess Shroob. (And for that matter, the next two final bosses in this series.) With an emphasis on switching back and forth between the bros. and Bowser because that's how the entire rest of the game has been played, including most of Bowser's other fights.
Hell yeah we’re back. Now that the story is finished, we get to watch Chugga get folded like a lawn chair against all the super hard bosses. Though with how overpowered he’s become he might fold them instead
it is impressive to me that chugga instead of just stopping the danger mario attempts just grinds to level 50 instead, ignoring a safer albeit slower setup. I remember taking 2 tries at the gauntlet myself at level 40 first one going to the turn limit and second one winning. the Turn limit itself isnt your actual enemy since you will run out of items and BP probably before that hits so its safer to rely on a setup that prioritizes survival instead of raw damage like chugga over here did. also the excellent !! is amazing and chugga is doing it somewhat a disservice since it only empties luigis side of the badge meter if it isnt full. you only need a tiny sliver from luigis side too since marios side can just fill all the way and the bonus being basically double the effect of the excellent badge makes it worth the risk especially since you can use luigis turn using either easier bros moves (or just be a god) or doing a basic jump or hammer. That and once the badge meter is full I believe it cant empty or if it does I never noticed because full badge meter use it. other notes of course being chugga talking about the tank luigi setup yet never using it despite this being the best way to actually show off the tank luigi setup. Last note being that it is interesting to me how many people just get wrecked by the defensive hammer commands both because it cannot be held eternally and because the later hammer counters often try to punish spamming hammer swings with both bros by adding slight delays to follow ups or straight up having alternating patterns that will hit the second bro if you time it for the first hit. the shyguy squad is being probably the final boss of hammer counter timing. anyway great video and my condolences for grinding to level 50 that is a truly brutal grind. Also personally my strat for bowser X was using the lower BP bros attacks to fill the badge meter and then use the triple damage you get from it on the high cost ones.
The Dark Star actually does that attack against Starlow in the vanilla version as well! I remember well as a child when I was close to beating him and got punished for staying in the air.
Personally, I always let go as soon as the "blip-blip-blip" sound plays, so as a kid when I saw that attack for the first time, I was like "Whew, good thing I didn't stay there!". That said, I understand the mindset, I would've freaked out too in your place.
@@ethnictendo If I remember the Dark Star X fight correctly, I think that the speed of that attack varies sometimes, so I think it can range from between 2.5 "blips" to 3 "blips", but otherwise, yes, I learned to heavily rely that strategy a lot on my playthroughs too while challenging myself to beat Dark Star X at level 35. Of course, it always becomes awkward when fighting vanilla Dark Star on repeat playthroughs, due to the different timing of the attacks.
As for the final fight, the gimmick of it is losing every special attack you use as a counterattack. And to clarify, every fifth turn, the boss returns the latest special attack lost. So, try to be conservative with your higher damage output special attacks. Super Strike badge is your friend both on the sixth and the final badge.
And from what I heard, Bowser has roughly over 10k in HP with the challenge medal equipped which I am honestly relieved that Emile didn’t do it if he was going to struggle this much. While I wholeheartedly agree that Dark Star X fight went atrociously wrong for him, the fight against Bowser X is the real challenge and honestly fine with leaving Bowser at level 31 and he may short end of the stick in terms of superbosses but he’s definitely the real superstar of this entire let’s play!!! 💛🤡😂
@@silverstar6589bros badge & tight belts is the best strategy A ok wear on both because you do not want to get a status ailment on bowser X it’s essentially game over if you’re struggling with counterattacks DX pow boots or Tip top boots if you’re capable of keeping your health 100% any damage negates the effect but it’s a nice 30% pow boost in return this build is beatable at level 44 that’s how confident I was it took me 1 attempt but i was struggling a bit at Bowser X his ultimate attack is devastating ☠️😣
@ you can purchase the tight belts in the star rank shop for 10,000 coins it’s pretty pricey but considering how useless coins are until you buy the best equipment there’s no reason not to buy them ❤️👍
4:46 ...no, that does not imply that. Making a different song play is highly trivial, if they wanted the new music here they had nothing stopping them. More likely is that they didn't think it suited an optional side-thing to have that bombastic music made for the climax of the story
@@Shantae1188 Dream Team's X fights take place in their usual locations whereas Inside Story places them in the battle ring. The music choice makes perfect sense contextually in both games.
