I remember buying a gold NES cart with a switch it had Linus Space Head, Treasure Island Dizzy, a Robin Hood game and a sports game. I played Treasure Island Dizzy the most but I never beat it.

Evercade looks cool, but I hardly play my 3DS. Dont have time for another portable. On another note, I had a Lynx as a kid and loved it, especially Xenophobe, Todds Adventures in Slime World, and Warbirds. Impressive little system. Wholeheartedly agree with your take on Xenocrisis as well. Got that on Game Pass and to me its like a combo between Aliens and Smash TV.
I'm totally digging this handheld console. Especially cuz I'm a big fan of retro gaming. Imma try to get one for black friday/cyber Monday or Christmas. I hope we'll see some fighting games on it and some well known platformers. I like the direction of the console. Great review 🤘🏼
Sweetness! Can't wait for my preorders to ship. I got the notification on the Xenocrisis/Tanglewood and Oliver Twins carts, and I think the Atari Lynx stuff is shipping next month. I'm really glad they went this route with their collections. When they first announced the Evercade the only thing they showed us was the cartridge with Atari 2600 games. So I was afraid it was going to be just another one of those retro products that didn't bring anything new to the table, but then they announced the Mega Cats and Pico collections, and that's when I knew they were actually doing something special. These new carts show that they're continuing to bring something special to the market. They also listen to the community. When the units first started coming out the NES/SNES buttons were reversed (because their ABXY buttons followed the Xbox layout, instead of Nintendo's layout), and the Genesis control scheme was just gross (A=Genesis A, B=Genesis B, Y=Genesis C), but they did two firmware fixes, the first to fix NES and SNES, and the second to allow the option to change Genesis games to a control scheme that fits the old Genesis Arcade Pad (X=Genesis A, A=Genesis B, B=Genesis C).
Kind of random, but Chip's Challenge was the first video game I ever played back when I was like 4 years old. I played it in my grandma's computer and loved it. I had no idea there was an Atari Lynx version, or any other version. I might need to check out this console for that reason exclusively!
I wouldn't mind a separate video for just the Atari Lynx games. Back in the early 90s, I actually held one in my hand and almost bought it (well, more like almost had my dad buy it for me). So I've always been curious about Lynx games.
Also one cool detail in the two lynx collections is that the original lynx if you flipped it over you can play left handed and the evercade collected has that!
I just ordered this after doing a lot of research on hand helds and especially when I couldn’t find a lot of good old retro games off my new iPhone 12 Pro Max like I did when I had the LGV60 where I was able to find huge collections from many of the old consoles. I found this by accident and started looking in to it comparing it to others and ordered it from eBay. Price,Quality,Feedback everything checked out.Definitely looking forward to it.

I had a lynx growing up too. I had cali games, blue lightning, ninja gaiden, and cyberball for a long time. Now I'm up to like 15 games. Hydra, Rampage, and Road blasters really need to be on lynx volume 3 [if they can get them]
@@DLCOrganization Lynx had two Ninja Gaiden ports. The first port was of the arcade game and it's a very well done port. The second is a port of Ninja Gaiden 3 for the NES. While it's enjoyable enough, they basically ported it without reworking any of the assets for the Lynx.
Before mario & sonic we had the Dizzy games on tape on the ZX i remember on tape inserts you could send off for games code masters was epic for it at £2.50 a game i would tick a load and get granny to write a check as i was to young. And a few weeks later a jiffy bag would arive packed with code masters greatness.
It would be cool if you did spend more time with the Oliver Twins collection. I do wonder if it's possible for someone to get into and enjoy many of these style of old games if they don't already have nostalgia for "em

Why doesn't Xenocrisis use the whole screen?, in the PC version the sides show how much Life/Grenades/Tags you have. EDIT: Oh ok, I wasn't aware they were using the megadrive version, my bad
I'm a little pissed off at Amazon. I preordered both of the Atari Lynx Cartridges the second they went up on Amazon. But Amazon cancelled both cartridges on me. So im not happy. They have not gone back up yet, im constantly checking.
Your copies of XenoCrisis and Oliver Twins have no pegi rating, odd because the listings show them and all the previous cases 1-10 have them as well as the 2 lynx cases 13-14
So how do I install firmware updates on this thing? Is it possible to go to system settings without popping in a cartridge or do you have to connect it to a computer or something?
Connect to a pc and run a program. If you goto the evercade website they explain the process in a very easy to follow way. Takes just a quick minute to update.

The Dizzy games were really huge back in the 80’s in the UK. Available for most home computers such as the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad.
Definitely no regrets in buying an Evercade and its getting better and better

Only thing that puts me off the Evercade is the inability to open it easily to replace the battery (and perhaps the screen in the further future)

Those dizzy games look like amiga versions, not sure. But i would have been good to also have the versions from the 8bit micros

I want one but the color scheme and style of the handheld is a turnoff.
You get used to it quickly - there’s also a guy working on some nice vinyl faceplates for it.
