- In this video, I wrap up my coverage of Survivor 43 by ranking every player on the season based on how I feel like they played on this season.

I don’t think they’re allowed to say that after getting voted out, although I believe Australian Survivors have done this.
I’m kind of hoping that 3 under the radar winners in a row will cause players to rethink the “goat” strategy. Bigger threats aligning early in the post merge to knock out the mid/low level players who would take their spot in the finale. I’d love to see the best players make it further.
Highly doubt it, the 26 day format coupled with Fire 4 Fire-making and a Final 3 heavily incentivizes getting out the biggest threat to win at every opportunity from around Final 8 onwards, which makes their insistence on having split tribals at 10 so frustrating as with the current game format a natural Final 10 and 9 are likely to be the most chaotic rounds of the game.
Yeah they need to get rid of threats early because they CANNOT reach final 4. Ideally before final 5 too because they could have an idol. Heck even before final 6 with multiple advantages in play.
I mean I got to admit, the fact that he gets Jeannie's vote at the end is crazy.
I don't think it is. Jeanine is one of the most insanely idiotic followers of the new era
I agree, although the move to get Cody out may have gave Jesse a disadvantage in getting to Final Tribal, I do believe it gave him the best chance to win. Idk if he wins if Cody is there with him cause he COULD look like someone who was dragged by a Tony like figure and never tried to get him out. TBH it’s a tough call.
I think Jesse should of waited longer to cut cody. Because cody is good at comps, he would of kept jesse safe ensuring a better chance neither of them would have to go to fire.
@@realityrob1951sure that benefits him on the one round where it’s up to immunity and fire, that helps, but with Cody being an immunity threat and him winning final immunity, if he takes Jesse, Cody probably still wins
@@SYRUPNDINOS Possibly but not a guarantee. You have to make it to the end to have a chance at winning. Jesse cut the guy that was 100% loyal to him to the very end. After that move Jesse had the biggest target on his back and since he sucks at challenges, he was a sitting duck.
@@realityrob1951 Yeah it made much more sense to cut Karla as planned when Karla was also a jury threat, almost on par with Cody and Jesse anyway, and when Karla had no allegiance to Jesse whatsoever, unlike Cody who was dyingly loyal to him.

No way in hell should Cassidy be over Cody or Karla, especialy over Cody. God no. How can a goat who had no winnable Final 3 be that high. I also don't agree with Gabler being over Cody.
After watching a best of Gabler video, I'm going to have to agree that Gabler is right above Cassidy. While at first I thought that Gabler's final tribal was kind of a fluke, watching clips back reveals that his game really was intentional the whole time. My only issue with his strategy is that it's like 20% goatish. He needed to be with Cass and Owen to not be viewed as a goat.

I have a suggestion for a Survivor recast video: A Season where players who were voted out 1 vote before joining the Jury are brought back; from Season 1 Borneo this would be Gretchen, & in Season 43 this would be Dwight. In a cast of 18, this would mean about 2/3 of them do better then they did the 1st time they played since 7-10 would be on the Jury & 3 would make it to the end. Plus, as a personal note, I have always wondered what's worse on Survivor; being the 1st person out or being the person who got voted out 1 vote before joining the Jury since either way you don't get to experience being on Survivor for the whole Season, so maybe some of them might talk about this.
When I think of Cassidy’s game the first runner up that comes to mind is Katie from Palau. Although I think Cass is a much better social player, they pretty much just went a long with the majority to the end and were never perceived as a threat to win by the jury. Also from Palau, I think Gabler is what Greg would’ve been had he won that season, not at the top of the alliance but seen as someone good enough to win. Just an opinion…..
Cassidy was called a threat throughout the entire game so she did have respect up until final 5 ish. I really think Karla and Jesse’s lack of respect for her is what helped determine the outcome.
I also think she's the skupin in Philepeans who thought he was winning no matter what and was very cocky.
I don’t mind the list. I’d move Cody to 2, but that’s my only major gripe. I’d move a couple other smaller things around