@@Shetheystyarbitrary Just let us hear dark star’s theme again As I kid, I thought it was so cool my friend had a flip note we recorded the audio over with the boss for this game I thought it was cool cause that was one of my favorites songs in the game and I couldn’t listen to it again unless I was fighting a boss (until gauntlet later) So it’s lame you don’t get d star’s theme it’s just there once and if you missed it, just hear it in the sounds menu you never get to fight d star x with his own theme :,(
@@samyb4566my strategy for this is not just mighty meteor but equipped both tight belts on the bros all bros attacks decrease by half its a god send with bros badge on ❤😊
Congratulations on your amazing comeback Chugga! It's been a blast eating breakfast and watching you stomp through this game! I hope you keep chugging for many years to come! ^^
I think one of the main reasons that Bowser X really ends a lot of people's Class 7 runs is because of just how much health he has. Not counting Chakron or the food items in Midbus 1's fight (or Brothership, since I don’t know things stat-wise there), Bowser X is the single strongest enemy in the entire sub-series, sitting at 7,155 HP (or if you're really crazy, 10,732 HP if you have the Challenge Medal equipped) along with no exploitable weaknesses aside from stat drops. It really is the end-all be-all challenge of the series, and there's nothing that I can advise on that isn't simply just 'get good'. Frankly, that's all you can do.
While brothership has enemies with higher HP, none of them are as damaging nor as tanky as Bowser X. (Brothership difficulty is comparable to superstar saga's aka baby mode). Bowser X is still the strongest boss in the series and I'm mad that brothership didn't follow suit of what BiS, DT or even PJ did with the boss rushes...
Oh boy. Im excited to see what Chugga is gonna show cause I know little of postgame content of the original game. Also rewatching his old M&L series made me revisit each entry I own.
I was following along this playthrough, picking more or less the same stat bonuses he was picking but fell pretty behind at some point. Maybe it’s a blessing that I did since I might be able to build up my defense a little more before the end.
It's actually the opposite, the problem is that he is not using daredevil boots. If Mario is already getting one shot by every attack bowser throws, the daredevil boots might as well have no penalty. Specially on challenge medal runs, mario has to solely focus on pow, otherwise you won't do enough damage (without being overleveled) to win. Mario is not the bro that should have the defense route.
Boss Gauntlets are always a rough experience, even if you have no trouble with any one given fight, each one serves to wear you down bit by bit before you reach the finale. Especially the pressure of knowing that if you fail, you have to run the whole gauntlet over again. Had a similar experience with the True Arena in Kirby Super Star Ultra.
At least with Kirby games, there is an incentive to keep trying and get better at it by improving your best time. But RPGs have a huge problem with this type of stuff since it's just pain and the reward is so useless that it's just not worth it.
6:30 Snrk. That's why I've never used the Last-Ditch Gloves so far in my playthrough of Brothership. Speaking of Brothership, I got my first Game Over in that last night. It only took a boss rematch I was 8 levels under for, and I still got him down to 1/3. 32:09 Oh my. Also, Bowser could always do that, even during the Clinic fight. The cue he's going to fly over you is that he snorts before charging the punch.
Fun Fact:You can beat Bowser X without dodging! Shyguymask found a strategy to beat him even though it was thought impossible, even at level 99. (In case anyone wants to know, it’s in his “can you beat challenges that don’t deserve their own videos” video)
The way to dodge the first half of Bowser X's attack where he turns giant is to look at his hand. When he clenches his fist that means the fireball he's shooting is aimed at either Mario or Luigi, if his hand is open that fireball will miss. Since there's enough time between attacks to land after a jump you can safely jump with both bros whenever you see a clenched fist and you'll be fine.
How to clear the final class of the gauntlet. 1. Make sure to aquire the tiger belt from the star rank item shop. It'll make the sp cost drop to half and makes spamming them have no consequences. 2. Have A-OK wear and the power boots/gloves on. This should give you the most power you can get without gimmicks. 3.Spam mighty meteor. The gauntlet didn't acount for it dropping items, so use it defeat the weaker bosses and hoard all the items you get. And don't mess up ONCE! Get as many items as possible. 4. When fighting the final battle in the seventh class, start with your weakest bros attacks. It'll start taking your atracks one at a time, so keep your strongest attacks in hand for as long as possible. Your special attacks will eventually come back, so once they do, basically rinse and repeat. 5. You'll likely won't beat it the first try, so study as much of the last boss as you can. Take notes, on its attacks, study it's new ones, and adapt to the fight. 6. Once you've got a handle on the attacks, you'll need a God level of patience to win. Similar to Elder shrooms boss fight in p.i.t, the last boss here will test your endurance and will power. Steel your will, and you'll eventually be able to defeat the true super boss of Bowser's inside story.
