Just like legalizing opiates would end fentanyl poisoning.

I visited a friend in LA after not seeing him for over 15 years. We just sat in his living room and talked for hours, lots to catch up on. Two weeks later he died from a fentanyl overdose. I have mourned quite a few tragic deaths in my life but that one hit me hard. The circumstances are so unfair. Don't think for a second this is a unique story. Fentanyl is the grim reaper incarnate.

It kills me that the father is hurting knowing his kids are in pain and don’t know how to express it or deal with it and it only gets worse as they grow up. Hopefully he can be that pillar of strength they need in their life’s.
There are fentanyl test strips for people who use drugs occasionally. Obviously these people weren't drug addicts. They were celebrating a night out together, which is extremely common.

I grew up through the oxycontin period. I started using pain pills because they were easily prescribed, I went to using oxycontins because everybody had them and you could buy them from somebody and be high for multiple days off little pieces. Well little do you know your tolerance jumps up so fast, especially if you come back to the drug after being sober. Anyways I ended up becoming a heroin addict for about 15 years. Fentanyl started getting introduced into heroin towards the last 3 to 4 years of my addiction, I honestly didn't like any of my stuff being cut with fentanyl because the high is very strong and does not have a half-life like actual heroin. So you're sick within 4 to 5 hours, where is if you're using heroin you're actually okay for 10 hours before you start feeling the symptoms of being sick. These days people are getting pure fentanyl and we have just fentanyl addicts. It's actually such a dangerous drug, because if you're not using everyday and you don't have a tolerance it wouldn't take much for you to stop breathing and never wake up. I wish that I would have talked about my problems instead of trying to cope with it by self-medicating I wouldn't have had to gone through all the troubles of being traumatized just from the drug life alone. 15 to 20 years of addiction, got me 9 years locked up, homeless, multiple rehabs and to this day I still struggle with it, but I've been clean majority of these last 5 years. I pray that nobody ever has to go through the addictions of an opiate addict
I got started then too... Oxy 160's were still around when I first got going, but i would scrape the lining off an Oxy 40 and sniff just a quarter, for the first so long of my habit. Once my money ran low, I switched to the good NYC dope. I actually got clean for some years, many on Suboxone, some just clean (but smoking weed, whatever) and then a few years into fent having completely displaced heroin, I got back into it. I never overdosed once on Oxy or heroin, but I overdosed like, three months into using fent? It's such a goofy, crappy drug... lasts longer, way more side effects, but subjectively, doesn't get you nearly as actually high. I guess that "fentanyl" is one of actually hundreds of fentanyl analogues, novel opioids, or combinations of multiple of those substances, and sometimes others as well, like they'll throw xylazine in there when it's real bunk. But what happened with me is, one day I went and got some, and I was stupidly still injecting it, which i only did with dope because sniffing it inflamed my lungs so much. I shot some on this day and was pretty sure right away that, whatever it was, was not the same as what it had been. The high was weak and wack, but also, it felt a little off. Three hours later i injected the exact same amount I injected the first time, which always worked fine for me with the stuff i'd been getting from that same guy.... I injected it, messed around in my seat for the better part of a minute, stood up, and... ...next thing I know I'm coming conscious from blackness, and aware that my heart is pounding, and my scalp is burning. I guess I overdosed, but not so bad that my body wasnt able to shock me back out of it. I just slumped forward into my PC, no clue how long I was out for. And, I was higher at that point, than i'd ever been in my life. I was so scared i'd fall back out so i dressed as quick as I could and just went outside, walked up and down some main-ish street, slamming energy drinks for a couple hours until I was sure I was gonna be OK. But yeah, it's so hard to gauge a safe dose when you never know if what you got now, is the same stuff you got last time. And especially when the high is so bunk that a dose that hardly got you high, is apparently nearly enough to cause an OD. Weird, wack stuff. It also.... it varies so much depending on what fent you;re getting, but the stuff up here now, if you stop taking it, it takes a full WEEK before you actually fully enter withdrawal. Like if you want to take a suboxone, if you dont wait SEVEN days, you're going to have some precipitated withdrawal effects. The stuff that used to be around up here wasnt like that, but the stuff up here now, is. It's such a weird and wack drug

