Today the scope of beauty is expanding to be more inclusive of all kinds of beauty from body size, physiognomy, and even hairstyles. But trends will be trends and different periods in history have been influenced by various fashion trends.
Here are the surprising things that men found attractive 50 years ago. Do you think any of these past trends will make a comeback?

A clear, fresh complexion, long, thick hair, good teeth, and a pearly-white smile. A slim, neat figure, an absence of tattoos, and a pleasant voice. In other words, a proper lady! Coming from a showbiz background (dancer, singer, instrumentalist, actress, etc.,) would also be a massive advantage. She would speak my language!

    • @lim4275
      @lim4275 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

People are getting them tattooed on now. It’s called micro-blading. I think a lot of them have to because they over-tweezed or over-waxed in the 90’s when razor thin brows were in. A lot of times that hair doesn’t grow back after long term removal. Very full brows are “in” right now, although I think the pendulum is starting to swing the other way. I’ve never embraced any of those eyebrow trends. I just tweeze a few strays, keep my natural shape and size, apply a clear gel, and comb through them once so they’re neat. Following all those trends is a losing game as far as I’m concerned. I’m good with fashion trends, but I’m not altering my body for a trend. No thanks!

The neon color were very «in» also. I loved some of my favorite colorful neon clothes to go dancing. And my make-up. In those days my choice of blush was «Iridescent» from Cover-Girl. There was also «Charlie» from Yardley. For getting drunk, in the sixties I was too young, too here and there to sit down and have a drink. When I lit my first cigarette, I was 16. -Thin hair that is hard to style but would look really look feathered
-Little to no makeup, very natural look
-A youngish-looking face that sometimes causes people to think I'm younger than I am, though I clearly have the body of an adult woman, but with limited curves, so I guess I some might consider me Lolita-looking, I'm not sure.

Wow, so the "thin browed look" has been a popular look for since the 1920's and 1930's? Hell, I had NO idea about messing with MY brows until I was about to get married in 1988. My mom's friend had mentioned how I had to get MY brows "shaped". SO, some Lady had plucked my eyebrows into a neat and orderly "thin line".
I have NOT kept up with it at ALL.
When my mom was young, she had kept plucking HER eyebrows, and eventually they just stopped growing in other than a few whispy hairs here and there, so, soon she just used an eyebrow pencil and drew them on.
BUT, since they would just "wash off" she has actually PAID somebody to TATTOO them on.
I shit you NOT. But, she has to have it redone each year or 2 since it does fade with time.
I had eyeliner tattood on years ago, it has faded and I am NOW not so worried about impressing anybody, although when I HAD gotten it, I was doing it for ME anyhow, BUT now I am NOT concerned about it being faded. It was kinda "uncomfortable" but, NOT painful. Annoying, is another good way to describe it.
I still do have some signs of it, BUT, I do REALLY need another application IF you would REALLY want to see it on me now.
Big full lips have really always been a good thing, even Mick Jagger had that "going on" back in the 60's or 70's. SO, it is NOT ONLY MEN who like FULL LIPS. Women do too, and as this video goes on, we see Maryln Monroe with HER figure that is called "Voluptuous" meaning that she has a big bosom and hips that are kinda "full" and her waist is slim, BUT NOT super small. She is a healthy woman by her measurements, NOT some "anorexic" model.
Then, Twiggy came along and it was "hip" to be a "bony ass" woman. As for "leg makeup" my mom had sold "AVON" makeup to a woman who had apparently bought "Leg makeup" and she had been a "dancer" and she had bought a steady supply of it. That had been before I was even born.
Now, for ME the "adrogeny in the 60's" thing had made me think of David Bowie, now, I was NOT alive back in the 1960's though. BUT, in the 1970's when I was alive and a KID, my parents did NOT let me get the "Farrah Fawcett" hair style, I had to get the "Dorothy Hammil" short BOY hair cut, I HATED it SO MUCH.
I MUST say here that the guy who plays "Bosley" in the "Charlies Angels" REALLY makes me think of Tom Arnold, the guy that MARRIED Roseanne Barr, and had been on her show "Roseanne".
That had been the run of the show "Roseanne" WAY BEFORE this newer show that is now called "The Conners" has been running. Apparently, Roseanne Barr (or what ever she is now) had said something stupid and racially ignorant, so, she had to GO because her co-stars had NOT wanted to work with her anymore because she had evidently NOT been able to talk her way out of it, and, although, I have NEVER thought of her as a racist, she MUST have said something bad enough that she could NOT explain that she was NOT speaking bad about somebody. She had spoken about somebody and related to them to the "planet of the apes", now THIS is my BEST RECOLLECTION, i can NOT say what it had been "word for word".
Once Roseanne had been blamed as being a "racist" by people whom had read that comment, she had said and I quote, "I thought the bitch was white". And, I really have NO damn IDEA who she had made the comment about. i do THINK it had been about a woman who MAY hold some position in Government or some type of political position.
Anyhow, the "Charlie's Angel's" and the "Three's company"' crowd seem to have been fans of BOTH of those shows.
I must admit to liking some men on TV shows that had featured some men with feathered hair. I have always liked "Heavy metal" bands, especially in the 1980's, and many guys with LONG hair had been in metal music bands back them. I still LOVE Heavy metal music, BUT, now the groups do NOT all have long hair.
The "Lolitta" look must have been popular when "Twiggy" was popular. I do NOT really know, I wasn't born until 1970, BUT, I have heard of "Twiggy". I HAVE seen the movies with the guy from "Wayne's world" too, and it is a bit confusing IF you are out to determine when ladies hairstyles and body shapes had been popular in REALITY.
Now, moving on.... it is showing just how men could "booze it up" without anybody judging them, BUT women would be very HARSHLY JUDGED.
And then smoking had suddenly had been "sexy" for women, BUT, working outside of the home was frowned upon. And women who had kids and worked had been brow beaten, BUT, clearly, a 1 income family had been a family in which the income had NOT been enough to cover everything financially.

Men don't and never have preferred women who are built like athletic men or eight year old girls. We don't and never have preferred women who dress like men. Certain proportions of lips and eyebrows are always better than others. We've always liked looking at women's bare legs (duh). Natural makeup is fine if a woman doesn't need much makeup and it's better than the clown look that some women have who use too much. Never been much of a fan of hair sculpture myself , but it looks great on beautiful women like F.F. A beautiful brunette has never been less beautiful than a beautiful blonde. Smoking and drinking too much have always been things that you merely tolerate from anyone.

Where to begin? Clothes have always been modeled after the trends of the teenage girl. From the mini to hot pants to the slim jean, all are based on young teens. Twiggy had very little to do with real purchasing habits as much as jeans became the female uniform and the tighter the better. Economics was a big part of it as well as comfort. By the time disco changed music, women were dying to squeeze into dresses again. Same thing with the boys. The natural health and beauty of young teen hair is something the industry has tried to bottle and sell forever with questionable results.

I remember a lot of the women in the 70’s on some of the mor risky shows complaining that they were ask to get skinny and shave so that they would look like a 12 year old boy 👦 and it upset them a lot I think you are referring to the same kinky stuff with most of these things and not really men I’ve never even heard of any even talk about anything like this unless they were drunk and they don’t even remember anything about it later and they certainly didn’t pursue it