Kinda funny fact, you end up fighting Bowser X again in this games sequel, Dream Team, but he is significantly weaker since he's only the 2nd boss in the gauntlet
What I like about that fight is that it remembers this game’s version of Bowser. In his Dream World fight, he uses his typical flames, but he also uses the sliding punch and the spike ball, things he picked up from this journey!
6:25 Starlow casually going back into Mario's pocket after he fainted made me snort. Surprised Chugga didn't laugh at that as well, but he seemed too surprised by the Dark Star X attacking again.
I guess this s our first bonus episode. This LP really came and went in the blink of an eye, didn't it. And considering I can't imagine this game really having much of a postgame past these super bosses, it seems very likely that LP 50 is going to end with 50 episodes. That is a fortuitous coincidence. It's been a fun ride, and a wild one at times, but all good things must come to an end. May the new year bring even greater adventures. And hopefully start better than the last one did.
This is definitely the fight that tests "are you familiar with the limitations of your dodging skills?" The hammers only being able to be held out for a little bit, plus the fact that the attacks come hard and fast enough that you can't possibly dodge them all if you press both buttons at the same time. Definitely a bit frustrating to watch someone clearly capable of doing it at his current level, then lose due to not learning the fight, then deciding "levels will fix this"
I’m sorry but he has a knack for just spamming buttons on counter attacks. Could have work on his timing better but it makes me laugh and confused on his timing. Still my favorite TH-camr. Glad you did this LP ❤
Some helpful tips for Bowser X: 1. While he didn't do it, he mentions this in video and it's echoed in the comments a lot. Use the Mighty Meteor in the earlier fights- it does great damage, doesn't cost much SP, and can get you valuable items for the harder, later fights. Try to get as many items and finish the fights before Bowser as soon as possible to maximize the amount of turns you get. 2. If you have trouble dodging Bowser X's attacks- a viable strategy could be to equip Luigi with the Bro Socks (2x Defense while holding a KO'd bro) and the Giant Shell (negates all damage that does
The remake adjusted Bowser's ranks, giving an additional rank between final boss and gold boss called master boss. Further, final boss rank is actually achieved at level 32 in the remake
I doubt the "if Mario reaches it too" text is that remote. You were consistently getting levels on Luigi before Mario earlier in the game because of the Daredevil Boots, so if someone is using it and consistently finishing fights with Mario dead Luigi will have enough extra exp to get the level first.
Geez, I’ve never seen the boss gauntlet actually completed before. As a kid I never bothered to try. That was one of the most stressful boss rushes I’ve ever seen! Congrats!
Couple notes on the Excellent!! badge (or as I call it, the Super Excellent badge) - If an attack doesn't get Excellent because it was cut off from the target(s) dying, you don't lose any badge energy (though you don't gain any either). Also, if you do flub an attack, only the bro whose turn it was loses badge energy.
I think the reason why Dark Star X uses the regular boss theme in the remake is because its new theme wouldn’t sound fitting in a battle arena type of background as opposed to the ominous shadowy background in its original fight. The reason why it made sense for Antasma X in Dream Team to still use his own boss music is because that fight still took place in the same area/background as his original fight. And as for why they changed the color of Dark Star X to yellow in the remake, my guess is that they probably thought yellow would be a more fitting color for it since it kind of resembles how a Star Sprite looks, and maybe they thought the red color blended into the background a bit.