I like this list, but I’d move Cody and Karla over Cass and Noelle over Owen. I like that you had Gabler 2, I think he played a very underrated game that wasn’t shown at all in the show.
Agreed 100% other than Noelle and Owen. I'd argue that James would be hire than Cassidy as well, he just got insanely unlucky at the first dtc
@@jewski6852 I think James got very cocky and overconfident, they’re probably neck and neck tho. I like Noelle’s game and while I don’t think she played a “great game”, Owen was consistently out of the majority and only kept in the game for the fact it would be an easy win. I’m not a fan of saying that just because they made the final makes their game better even though they played so bad they couldn’t even get a vote right. He was well liked, sure, but by what I saw it felt like Noelle at least tried creating close bonds to gain back the majority, while Owen was just took along.
Finally a realistic take on Cassidy's game.

No it is way too generous. No way should she be this high. Over Cody or Karla. Over Cody especialy is ridiculous.
@Roland Green I agree but with rankings it's his opinion and it is the most realistic I've heard from youtubers . Everyone thinks she's so great and was robbed and I agree with you . She played a bottom of the road game. I think Erica from 41 played better and that's saying something ahhahahahhaha
@@Rp10101 Erika from Season 41 was MUCH better than Cass. She was screwed bigtime by the edit, which pretty much everyone by now knows. Cass's popularity with fans is baffling to me. Maybe since she is hot.

Cassidy at 3 is a tad too high imo. I'd have her around the 5 or 6 point
I'm surprised you still put Cass as 3rd. I would have had her at around 6th. She had immunity wins with Karla getting the opposite at times the men wanted to vote them out to keep her around. She got to the end with higher threats/immunities saving her.
No she should be atleast 2nd, if not possibly 1st. Jessie is the only one with a case to be over her.

They need to bring back 2nd chance again. Theres so many good players that deserves to win but didnt win. I literally almost threw my phone when Jesse lost the fire making but decided to shed a little tears instead

Cody had the best win equity if you mean who wins a jury vote. Cody no doubt beats everyone, including Jesse.

@@drewveflin2842 Hardly. Jesse even admits he betrayed his "brother" Cody since he knew he would 100% guaranteed lose to him in a jury vote. It was the same reason Rob betrayed Grant on Redemption Island for instance, basically same thing 10 years later.
@@rolandgreen7484 grant wouldn’t have beaten rob and i strongly feel that jesse would be better at pitching his game to the jury than cody. there was a few-episode span there where the viewer was meant to see cody as the less strategic half of the duo. jesse def beats cody imo

Just a suggestion: maybe start to focus on positives of the games of the players at the top of your list. Why even have Cassidy and Karla in your top 5 if you’re just going to dunk on them the entire time?
Cassidy had an interview and she had an answer that shed a lot of light on why she didn't win, she talked about how unfair it was that the jury wanted her to do fire, which is true, but she said they wouldn't ask that of someone else but in season 40, they specifically didn't vote for Natalie because she didn't go to fire.
Natalie was an Extinction returner, a first tribal vote out with zero moves, literally. Cassidy marked Noelle, Sami, Karla and yes, Ryan for elimination. Her only flaw was letting her allies to the dirty work, and that's a huge flaw for a jury that wants big moves. I'd also give her the credit for knowing to choose the right man to win fire over Jesse.
That's true, I don't think it's a fair criteria, and as a whole the final 4 tribal format punishes the winner of the final immunity challenge because if you don't make fire the question will always be why didn't you. My point wasn't if it was a fair question but rather that it's a question that literally everyone who wins the final 4 immunity has a will face, and when someone personalizes a more general or systematic problem it can be rather annoying
Sorry but the mere idea or suggestion Natalie, a first boot, ever deserved to win over Tony, who played one of the best games ever, is laughable in itself. I feel like slapping anyone who even suggests something so dumb (or 3 of the 4 jurors who voted for her, Jeremy is acceptable for obvious reasons). It is fucked up she even got 2nd over Michele, and I am no Michele fan, and I do consider Natalie a better player than Michele overall but not this season.