I hardly cry because I truly can’t accept it. Bad mix of legal meds, sui cide, fentanyl.. is how I’ve lost all the loved ones that are my age (32). WHY?! My parents lost ONE friend in a car accident and that’s it. My generation and younger is being killed off due to self medicating and depression (that goes hand in hand.). The generations before would probably just look down on ppl dying these ways but we’re educated enough now to know it’s not their fault now. Or maybe you have to be one of them to have understanding? My heart goes out to you. 😔 I have 19yrs clean from cocain abuse and Im 54yrs old. This group of 5 could have been me and my friends too. I recently attended an NA meeting with a girl who had 8 days clean. I hadn't been in those rooms for 15yrs. It absolutely devested me how many people were there. It was completely packed with so many young people. I sobbed on the ride home, when I considered that those were the ones seeking help, so imagine how many are still out there dieing. So, so sad. I realized how much grace I've been given in my life in that moment. Although I saw people die it was not to this degree. Things were much different when I was lost in addiction. God in heaven help us 🙏. These drugs are being pumped into our nation with intention. There is a horrific agenda being perpetuated on our youth. It's just devastating to me. 😔

This same thing happened to my friend 5years ago . Him and 3 others went out for a birthday celebration and all 4 decided last-minute to have a little recreational fun with drugs at his apartment after going out for dinner . The next morning all 4 were found dead from fentanyl overdose 🥲. I'll never forget how it impacted me and still does until this day .
Hope you have people around u to support u. I wish ur friend peace & just know their energy will never be absent. All energies remain even after us passing on. Peace to u family.

I genuinely wish drugs like this never existed, then maybe my friend could have lived a long life. . .*
None of this would happen if they legalized opiates. I've been taking pharmaceutical opiates for many years due to chronic pain. I've never even come close to overdosing. It's almost impossible when the stuff is legal. Prohibition is killing the youth.
I know waaay too many people wrapped up in the drug scene and they're all very aware of the fentanyl but they "think" they know what they're doing. My cousin just lost her son to an overdose four days before his 27th birthday and she's still using, even after spending 30 days in rehab and getting a Rx of Suboxone. My stepdad overdosed last month and he still keeps getting dope. Families of addicts get to the point of accepting that they'll get " that call" eventually. We know that lifestyle leads to prison or death.
So frustrating and hearttbreaking to read..Cheap drugs also make it easy to buy them. We all need to fight this. Thats why never try it. Once you try you get addicted for life.. Addicts need purging and also some strong distraction from drugs. Hard core activities..+ Therapy + Meditation. And need to cut loose bad friends and people in their circle. And need to solve the root cause of their problem, what drove them to drugs in the first place.
Did the police go through every single one of the deceased phones to see who made the buy im pretty sure 1 of them made the call or txt to the person they purchased the drugs from?
Many dealers use burn phones. You can best believe that phone is long gone. It's very hard to trace the small dealers. Gotta go after the big fish. That means closing the doggone border until we can get this under control.
They have all the phones unlocked except for one; And the FBI is still trying to crack it…. The way Colorado laws are they can’t charge anyone because they didn’t say it was fentanyl…My family and the other 4 are trying to get this changed
When a person says that another person is not a drug user just because they use one time, well it’s not true. If a person uses once in a while, then they are still a user.
Not a consistent user tho . Not an addict neither so it still sucks someone dies trying to have a little fun . People drink on the weekends that doesn’t mean they are alcoholics
I’m so sorry for all they’re losses and my most sincere condolences and prayers are with them. So, the mother and father were with their four-month-old baby while they did drugs. I do not feel one bit sorry for any of those dolts. Who in hell does drugs while your baby is with you?!!! The only victim in this, is the baby, who couldn't depend on the two people he should have been able to depend on. They put their selfish needs of doing drugs over the care of their baby.

Yes, that's true, but almost everyone had made a poor choice at least once in their life. All of us could be dead...it still amazes me how we are fragile and strong at the same time. I lost my aunt, dad, grandma and mom in last 4 years and I sometimes find it really hard to cope, so I understand choices that can, unfortunately, be fatal. However, I applaud those who can overcome this completely and have control over there lives again.
My husband died and had to be brought back from taking an oxycodone for his back and was dead 5 min later. Paramedics didn't get him back until they got to the hospital 15 min later. It was the worst day of my life. He gave the other pill to the paramedic the Dr tested it and it was almost pure feytenol. They were surprised he made it. Not ever doing it and then ingesting that amount is almost always fatal. I've talked to my son so many times he just turned 12 about calling me or his dad if someone ever offers him anything I don't care if they say it's Tylenol never ever take anything from anyone except mom and dad. I pray it sticks and he's never in this situation. Kids make mistakes and it's so sad it ended these kids lifes. Praying for peace for the family 🙏