that celebration sounded like what i imagine Al would be like when he gets to a Magical Far away place where the sun is always shining and the air smells like warm root beer and the towels are oh so fluffy, where the Shriners and the lepers play their ukuleles all day long and anyone on the street will gladly shave your back for a nickel
Okay, so! Chuggaaconroy has gotten hit at total of 502 times throughout this entire playthrough! He got hit 392 times on-screen in battles, at least 61 times in off-screen battles, and 49 times in minigames! I can finally rest... I no longer need to count these things anymore, my job is finished... phew... I hope those of you reading this find it uh... entertaining >w< ...I guess I could also share my thoughts on the superbosses. None of the X bosses have any new attacks compared to their original counterparts except for Bowser X as far as I'm aware... which is why I like the Bowser X fight a lot more. With the other X bosses, I think the more rare attacks are just made to occur more frequently and attacks that would normally only be used when the boss is at low health are now instead able to be used always, also some attacks have been adjusted to be more difficult than they are in the original. For example, the Dark Star will always try to hit you after the laser attack. In the original, it waits for about a second before looking at starlow and only then it launches itself. Dark Star X doesn't wait and instead looks up and then immediately launches itself at starlow after the laser ends, practically forcing you to let go right before the laser ends to avoid either bro getting hit. Another example is that Bowser's Shy Guy attack in the original fight doesn't require you to hit bowser as many times as it does in the Bowser X fight. Also that Shy Guy attack only exists in both fights if you rescue the Shy Guys, which is a fun little detail. Also I think the original boss theme works really well for the Dark Star X honestly. Maybe I just love the original boss theme. Also these super bosses are pretty fun but are WAY overleveled compared to anything else you see in the game which is really unfortunate. Bowser X is a really good superboss too. He can be pretty difficult even at level 50, and beating him with the challenge medal is one of the hardest things you could ever do (basically requiring you to play near perfect). 25:45 "When did goombas get so tough?" It's not tough, you just keep jumping with both bros instead of only jumping with the one that needs to jump, so you don't have enough time to actually dodge all the goombas. 34:55 I don't know the frame data on this move, but I think you could be right. I'm not sure if that move is possible to do with only one bro either. I should take this time to mention... in the Bowser X fight, you can get your special attacks back by waiting 5 turns. It's not gone forever. 41:45 Yeah, idk why Chugga thought it was a good idea to hammer with both bros when he mentioned earlier that he wasn't sure if this attack was possible with only one bro. 42:37 like I said earlier after 5 turns you get your special attacks back. This fight is meant to force you to be good at getting excellents on all of your special attacks, not just one attack you practiced or are naturally good at over others. GG!! Not many people have the patience to 100% complete this game, Bowser X is sooooooo beyond overleveled that it's ridiculous.
Indeed. Not everyone has the luxury of patience to do 100% completion and wouldn’t be a bad idea to invest some defense or reflect of what Emile could’ve done better because sure Mario is more offensive and offensive builds can work, they do have their consequences. No offense to those who love offense but it felt painful to see Mario being KO’d via Daredevil boots and I honestly don’t like equipment that involves high risk strategies!!! And entries like Paper Jam and Dream Team get too much hate!!! 🤪🥲
Thanks to you, I have all of the Bros and Bowser SP attacks!!! You have given me the confidence I needed to get them Chugga, and I couldn’t thank you enough!!!!
I remember fighting Bowser X for the first time. The Shy Guy Squad attack was the bane of my existence and I ran out of 1-Ups during the fight. I was sure he was almost out of HP, but then Mario got ko'd and Luigi had no health left. I decided to risk it all and try hammering with Luigi...and I failed the move, only doing 33 damage. And then he was defeated. An unbelievably lucky win. I don't think I've ever had a Mario and Luigi boss fight that close since.
Once upon a time, Emile had a significant advantage in Mario Party mini games over his fellow Runaway Guys because he developed a button mashing technique known only to himself. It was so good, that Jon even joked that every button mashing challenge was basically a guaranteed win for Emile. Fast forward to now, and Emile's itchy trigger finger repeatedly gets him in trouble on timing challenges. This is his gift. This is his curse.
Ironically enough, class 7 of the gauntlet is where I went with the daredevil boots, alongside the master wear for Mario. The extra boost to special attacks WITHOUT the increase in SP cost is a lifesaver.
In defense of Dark Star X's recolor in the remake the golden yellow color scheme makes it look similar to a Super Star! Not as cool as the blood red color the OG game had but it's a cool choice despite all that!
Already commented, but extra note: IN DA REMAKE, beating the Boss Rush nets the Golden Shell for Bowser. It does absolutely nothing but give 8 DEF and sell for a decent amount of useless gold. Pretty much just a second trophy.

As a lover and deliberate overthinker of lore, I am obliged to appreciate the fact Bowser's body can produce a replica of itself inside of itself, not to mention recreating a number of foreign invaders, all of which are boosted compared to the originals. It will take me and my brain time to let that sink in and extrapolate the possibilities and consequences, but for now, very good on you for not only defeating this super boss gauntlet, but also for grinding through all the other challenges. You and Tim have a far greater constitution than I. I look forward to the bonus video to see even more of this game......even after all this, the tower in the middle of the lake was never elaborated on.
let's play 50 being 50 episodes long sounds like the perfect finale. a GRAND finale you could say! also chakron at the end has different text for if u win fighting as little enemies as possible- fighting some and not hit rainbow and hitting rainbow rank effectively 3 endings for the game
and yet bowser will STILL be hard if you didn't get amazing bonuses on all your level ups. He's tough. You can't just rush in with max defense and no power, you'll run out of turns.

