What's this all about anyway?
It's about the good old times when people read books or magazines and played games made of paper, to learn and to have fun.
Special focus on the eighties, when computers were still competing with printed material, and when the Digital Age was still in the process of replacing the Ink Age...

Hey, glad to have come across this. You have a beautiful library, and as a non-native English speaker I want to say that your accent is not a problem. I can completely understand what you're saying, and in my opinion, this makes your channel unique. You should not be ashamed of your voice or your accent, but if you want to have your friends read your scripts, that's okay. Whatever makes you feel better!

What a great channel you have! I grew up in the 80’s spending a lot of time and most of the paper round money I earned in second hand book shops purchasing fantasy books. I still own an almost complete collection of Fighting Fantasy game books and through these I became an avid reader and lover of books. I never really played them
properly (with dice, paper and pen) but I loved to lose myself in the worlds and stories they portrayed. Very happy days and now my children read them too.
Thanks a lot. You're absolutely right about just reading through the stories without necessarily playing. Pure fantasy at its best!
My children are not attracted to them despite my tries to make them read. You're lucky your children like them.
What are your thoughts about Tolkien?
@@AgeofInk I absolutely love Tolkien, I remember reading Fellowship of the Ring a couple of times when I was about 10/11 years old but I was then intimidated by the Two Tower and Return of the King as they were such big books. It was a real rite of passage for me at that age to push through and read them. The Lord of the Rings really is one of the greatest works of literary fiction ever written. I was also a massive fan of the Lone Wolf series of game books that you cover on your channel, they were excellent too.
I was in the exact same situation as you describe: age 11, intimidated by the sheer size of LOTR, only this was not so much volumes 2 and 3, but indeed the first one, that I finally found the courage to try and read. This was the bigger of the three.
Bonjour! Nice too see you in person again Anton! I love books too, but i am more on the philosophical and scifi topics. I am a son of greek parents, who came to germany in the late 60's for work. Keep up your great work! In the 80's we played a Rolegame which was called "Das Schwarze Auge" (The Black eye) a lot.

You can see the 3 boxes of the Schwarze Auge in French on the top of my shelf... I know it's German, and was quite good for us RPG beginners back in the day... And yes, Greek philosophers are the best :)

Thank you for bringing my attention to the Russian version of the Hobbit. A friend from Romania gave me a Romanian version of the book for my birthday this year. It contains many wonderful illustrations by Livia Rusz. Have you heard of it?
Not yet, but just checked, and it's absolutely fantastic! Thanks for mentioning. How could I have missed that? I thought I knew all great Tolkien artists. Very much the same style as the Russian one, a little more like Gary Chalk. Gollum with the hat is absolutely hilarious 😂
Great work, beautiful collection! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Legendary Kingdoms, Rider of the Black Sun and other "modern" gamebooks as well.

Unfortunately it's unlikely there will be a modern gamebooks topic on this channel any time soon. The focus is clearly on Retro, at least primarily

Vous pourriez même avoir des personnages différents, dans la même aventure. S'il existe d'autres livres-jeux exclusifs à la France, j'aimerais voir une vidéo à leur sujet!