We also need an overdose archive just like our gun violence archive, showing data of deaths and hospitalizations to create more awareness so we can save more lives and get better laws and legislation to lower the death rate!!
it's a horrible thing that they died, but they did choose to do drugs which everyone knows is illegal, everyone knows it's dangerous, and thousands are murdered every year by the cartels because of the demand from us stupid Americans who don't think about the consequences of our actions and how they relate to another country.
Problem with that is the perps selling the stuff aren’t going to let you test it like that. They want the money first. Wasting money only to buy a drug that’s fake after you tested it

If you're willing to do cocaine around a baby then that says a lot about how far gone you are into your drug addiction & how far down the toilet your life is...
We have become desensitized to what is considered "hanging out", doing cocaine is not a "hanging out" activity. More and more we are seeing kids/young adults on drugs. And becoming more violent ! And this all comes down to is upbringing!
Yep, and glorifying drugs. I can’t believe how many tv shows and movies portray consuming alcohol and smoking pot is like drinking milk and eating cookies. It’s ridiculous.
It's all vary sad. It's so sad that so many people with children think that it's ok to do a little coke/street drugs once in a while. Sad example for these kids. Hopefully the rest of the remaining adults in their lives won't take any chances. Don't drink and drive. Street drugs are deadly. Don't keep your baby formula next to the lines.
They tell us from the time we’re kids: don’t do drugs. We all grow up knowing the risks. The pain they left behind is heartbreaking. You don’t need drugs to “have a little fun.”
I just survived an OD on sunday my parents were mad that my brother found me and called cops they told me they wished i just died. I did too after hearing that. Id do anything to have parents like this who love me id be clean by now. So i left my home trying to get into a program they are all full. Im sleeping on the freezing streets waiting for a bed. I hope people start realizing that addiction is a sickness i dont want to be this way, none of us choose this hell. Its suffering 24/7.
I'm so sorry your parents said that to you, but I understand because my mom threw me out at age 15 because she didn't want me anymore. I wasn't even using drugs, but it hurt me to the core. I pray you get help soon and please stay safe out there. Don't give up
Last week a random guy asked me if I want to buy cigarettes, I just ignored him. There's no way he's selling cigarettes! I rejects anything which is addictive, cigarettes, weed, soda, sugary drinks
Going after the dealers is the wrong strategy. Even the family of Michael K Williams say he would not want his dealer being the one blamed. This shizz is so much bigger.
I am very sorry for all the families losses. What a selfish decision on the part of the baby's parents to take drugs while the baby was in the house. The fact that they thought it was coke doesn't make it any better. People need to start thinking logically. If anything illegal can be laced, don't use any of it. All these families are left with the grief and sorrow...and a little baby is left without parents.
Exactly. What do people think prescribed drugs are....drugs that have been tested for purity by a governmental agency.....street drugs ARE NOT!! You can never trust street drugs and certainly not now that fentanyl is readily available. Also, the dealers are breaking the law (not good at caring about societal protection laws)....but people are trusting them with what chemicals go into their bodies?!?!
Parents we need to think before we do anything. Specifically if we have little ones waiting for us to come home. One split second decision can change our hole future. This breaks my heart.

Tamara, I feel sorry for any family members THAT did not know these people had a drug problem, or knew they had a drug problem and tried hard to get them clean!! Any family member (or friend) that knew of the drug use AND did nothing is just as culpable as the druggies who killed themselves! I am an evil, heartless person. You know what? Truth hurts! People need to quit making excuses for addicts and put the blame where it belongs. ON THE ADDICTS!
"She was not a drug addicted. She was trying to have fun"...."She was poisoned"....again playing down their irresponsable actions. And they leave grief, sorrow, and children with no parentes. When you have kids your responsability doubles.
I know what the families are going through, I lost my brother 4 years ago from drugs laced with fentanyl and synthetic fentanyl. My prayers for everyone.
It is shockkngly common and widely accepted, I'm really struggling to have the sympathy for the deceased that I once would of had. Fentanyl laced drugs are widely known about, some of these people were parents and yet they were happy to put money in the hands of criminals to have a fun night.
Geeze, where the hell have you been? Hop out of that bubble. Maybe it's a good thing being cloistered in that shell. There's nothing shocking about the drug use. What's shocking is when a person tells me they're training for a marathon or something like that.
It's actually extremely common. Kids were doing that before they were doing anything else because it's looked at like a party drug in Hollywood and all the stars are doing it for decades. I actually met kids in high school that we're doing that before they started using heroin, I was the opposite, I started pills, and then heroin, and then cocaine. But cocaine was the first upper I ever tried.