I’ve been watching this channel since the days of super Luigi Galaxy back when I was in elementary school, and I remember when I got my hands on this game when it came out for the ds I practically PRAYED (not religious) that you’d showcase this game on your channel. It’s been some time since I last played bowser’s inside story but when I looked up your channel again this afternoon and saw this playthrough? Already completely finished on its last parts for me to binge? You nearly made my 23 y/o self shed a tear. Keep up the good work! And yes, people STILL watch let’s plays!
16:05 In one case that the meter will not break, getting Good! by jumping on an enemy, but then defeating it. Overall, you get a rating of Great! or less from defeating an enemy, but you are perfectly doing the action commands, the meter will not break. I personally like the risk-reward that the Excellent!! Badge has, but you are better off being safe with the Excellent Badge. I feel like Mighty Meteor could have been used more for the high-tier items specifically. I like how in the final and winning attempt, when Bowser X fires the simplest attack to counter at Luigi and damages him, Chugga's response back was "Screw you, man." I cannot wait for the bonus video!

16:00 Slight correction, getting anything other than an Excellent with the Excellent!! Badge equipped only resets the badge meter for the bro. that initiated the attack. He actually brings it up pretty early on, but then midway through the game he started playing Brothership and Paper Jam where you can hold it indefinitely and I guess forgot after that.

I think it's supposed to be him being too eager to punch Mario/Luigi, and he ends up overshooting the punch and flies right over them.
Bowser can actually do the fake-out punch in Toadley Clinic, but I believe the timing is much stricter here.

IN DA REMAKE: When Bowser X gets low on health and goes into Fury mode, he eats a drumstick and fully heals.
This also activates fury, so Bowser becomes twice as dangerous, but he takes twice the damage as well.

... WAIT DOES HE ACTUALLY DO THAT! holy FUCK! that's insane, that means you have to deal with over 14000 HP!
@WooperK actually no. In the remake, Bowser X has 5800 hp, which is way less than in the original, but the heal he has makes it about the same.
That's SMT boss design, wow.

6:20 I just imagine the Dark Star looking up and being like 'oh you thought you were safe up there? Time to prove you wrong sir!'
Same as the “she’ll never find me up here OH NO SHE DI-“
Man I wish Dark Star Core did something like that too. It adds so much to typical "jump onto Starlow to easily avoid a huge blast" attack format
"Defense isn't important if you just dodge"
Emile during this entire video: Death because of non existence defense.
Another one for the Worst Mario And Luigi Player
Said by the same person who isn't even that good at dodging.
This video? Try the whole damn playthrough rofl
I mean I would more blame it on spamming the dodge button and not reading enemy tells, but yeah the lack of defense is not helping
@@TempestasLeo It doesn't help that the tells for some of Bowser X's attacks are kind of hard to read at times *(I.E.:* the Goomba Storm attack, and flaming spike ball attack).
Emile at the beginning of the LP: "Don't worry too much about buffing speed or defense."
Emile at the end of the LP: *_Constantly losing the bros to attacks he can't dodge, and complaining he doesn't get to attack much during boss fights._*
Surely these statements aren't connected... Probably.
This whole video is just comeuppance for his poor stat distribution.
Not really due to poor defense as much as he just isn’t that great at dodging boss attacks, but he is low on SP regardless
@@LeMuDXwell that and Mario was wearing the dark star wear which gave zero defense
The Dark Star was always able to do the cheapo ping-pong attack after the big laser. You simply killed it fast enough to never have to deal with it.
If you use the Mighty Meteor in the earlier fights in the boss rush, you can get yourself some more items for later
This is the number one tip I found that got me able to do it (still needed to grind to Level 55 tho cuz I sucked at dodging).
I bet that’s why I beat it at 47. Still took 9 years but hey
the same strategy i used to get up to 6 1up mushrooms
that's a good tip, but you know chugga, he's gotta do the hard mode cause he loves torturing himself (or can't remember what some bros attacks do) lol
Smart.

Jokes aside loved this playthrough this is one of my favorite games of all time and im really happy to see you play it
Darn right, I checked my original save file for the game and my Bowser’s defense was well above 500.
Chugga- “defense doesn’t matter if you don’t get hit” ok man, but it kinda does if you do, like in this video.
