    As one of Stiv's old friends, it gives me hope that people realize where he was coming from, so long ago, and THAT is what IMORTALITY is a about! THE SOUL REASON he changed his style, was to reach more people, with the same PUNK attitude...and message! "Stiv...IT WORKED"! YOU CAN REST IN PEACE!

Stiv tried to start a little riot, taunting the crowd, "I thought Detroit was a rock n roll town. You fuckers can't dance." He pulled out his pubic hair & sprinkled it on the people up front. By the end of the show people were throwing everything at the stage. It was awesome!

    Appreciate the qualities of this song;
    1-The words are sung pure and without any technology improvements.
    2-The sax solo
    3-The infectious bass line throughout
    4-The musical influences of reggae, latin, classical (harpsicord intro), Dylanesque vocal delivery and Morrison-esque stage presence
    5-We will never see such talent again (my prediction)
    6-The ability to use music to influence politically in a melodic and hypnotic way
    7-His words were true as we can see now how the media and politicians conspire against the very people they swore to protect and serve.

      Definitely at a time when both the mainstream and the underground were mostly devoid of social/political content. I was deeply involved in the college radio/CMJ scene that unintendedly induced the major label feeding frenzy that kneecapped the music just as it was gaining traction. It took a number of years and direct distribution of easy to ship/cheap to produce CD's for the touring underground scene to recover. I can explain why it all got wrecked again because of a certain label CEO's crush on a certain vulnerable bandleader...

    I've been listening to this song a lot lately. I always loved LOTNC and this song but today as an adult these lyrics hit harder especially the line 'Cause meek inherits earth 6 ft deep."

  • @TenSeven97
    @TenSeven97 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I well remember seeing LOTNC perform this song at the now long-defunct Golden Bear venue in Huntington Beach, CA venue in the late 80's. Stiv's voice was as-ever powerful and a force to behold.
    It amazes me that the message of this song is even more true today (04/2109) as they were then...
    RIP, Stiv... you were exactly right on this.

      @@AnacondaVanaspati Back in the day I would record a cassette on the first spin and shelve the LP! Good for the car and for parties. I bought a dubbing cassette deck for mix tapes. In the late 80's the cassette that ALWAYS got stolen at parties was the Meters Best Of "Look Ka Py Py". Still a great late-in-the-evening living room party dance winner