The people who think people who use drugs deserve to be poisoned are ignorant.. whoever is putting fentanyl in these drugs is murdering people. There are inexpensive fentanyl test strips. Anyone who dabbles should use them.
This was a heart breaking story ! This is just one of too many across the United States! Parents communicate with your kids about the drugs that are out there right now!!
@@Cryptum404 Fentanyl does not come mainly from MX, but the problem here is that someone put it in their blow. It's like poisoning your weed or your aspirin.
Local dealers may not be given details on specific products. Often times local dealers are merely retail sales rep for global organizations. Industrial-grade Fentanyl is most likely produced in China and exported to countries like Mexico and later smuggled into the US.
It’s very unfortunate that this happened to these young people. You just don’t know what you are getting and it’s sad that a child is without their mom because they were unaware of what they had. It’s painful and I am sad as well as disappointed, but he was only human and he made a mistake. He paid a worse price than I ever could have. I still think about him a lot and miss him dearly.
Thats is such eye opening story. Thankyou for sharing. Wishing you strength, full recovery and healing and peace..🙏
What a horrible tragedy.

It can be severe. Had a chiropractor 20 years.
This sounds like crap. Stop making excuses.😊
@@darthsigil I'm not making excuses. My sister is a nurse. It literally happens all the time. You get pinpoint pupils when you OD. You can't fake that. You also can't fake your heart beat rapidly dropping or going into cardiac arrest. And I sound like crap? I'd say I believe any nurse over your personal opinions. Wishing a cop was lying isn't the same as them lying. Look up overdoses off feytenol. Your not very intelligent if you believe every day citizens can OD on it yet a cop can't from sniffing it. It's literally a grain of salt is all it takes. Look that one up too. Your uneducated about the drug clearly. And your arguing with facts not my personal opinions. my husband dying wasn't a joke and it isn't something to joke about we have kids. Go start unnecessary arguments with someone else. It's not needed here.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 did I say he took a pill or bought a pill from a dealer? No. That not anymore family member is in jail. And so is her husband for falsifying prescriptions. I'm not interested in negative or immature comments on a post about people who OD. Especially people who arnt trying to get high or even aware of it. This cop was doing her job and people still want to say it's fake. It's ridiculous. Go open a bag of it and see what it does to you. See if you fake an OD. They don't even give that amount to cancer patients who are dying. And it's not powder form it's liquid in an i.v. it's completely different. If I hadn't talked to drs or cops after the incident I'd maybe question my opinion. However these are not my opinions. These are things happening daily to everyone. Not just cops. Are the others who OD faking it too? Are their kids?
I'm so happy that your husband survived! He was just trying to ease back pain, and as you stated, from family, what should be a trusted source. I'm glad you still have one another!

People arent going to stop taking drugs, what needs to happen is over the counter fentanyl testers !! We also need an overdose archive just like our gun violence archive, showing data of deaths and hospitalizations to create more awareness so we can save more lives and get better laws and legislation to lower the death rate!!
U can die just by touching it or smelling it.. so how can one test it
We need to close the border. This is an opium war. China and Mexico will just find a new drug eventually.
And no more cover-ups by law enforcement and politicians.
it's a horrible thing that they died, but they did choose to do drugs which everyone knows is illegal, everyone knows it's dangerous, and thousands are murdered every year by the cartels because of the demand from us stupid Americans who don't think about the consequences of our actions and how they relate to another country.
Problem with that is the perps selling the stuff aren’t going to let you test it like that. They want the money first. Wasting money only to buy a drug that’s fake after you tested it
My condolences to all the victims families & friends. This is heartbreaking to watch.
Bullied for years I turned to drugs as my parents kicked me out and ended up living in a shelter briefly it got bad enough for me to change I count my blessings to this day as I know I should have been dead but somebody up above watching out for me.
Thank God 🙏 Glad you are clean and happy
Keep passing along your experience...will save lives !
No, it was your own strength and will. But, whatever, so glad you're doing well.
Dropping your kids off " I'll be back (after I take stupid drug's I know I shouldn't)" just stupid decisions. Bless their hearts

Coke isn't deadly. These people were poisoned! You don't get it.
Fentanyl is coming through the border
👍
This is a very good reason not to take drugs.
Say no to drugs. Don’t do drugs.
Oh my god, what a good daddy… I’m sorry that happened.. I don’t know your name but you are a great dad. Sending love
Me and the children appreciate your kind words!

