This type of performance evergreen and never been forgotten. Old is always gold. My gratitude and tribute to all of them. Their contribution is our blessing.
Last 40yrs I am totally mesmerized of this tune. I met long back Pdt Nikhil Banerjee. I requested him play similar thing and he did similar. That's was also master piece. It was at Ravindra Kalakshetra, Bangalore. It was in 1976.
Though the Sitar was invented by Amir Khusrow, a famous Sufi inventor, poet, and pioneer, it became popularly known all over the world through the works of Pandit Ravi Shankar. Respect to those Immortal Souls.
A Das: Thank you so much for the info. I often listen to sitar & wanted to know more about it. Do you know anything about sarod! (Gr Britain Tue 10 Dec 2019 1938)
Hi, with due respect and no offense to anybody, there is sufficient evidence that the Veena, in its various forms, existed for hundreds of years Before Christ. So it is quite interesting to note this claimed "invention" by Amir Khusrow. Or are we missing something?
@@udoyhasan3928 Amir Khusrau is credited for the invention of the sitar. At the time, there were many versions of the Veena in India. He rechristened the 3 stringed Tritantri Veena as a Sehtaar (Persian for 3 stringed), which eventually became known as the sitar(Amir Khusrau - Wikipedia). Though your theory is also not deplorable.

It is not Amir Khusrau but Khusrau khan who first invented the 3 string instrument .
It’s a marvel to rediscover the different paths he takes to reach the ‘Som’ each time.