Cassidy is too high. She definitely shouldn’t be above Cody. I don’t even think she should be above Karla because Karla had a stronger chance of winning against her in a final 3.

@@jasmine1stan857 You thinking Cody is overrated has nothing to do with his gameplay. The point is Cody played a better game than Cassidy. Probably the second best game of the season behind Jesse. Even if Karla’s game got worse in the end, she still played a better game than Cassidy and would’ve won over her in the end.
@@tmm4195 no I would actually disagree with you there. Karla did nothing but make a bigger target of herself in the post merge and let james go which Cassidy wouldn't have let happen. Cassidy outplayed her by being better positioned. Karla having better win equity means shit when it's clear she was never getting to the end to begin with, same with Cody who mostly followed Jesse.
@@jasmine1stan857 Cody didn’t follow Jesse. They were in an alliance and Cody was the one looked at as doing the work which is why Jesse decided to vote him out. You can disagree with me all you want, but my opinion is staying the same. Cassidy might be the most overrated player to play in a long time.
@@tmm4195 Cody came off as the biggest threat like Karla because poor threat management. He wasn't doing all the work Jesse was and he was only taken out for Jesse to seperate his game from his. I'm not saying Cassidy is great or something but I think some of the hate she gets is an response to all the love her archetype gets and now she finally lost

Tbh I think Jeaninr has potential to be a very good player recently I rewatched 43 and she has a good mindset for the game I think it was just her game that was bad not her actual ability as a player . As if we are doing it off how they are as a player rather than gamr I think she would be very high atleast top 10
With the exception of Jesse, there really was no exceptional player this season. I agree about the top three (as players only - including personalities, Cassidy and Cody are in my top 3 and Gabler is out). That is if we disregard the speculation, because with them, it feels like they diminished Cassidy's game in the edit so we don't like her enough, to kinda justify an otherwise inexcusable jury decision.
Cody should be way higher than Cass as he actually could have won the game, unlike Cass. He probably beats everyone in a jury vote, including even Jesse. And he was well positioned to make the end, if Jesse, brilliant player that he is, didn't orchestrate his blindside in a brilliant way. I agree with Jesse #1, but would easily put Cody #2 considering he was the biggest jury threat, ran a lot of the game, and was well positioned to make the end despite going out at Final 6. I would probably have Karla or James #3. Cass is overrated and shouldn't even be top 5, especialy considering she even gets destroyed by Gabler in a jury vote, and was targetted constantly despite being a big goat.

I think since Cassidy made it to the very end she should be higher and she did survive to good chunk of people targeting her

Agree Owen easily higher than his ranking. What he criticizes Owen for he praises others who just got lucky.
idk about cassidy’s “bad relationships” with people like ryan and geo. to me, she seemed very easy to get along with and geo and ryan are just sucky people.

@@jacobway468 no i’m sorry. he can’t even take ownership of the ellie vote in my opinion. he never led the charge for anything. planting seeds isn’t good enough, that’s such low-hanging fruit. winning in fire, in my opinion, should only be considered a good move if you eliminate a good fire maker. jesse isn’t. gabler didn’t outsmart jesse in anyway which is what survivor is about so that isn’t a great move in any sense. someone in final four is always going to be the fire winner, it’s nothing special at this point. even if it had been owen or cassidy who took jesse out in fire, i would still not count it as a big move. it’s a mandatory part of the game. and all time great final tribal? let’s get real. to me it was more about cassidy and owen slightly blowing it (the key word is slightly, as i think cassidy did a fine job and a vote for a winner shouldn’t be solely determined by how the questions are answer at ftc). gablers final tribal felt the same to me as all of his confessionals all season: delusional. he just said a bunch of stuff that sounded cool and he had conviction in his voice. in reality, he didn’t do much and we all know that. we didn’t see his game the whole season and it’s weird how people are all of the sudden acting like they saw his game all along just because he won. not me.
and before anyone tries to tell me erika’s game was invisible too, no it wasn’t. go watch 41 again.