Defense is just as important as offense and saying it doesn’t matter is coming back to haunt him because the latter of boss fights are no joke!!! 😮🤡
Props to Luigi for being able to stand against a lot of Bowser’s attacks and carrying his brother, literally
@ethnictendo yeah, i was mostly joking. I do think it's kinda strange that he didn't do research prior, because Bowser X on the Super Mario Wiki states that Bowser does have new moves compared to the original Bowser fight.
I will say, maybe he did that to troll himself, as he has stated he does, but either way it was at least funny.
Its like they made the bowser sections "too good" so you barely need to prepare him for any real danger
It reminds me in Earthbound how when you fix the Broken Bazooka you dont need the Gaia Beam. If anything, the Gaia Beam is so not worth the trouble that by the time you get to Giygas you wonder why you even grinding the IQ needed to equip it come the end of the game.

I've asked him what bonuses he got on BlueSky, so here's hoping!
I knew the phrase "No point upping Mario's defense while having the Daredevil boots on" was going to come back and haunt Emilie at some point.

Advice for the boss gauntlet, Mighty Meteor allows you to farm items in the middle of the fights and you even keep the items between fights.
This is the first thing I did too, since the number of healing items is very limited. Just need to equip a gear that reduce BP cost.
yes! you can grind 1-up supers and star candys, i was screaming at chugga to use mighty meteor the whole time
Sometimes it’s pretty painful watching you fight the bosses lol
If he played Hi-Fi Rush, I feel he would struggle quite a lot on parrying alone, lol.
Hell yeah we’re back. Now that the story is finished, we get to watch Chugga get folded like a lawn chair against all the super hard bosses. Though with how overpowered he’s become he might fold them instead
the winning strat was not using daredevil boots lol
He was actually at the recommended level for Dark Bowser X. So not overpowered.
it is impressive to me that chugga instead of just stopping the danger mario attempts just grinds to level 50 instead, ignoring a safer albeit slower setup.
13:39 ...or, you know, spam Mighty Meteor until Rank 5 to get items.

Brothership does have an Enemie with 10,000 HP (there may be a boss that actually has more idk)
I thought Bowser X was immune to stat drops.
@@yaboipktendo many bosses in brothership have more hp than bowser x, but only bc the bros attacks in brothership are nuclear

@@gilgameshtheexcalipooruser177 that’s a good point, if Mario is dying that much why not just wear the DD boots
Chuggaconroy making the let’s play exactly 50 eps, I see you
Man, I wish the bowser boss fight scaled with bowsers stats. imagine you making your own superboss (or otherwise)
I also wished Bowser X used the rest of his special attacks beyond the Goombas and Shy Guys, especially him using Broggy against the bros lmao
Pro tip for anyone planning to attempt this challenge: you should jump and hammer right before the attack is going to hit you instead of at random.
That does tend to help, yeah
Fun Fact:You can beat Bowser X without dodging! Shyguymask found a strategy to beat him even though it was thought impossible, even at level 99. (In case anyone wants to know, it’s in his “can you beat challenges that don’t deserve their own videos” video)
“I DIDNT EVEN DO 1 DAMAGE” Yes THE LUIGIS MANSION LETS PLAY REFERENCE!
Let's Play #50, Ending with Mario and Luigi each on Level 50, and it is going to end on episode 50. You cooked emile, you cooked.
Oh my God I wasn't even looking at his hands ever. I always was just looking for the shadows
4:47 I always assumed the Dark Star X being yellow was because the art style no longer has outlines on its sprites and the background is already red.
Just give it an aura.
The fact that Bowser doesn't have any cool high level challenges feels like a crime against our king.
I'm saving my final thanks for the bonus video, so I'll just say kudos to you on that final gauntlet!
This is definitely the fight that tests "are you familiar with the limitations of your dodging skills?"
The hammers only being able to be held out for a little bit, plus the fact that the attacks come hard and fast enough that you can't possibly dodge them all if you press both buttons at the same time.
A lot of them are definitely mistimed and kept jumping way too early, lol!!! 😂
Hey Chugga glad to see you’re back. Very much love today’s star studded cast, Bowser really made you a star.
I beat Brothership a few days back, so it's a treat to see this video uploaded where Chugga tackles the remaining BIS Superbosses
Some helpful tips for Bowser X:
There are also gear that give bonus exp to one bro at a time, so if you gave it to Luigi, you'd probably see the mario text too.
