  • I give you my thoughts on this little incubator. Over all I do not recommend you wasting your money on it, It's pretty cheap but I had no luck with it at all. It holds 7 eggs and honestly you don't have much room in there.

I bought one of these also. After few days in noticed all water forming on top so got a hygrometer/thermometer on Amazon and tested it...temp is too low and humidity is too high. I decided to do a little experiment. I removed incubator lid and placed it in a styrofoam cooler with a bit of modification to cooler and temp on bator it is now up to proper temp and humidity with no water in incubator only a slightly wet sponge. At last candling all eggs developing as should be.

Right from the start its easy to tell that the fan is not working as it should. That noise should be a clue and yes it means fan failure. Aside from that for the price its a great improvement over the ones from twenty years ago as they were not digital and the temperature was not regulated. Yes whenever you hear that noise be it an incubator or any other fan equipped item it's time to replace the fan asap.

Holy CHICKEN! This is SusieQ, winner of the "7 Egg Mini Incubator". Your initial test and analysis of this mini incubator was very helpful and allowed me to take additional precautions. I'm reporting back to you that I have ONE chicken egg that hatched (I started with 4 eggs in the incubator). Will just have to wait and see if anymore hatch.
Back when I thought I was getting eggs and it never happened, I went to unplug the incubator that I had running for 2 days. When I open it, it was cold inside although the digital setting was still showing 38.0. That made me wonder if it may have trouble holding the temp and humidity so I housed the incubator inside of an ice chest to help retain the
heat and humidity. I turned the eggs 3 times a day and each time I also refilled the water reservoir so it would only have to re-heat a little water each time and hopefully be able to maintain the humidity quicker.
Dutch....My grandchildren (2 yrs old and 6 yrs old) were at my house last night (because of the weather), so they got to see the new chick this morning. Grandpa took the grandchildren to the store to get chick feed and supplies. The granddaughter named the new chick "Fluffy". The grand-kids are so excited!
    Thanks again.

I have not thought that far ahead. It was so very sad to see the chicks that didn't make it and they seemed to be developed rather far along. Clearly, there is more that I need to do to help insure a better hatch rate. For now, I am focused on the one new baby chick that seems to be doing ok.
My granddaughter has been over here a couple of times to visit the new chick who I am told is named "Fluff", not Fluffy. Can't wait for the grandson to come over (he was napping and didn't get to come over when his sister was here). Granddaughter thinks I'm the coolest grandma.
Dutch.... I don't know if you realize what a gift this incubator was. Thanks so very much.

Be very careful adding water. I'll keep you up on my ducks the next time they lay.

I let it come to temp for half a day or so. Then, the eggs need to go in point down. I am only using it for smaller size eggs. I can imagine that with large eggs you would have to do fewer...maybe only 3 or 4. I bought it because it was cheap and have eggs in it right now. Mine never made that sound, ever. Weird. I have one embryo right now...we will see.

I had nice development in one egg, good temps, etc. The rest of the eggs were either unfertilized, or too old, as I got a dark end with no development. Left them alone, only checking water and turning everyday. Then my cats decided that the table it was on was a good jumping off spot, and the eggs all got rattled...ugh. I think I did not turn often enough since it was manual. The one egg that had development did not hatch. They are still in the incubator. Hatch day was three days ago, so I left them alone. Lessons learned: 1. Turn at least three times a day.; 2. Put the incubator in a safer spot; 3. Make sure eggs are clean and fresh. I am going to try again, but I am going to figure out how to put my external thermometer/hygrometer in in...there will be some modifications made. I will also not put in 7 eggs. I may also not use the egg holder...we shall see.