going into the finale i thought that cassidy would win against owen and gabler

in the finale we saw cassidy ruining her chances at getting jesse and karlas vote
through out the season we saw gabler building good relationships with sami, owen, noelle, jesse, and cody
so sami, noelle, jesse, and cody would vote for gabler
and karla would not vote for cassidy
so cassidy was not going to win
I don’t think there’s anyway Geo can be below Lindsey or Justine. Lindsey wasn’t able to gain a ride or die ally like Geo with Ryan and Justine played worse in her first round. Geo demonstrated way more social ability than either of them.
How can you say Owen is better then so many people? I understand in another game he probably does well and he just had unlucky circumstances but based on this season alone he was not better than Noelle, or Dwight in my opinion.
I think you rank Cass too high, but if you rank her that highly you should atleast praise her game and the good points of it (which there are many) to make your high ranking of her make some sense. To rank her so high, then dump on her in your entire piece on her is baffling and looks dumb.
A majority of the online community thought of her very highly and so he has to focus more on why he doesn't think so. He does that all the time so he hot takes make more sense.
I still blame Karla for the 5 final round. if she realized how much in danger she was she would have teamed up with Jesse to take out our Cassidy.
the other 3 still wanted either jesse or karla out so i really blame jesse for showing his idol because if he didn't the 4 could put the votes on him then he could vote out cass.

in my oppinion morriah wasnt even the weakest in the first challenge jeanine was . i did like jeanine but i was so upset when morriah got voted out i loved her maybe not in a strategic ways but she was so funny and has so much personalitites
I think Dwight is where he should be but you're giving him way too much credit:. I don't know how you don't even bring up he gave up his idol and was an actively bad strategist. The allies he had were all on the bottom too and joined eachother out of need

Ellie’s performance in this season was poor, but i think if she played 100 times she does very well in majority of them.
I THINK JESSE'S GAME IS OVERRATED. You talk about luck allot but Jesse's game was centered around an idol falling in his lap. I don't think he makes the Cody move if he doesn't have that 2nd idol. Also the Cody move was an overplay, yes we know Cody had allot of win equity, but in the final four I think he would've had a much better shot a getting to the final 3 and pleading his case. If Cody wins final immunity he takes Jesse. If Cassidy won I think she takes Jesse cause she would want to use gabler to take out Cody. Those are two path to the final tribal that he lost cause he wanted the surest but hardest path. We have seen Jesse's style game before and it rarely if ever wins so is it a good game?
Maybe he is overrated, but who else should be #1? Gabler, one of the worst winners ever? The insanely overrated Cass? Cody and Karla are the only others I could see a case for. However Jesse totally outplayed Cody when he got him out, and Karla played the Final 5 round like an idiot. Also Jesse beats everyone in a jury vote, including even Karla, except for Cody, who he loses to for sure. That is why the Cody move made sense. Yeah Cody would have taken him to the end, but he loses to him, so why be willing to go along with that.

Despite the fact that Cass did more than ppl are saying and just got screwed by her edit, at the end of the day this video is someone’s opinion. It doesn’t mean he’s wrong it’s just what he thinks.
I definitely think Karla should be ranked higher. Her agency in the game was there throughout and she had control for most of it. She just was outplayed by Jesse and he made her look dumb by the end. It’s not her fault the other players weren’t worth Jesse’s time

@@devondonato4609 I see your rational but I mostly ask myself "what chance did said player have to win the season". I am now convinced Cass could not have won any jury vote. Even if she was somehow with Owen and Sami, which she was nowhere close to trying for or making happen, I think she still probably loses. And I don't think she even makes the end as often as people think either. Karla had more chance to actually win the game considering she made Final 5 and beats everyone except probably Cody and Jesse in a jury vote.
@@dougierichardson484 this is just based on the fact Karla’s post merge game was so bad and she literally had no chance of ever making FTC, it was literally her failing to get her way wasting her idol and failing to get Cassidy out. She honestly had the worst post merge strategy for anybody that made it that far this season, her only strength was her social game. I think to rank somebody’s game depends more on how they maneuvered moreso how more likely they were to win a jury vote.