Geez, I’ve never seen the boss gauntlet actually completed before. As a kid I never bothered to try. That was one of the most stressful boss rushes I’ve ever seen! Congrats!
"It's the same fight as back in Toadley Clinic"
Sure buddy
If that isn't proof that this was his first time fighting Bowser X, then I don't know what is.
@NerdyChocolateLabradoodle Well he was suprised seeing both Bowser X's unique gimmick and attacks
25:19 🎵…D’ahhh big bowl o’ sauerkraut! Every single morning! It was drivin’ me crazy…🎵

Fun tip for falling star bros attack: place your reticle at the top of the screen and just follow the star from side to side while spamming throw.
that celebration sounded like what i imagine Al would be like when he gets to a Magical Far away place where the sun is always shining and the air smells like warm root beer and the towels are oh so fluffy, where the Shriners and the lepers play their ukuleles all day long and anyone on the street will gladly shave your back for a nickel
I love this. The struggle made the win even more satisfying!
Okay, so! Chuggaaconroy has gotten hit at total of 502 times throughout this entire playthrough! He got hit 392 times on-screen in battles, at least 61 times in off-screen battles, and 49 times in minigames!
I can finally rest... I no longer need to count these things anymore, my job is finished... phew... I hope those of you reading this find it uh... entertaining >w<
...I guess I could also share my thoughts on the superbosses.
Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing!
It’s a shame Bowser’s bosses all require the bros. in some way. Really robbed him of potential superbosses.
The first Midbus doesn't. But yeah, poor Bowser gets shafted in this game.
Dear god I feel bad for emile, that Dark Star X fight went atrociously
And class 7 is why we stan the hell out of Mighty Meteor in this house. Those bonus items can be a lifesaver
Same
Ironically enough, class 7 of the gauntlet is where I went with the daredevil boots, alongside the master wear for Mario. The extra boost to special attacks WITHOUT the increase in SP cost is a lifesaver.
Hey Chugga this is my fourth let’s play I’ve seen from you. And got to experience it live! Thanks for an awesome time, great community.
“I can’t react to the fire balls in time” on the contrary, you’re jumping way too early
literally this video shows how bad chuggaa is at dodging. its honestly impressive to watch
*Bowser's Castle after beating the game*
Bowser: *eating cake* Mmm, so good.
Goomther: Um, Lord Bowser?
Bowser: WHAT!? *hides the cake* What is it!?
Goomther: Just wanted to inform you renovations are going smoothly. Should have this place up and running again in a week.
Bowser: Good, that's what I like to hear. Now get back to work!
Goomther: Yes sir. *turns around*
Bowser: W-Wait. One more thing.
Goomther: Huh?
Bowser: Thanks for all your help back there. You and the others pulled your weight when I needed it.
Goomther: Anytime, Lord Bowser. Though, maybe you can say that to all of us. *welcomes the others inside*
Shawn: Shy Guy Squad leader, Shawn, ready to serve, SHOO-RAH!
Kathie: Koopa Corp leader, Kathie, is crashing in, KOO-RAH!
Bonnie: Bob-omb Blitz leader, Bonnie, breaking through defenses, BOOM-RAH!
Marni: Magikoopa Mob leader, Marni, with malicious magic in hand, KOO-RAH!
Broggy: BROOF! ROOF!
Goomther: Goomba Squad leader, Goomther, full of grit, GOO-RAH!
Everyone: King Bowser for life!
Bowser: *smiles* Thank you.
Shawn: Any time, Lord Bowser.
Kathie: We always do our best, my liege.
Bonnie: We're with you to the end, King Bowser.
Marni: By your side no matter what, my king.
Broggy: BROOF!
Goomther: Back to work, everyone! *leaves with the others*
Bowser: *sighs* I couldn't ask for better guys than them. As minions, but also family. *takes the cake back out and continues eating*
I love how Bowser treating his minions as family is basically canon. He might be a bad guy, but he has a heart where it matters.
News ticker finale(?) - 48
After the defeat of the dark star...
Jason: HEY! BOWSER WON! WOOOO!!!!
Billy: Oh.. Oooh boy.
Jason: Well. This is the best footage yet. And, with Fawful dead, the station should be fine again.
Billy: Yeah... Wait, the camera!
Jason: Yeah? ...NOOOOOO!!!!!
*camera was shattered by a goomba when Bowser fought the bros*
Goomba: Sorry!
Billy: My beloved... What do we do now? We had lost all the footage of the fight...