Looked for a hatching vid. for this incubator, found none. Bought one, thinking incubators ain't rocket science, along with 2 remote temp. and hum. meters. Came with a short but it does not seem to effect it. The thermostat in the unit seems to be pretty accurate, it is slow tho and temps will float slightly, adding heat sinks could help. The spot under the egg holder in the middle reads as a hot spot, it may have the element under it. I'd like to know if plugging that hole is a + or - overall. Getting a grip on the humidity may be the key to success. Although actual temp setting on the machine could be a major factor also ( Which of 5 micro climes.,inside the dome, do you make equal 100f ?). Have seen suggestions forced air incs. be set at 99.5 F. or 37.7/8 C..A + or - ? According to my RH meter, fill the whole water ring and the humid. runs In the high 80s. Fill the lower part only and the humid. runs around 79-82%. Looked allover for something that would hold water and fit into the water channel, found nothing. Cut a sponge 1/2"x1/2"x 3", wet ( not soak ) it, put in res., it held 69-72%. Removed after 90 min., cut in half, put 1/2 back, it held 59-64% for 2 1/2 hrs. then slipped to 55% where it has held for bout 1 hr.. Sorry that I have not been able to get a grip on actual square inches of water surface area needed for different humidity levels but I will work on It. A guess would be about 2 sq." of H2O surface area will hold humidity in the 55% or so range and 3 sq." will hold above 60%. A lot less than I had suspected. If this bit of info helps anyone post a real hatch ( 3 of 4 or so) go for it. You could become famous as the person who stopped the 7 egg incubator slaughter and posted the first real video on how to ACTUALLY use the thing.

I've had all 5 with growing embryos in them but 1 died at day 10. (that's when i forgot to refill the water, oops.) and another died at day 12 which was a few days ago. now we're at day 14 so I'm hoping the 3 remaining eggs hatch. It's really not worth it even if my eggs hatch. I just bought it for my daughter but she doesn't bother it, so i decided to give it a try. I'd rather buy a big incubator with auto Turner/fan and temp installed. Hatching day is May 2nd so we shall see.......

Also I heard that you should really only put up to 4 eggs at a time, even though it says 7 (I know, kinda bogus) but it works better with chicken eggs with only 4 in there. It's supposed to be a countertop, in home deal for small production, not for larger scale operations. It's great for like kids, or enthusiasts who just want to try to hatch a couple eggs. I'm not sure why yours is so loud, mine isn't that loud at all. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. I think it's neat for kids to learn with at home in the house.

I actually bought one of these and tried hatching eggs in it! I tried both quail and chicken. Out of the 17 quail eggs that I laid I got one chick and out of the 5 chicken eggs I laid I got 3 chicks.
First off: the small thermometer in it is on the end of the small black wire. If the end of the wire is on top of the fan then it thinks it is hot in there and lets it cool way down (not good for the chicks). if you have the wire up where the hole in the lid in then it thinks it's too cold and burns the eggs.
2 There's not much room (like you said)
    3. The top of the eggs are cold and the bottom of the eggs are hot...not really warm over the whole thing like it should be.
Anyway, there's my little review of it...it sucks...XD
After several hatches with it I gave up completely and use my Hovabator (holds 41).
Anyway, thanks for the video! :)

  • @wjdtpduqcjswo
    @wjdtpduqcjswo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

well I guess there was a problem with the product but the other factor that gave such a bad result is that u turned it with your hands, which meant the lid was opened too long, and that leads to a fast drop in temperature. and it seems that the plummeting of temp makes the machine to overheat for a long time. also the chicks would have been too stressed due to the quick change in both temp and moisture everyday. in addition eggs shouldn't be turned 180.

Put less eggs in there. Am confused bout the temp and the turning. Some say 38 degrees, some 37.5.? I seen people turning the eggs when holding it as it’s lay on side. You turned them while their pointing down. Am confused.

I hatched two chicks with this incubator. Ok starter incubator but would rather use an auto turner in future.

Maybe because you had the eggs tilted on the same side every time you rotated it 180 degrees, if that makes since... it would stick to the side.

Hey I know this video is pretty old but I was wondering if you could possible help me out Dutch I’m new to incubating and I’ve been watching TH-cam videos for countless hours on figuring this out and went through the whole instruction book that came with the incubator but I was wondering if I could get in touch with you since you know what your doing because I have the 24 egg auto rotating incubator and I’d like to learn more about incubating and things like that

If you read the instructions pointy side egg goes in first he didn’t do that the temperature wire is suppose to be sticking straight up he didn’t do that by his own admission he didn’t understand the instructions I don’t think this is a reliable source of information.