Last week a random guy asked me if I want to buy cigarettes, I just ignored him. There's no way he's selling cigarettes! I rejects anything which is addictive, cigarettes, weed, soda, sugary drinks
That's the perfect thing he said "No Drugs are safe". Maybe this tragedy and others that are happening is a huge wake up to not use PERIOD.
Using street drugs is like playing Russian roulette.
Exactly. Game has changed
Honestly I feel the same. I don't understand when parents do stuff like that.
Coke itself is already deadly. Let alone fentanyl.
There's nothing wrong with coke. 🙄🤷♀️

I just lost my best friend to fentanyl. He and I were best friends for 8 years and he was everything to me.
Parents we need to think before we do anything. Specifically if we have little ones waiting for us to come home. One split second decision can change our hole future. This breaks my heart.

Don't take drugs even once. It's not part of having fun or hanging out. It's potentially deadly, every time. Why can't people not get that into their heads? It's very simple really: DON'T DO IT.
Preach !!! It ain’t fun, it’s plain stupid.
Why are YOUNG PARENTS going to cocaine parties. It’s not like these are hard core addicts. You simply CAN NOT TAKE THE RISK. Find other ways to “have fun “ that don’t include doing illegal drugs.

SMH back in my day coke was coke. Damn shame these drug dealers are killing off their own customers.
Drug dealers had integrity back in the day ...
I'm not convinced it's drug dealers.. obviously murderers posing as dealers. The thing is, they aren't killing addicts. Addicts know their drug dealers and know what they're getting. Casual users need to invest in fentanyl test strips. They're cheap.
I'm so sorry for all the families that are grieving. I'm sorry for the stigma that has probably been put on the victim's. Every life is worth saving and every person is still someone's child.
Whatever. When the blacks were struggling with crack cocaine, it was their fault. They weren’t moral. They deserved it. They went to jail or went homeless. Now drug addicts are victims? Wow
Tamara, I feel sorry for any family members THAT did not know these people had a drug problem, or knew they had a drug problem and tried hard to get them clean!!
Any family member (or friend) that knew of the drug use AND did nothing is just as culpable as the druggies who killed themselves!
As far as any stigma put on the druggies that killed themselves- they deserve every bit of it! They have ONLY themselves to blame!!
They chose to do drugs, they killed themselves!
Yeah, I know. I am an evil, heartless person.
You know what? Truth hurts!
People need to quit making excuses for addicts and put the blame where it belongs. ON THE ADDICTS!

My condolences for the families and friends of these 5 people
I didn’t realize cocaine use so was so “common”. I’m literally shocked they were doing it yet everyone appears to be okay with this. My my my.
It is shockkngly common and widely accepted, I'm really struggling to have the sympathy for the deceased that I once would of had. Fentanyl laced drugs are widely known about, some of these people were parents and yet they were happy to put money in the hands of criminals to have a fun night.
I know. A new baby and snorting cocaine? That’s shocking
If you play you pay. Don't want to pay?? Don't play
Dam seeing him crying made me cry i could feel his pain and u can see how much he loves her and his kids and i agree some one should pay for taking part in their deaths. there needs to be justice for these poor 5 victims.R.I.P and i send my condolences to the families. hope use get the justice use are looking for.
I lost my nephew to fentanyl poisoning. He thought he was taking meth. He was found alone in his apartment. He was only 25, a great barber who was getting his own business going. He had been struggling with addiction but I know he would've came thru. I know he would've overcame it. Now, he'll never have the chance.

@@Cryptum404 Fentanyl does not come mainly from MX, but the problem here is that someone put it in their blow. It's like poisoning your weed or your aspirin.
Dead dealers.
Local dealers may not be given details on specific products. Often times local dealers are merely retail sales rep for global organizations. Industrial-grade Fentanyl is most likely produced in China and exported to countries like Mexico and later smuggled into the US.

The second you become a parent, your party days should be over.
It’s very unfortunate that this happened to these young people. You just don’t know what you are getting and it’s sad that a child is without their mom because they were unaware of what they had. I’m glad my experimentation was done back in the 90’s and I would just not risk it now. My friend passed after a meth induced heart attack in 2016 and he was in his 40’s. It’s painful and I am sad as well as disappointed, but he was only human and he made a mistake. He paid a worse price than I ever could have. I still think about him a lot and miss him dearly. My heart breaks for this family and their loved ones. 😢
Same here mate, me& my friend had been clean off heroin for ages but he was dabbling without me knowing, he had a heart attack& died two yrs ago& it still saddens me when I think of him or his two kids.