???: I guess we should just keep it a secret.
Jason: Hm? GAH! PRINCESS!
Billy: Your highness, we're honored!
Peach: Well, should we get going?
Both: Huh?
Peach: We need to give Bowser what he earned for today's victory.
Jason: Huh?
Billy: Oh!
Meanwhile...
Kapsci: *sigh* They won.
Bowser Jr.: No. WE won. Well done troops.
Lemmy: PARTY!
Bowser Jr: PARTY!!! (Leaves with the koopalings)
???: You did well, kids...
Gooby: Captain...
Captain Goomba: Alright. But our work isn't over.
Captain Shy Guy: We still need the castle repaired. We had no time.
Marx: Got it, sir!
Sally: We'll be on it!
Marx: STAY AWAY FROM ME! (jets off)
Sally: Oh, no you don't! (follows)
Kapsci: Well, sir! Awaiting orders!
Captain Koopa: Um... Might as well clean, and stay that way. I'll teach you how to properly clean, being a former janitor.
Captain Boo: What are you waiting for, Bast?
Bast: I just can't be happy with this. We've seen a lot...
Captain Boo: Oh, come on. Lighten up. We're still at a 0 casualty count.
Bast: What?
???: Hey Bast! Heard you were crying over my "death."
Bast: Wait. DAVE!
Dave: I'm fine. Bit injured, but fine. Didn't think I was a respawn type bob-omb.
Bast: I missed you...
Gooby: I think, I see how you felt toward the end of your first journey.
Captain Goomba: Hey, I felt like I went through the same journey twice.
*laughter springs from the entire castle*
goomther is the goomba from mario and the rainbow stars, a fan game, the goomba of the elite trio is called privite goomp
@@zacharylandrum4789 He is a Bad Guy, but not a *Bad* Guy
Can we get a counter for how many time Luigi yelled MARIOOOOOO!
3:46 here’s one for the Daredevil Boot Death count.
5:16 here’s another one.
6:00 and here.
6:22 ok that was bogus.
let's play 50 being 50 episodes long sounds like the perfect finale. a GRAND finale you could say! also chakron at the end has different text for if u win fighting as little enemies as possible- fighting some and not hit rainbow and hitting rainbow rank effectively 3 endings for the game
Emile: “You do not want to grind this high.”
Me who’s already sitting on lvl 62 for both bros: 😐
and yet bowser will STILL be hard if you didn't get amazing bonuses on all your level ups. He's tough. You can't just rush in with max defense and no power, you'll run out of turns.
@@TheUltimateRare Dude, I’ve collected every single bean and have pretty good stats for both. My record for beating Class 7 is 13 turns.
I could probably lower it if I used Emile’s strategy.
@@eddieolivas4804 you could do it fast with just level 40 honestly, save the EXELENT!!! badge for the end and have dare devil boots and boosted falling star, and then unleash all hell on bowser
@@eddieolivas4804 nice :D
I think the highest level that I've gotten with the bros so far on my original playthrough so far is 49.
Hey Emile!
Was wondering if the remaining X Bosses would be tackled.
This playthrough has been a blast!
I like how in the final and winning attempt, when Bowser X fires the simplest attack to counter at Luigi and damages him, Chugga's response back was "Screw you, man."
I cannot wait for the bonus video!
HE’S BACK! 🙌🏻
6:20 Oh crap he got wrecked 🤣
16:40 Aw man he’s not getting Bowser up to level 40 :(
24:40 SMACKS HEAD 🤣 dammit Chugga
26:50 Fun fact, I just looked it up and turns out Bowser X here is IMMUNE to ALL statuses including POW/DEF down. That’s why Chugga never got it with Falling Star.
32:20 I’m amazed Chugga is just finding out all these things 😂 or he just forgot
36:20 Chugga pressing both AB at the same time screws him over at one point when the timing is off and he doesn’t have enough time.
One last video next! 🙌🏻
Whew! Finally got caught up on the series just in time to reach the bonus videos.
The good thing about the end of a playthrough is that you could always guess until Emile uploads a trailer for the next one.
16:00 Slight correction, getting anything other than an Excellent with the Excellent!! Badge equipped only resets the badge meter for the bro. that initiated the attack. So it's not quite as merciless and I personally love it, especially when you mostly use Bros. Attacks anyway since those are typically easier to get consistent Excellents with compared to regular attacks.
Let's Go! ChuggaClaus is in Town!
I'm awfully sick right now and this video is exactly what I needed.
Feel better soon.