I love your content and survivor!Owen winning 1/3rd of the immunity challenges moves him into top 5. No higher than 5 but he easily outplayed James, Carla & Sammy. His social skills allowed him to live on the bottom and adapt and overcome. If gabled can win by Alligablwr then for Christ sakes I don’t see why Owen gets shit on. This season while enjoyable really ram off the Tracks when Jesse shit where he ate. Great gameplay that cost him a million dollars. Sometimes karmas a royal bitch. Backstabbing your boy while purposely leaving his idol and using an idol you lucked into for someone else!! That type of BS to do whatever it takes including throwing your own people under the bus isn’t ruthless. It’s brain dead and shockingly poor decision making for a PHD in political science.

Yet he overranked her. He placed her 3rd, ridiculously high, even over someone like Cody who no way she should be over. Gabler, who is a crummy winner was also overranked at 2nd mind you.

I would put her 5th behind Jesse, Cody, Karla, Gabler probably. Jesse and Cody are obvious, yet he ranked her above Cody which means he overrates her if anything. Karla I think was a much stronger player and more capable of winning the game. She never would have lost a jury vote to someone like Gabler as Cass did easily. I don't like Gabler's game at all, and do find Cass atleast more strategic than him, but he did win the jury vote lopsidedly over Cass, while being a bigger lock to make the end than she was, so it is hard to argue with that.

You underrate Cassidy. She should for sure be over Gabler who is garbage and only won due to a bitter jury. I would even say she has a case to be 1st over Jessie, who played horribly the final 3 rounds of the game.

..For someone who did nothing for the entirety of the game, thought they were making moves than they actually were, was TARGETED more so than they actually should’ve been and was a huge end-game goat. 3rd, over Karla and Cody is a legitimate stretch. I mean, being blindsided with your own idol but having a shot, being in the minority and also having a shot, playing a reckless endgame but having a shot is a much more concrete deal than being a goat in the majority and just riding it.

How so? She had the opportunity to articulate a move she made in the game and failed miserably. When the jury called her out for attributing that as a sole move she did when it wasn’t, she had no fallback because for someone who rarely made any moves, she weirdly played it safe the entire time.
Also, how was the jury bitter? Noelle asked her why she didn’t go head-to-head in fire. This is speculation that she NEEDED to make a huge splashy play because beforehand, she didn’t make any at all. She and Gabler took out Jesse but what happens when someone who has more jury equity than you do and share a move that you did? They win and not you. Combine that with Gabler’s merge boot move and being generally more likable.

So you think a huge jury threat who was a fire making challenge away from sweeping a jury and completely controlled every vote (sans Karla’s and his own) vs a goat who could’ve been voted out anytime by all the power players and did rarely anything at all? I think Jesse’s overrated but he played far better than her and it’s not even close.

@@kharihammon9784the merge boot is kind of bullshit that Gabler won. I think Gabler was more likeable yeah but overall his strategic game just sucked and the jury was grasping for straws for a reason why he should win, he took out Elie…who wasn’t even on the jury and was already a consensus target when everyone was looking for one.

Cassidy is in fact overranked in this. She is ranked over people like Cody and Karla, who are both way better players, who had a much better shot to win the season than she did. I am dissapointed in his ranking as well, since Cass is much too high in it, and over people she has no business being over. And you call Gabler a goat, when Cass is the one who didn't have a winning Final 3 out of the merge, and was destroyed badly by a seemingly easy jury opponent (who also loses to most people) like Gabler.

Gabler at 3rd is ridiculous. He is a terrible player who only won by an extremely bitter jury. I have him 7th or 8th at the absolute highest, but probably more about 10th. You have Cass way too low. She is the real winner of the season who only lost to the most bitter jury in the shows history. She should be atleast 2nd, but has a real case to be 1st over Jesse too.
